Hayabusa gearing calculators
« on: February 10, 2006, 12:49:46 AM »
I figured you guys could use some good gearing calculators for the busa... so here are two.  One is for stock gearing, and one is for overdrive gearing in 5th and 6th.  Both TTS and Robinson overdrive gears have the same gear ratio.  Tire size and sprocket gearing are easily changed to match your bike.  Enjoy!

you can change the ratios on these calculators too.  This is the best one I've seen.  I've been using this one for a while.

Nice YAG.   :D

Give me the correct ratios for the TTS gears for 5th and 6th and I will post another one specifically for TTS, and change the one thats up there to Robinson.

So, are our tachs accurate enough for the readings on stock gearing top speeds to be accurate, or no?  If not, how far is a stock tach off?

The tachs read approx. 500 rpm high, at the rev limiter.

I need some help. I ride a 2003 GSX R1000. It has a T.R.E. on it. What should I expect as its actual top speed in stock trim? How much more top end can I expect by going down three teeth in the back? Thanks.

Have you hit the de-restricted rev-limiter with the stock gearing?.

If it won't pull to the unrestricted redline with stock gearing, it certainly won't with even taller gearing.

You can use these calculators for your bike too.  You'll need to enter the ratios for each gear and any other parameters that may be different for your bike.  That may be redline, tires size, of course, your sprocket choice, etc.  The spreadsheets are great in that you can make these changes and get the info you need.

Copy that sir.  Thanks.

And, if that's the case, then I've had my little stocker up to 193, according to the gear calculator.

I wasn't completely forthcoming. My 2003 1K is turbo-charged. I know the boost will push the bike to the limiter but I'm not sure what the top speed would be at that point (weather hasn't cooperated). I would like to go down three teeth in the back to take advantage of a higher top speed but I'd like to know what to expect. Thanks.

here's one i wrote, you can change any gearing you wish and factor in tyreslip and also tyre circumference
---------------------------------------
data for busa ,12R and rf600r are already entered
but you can create your own bike's database in my program if you wish

IMPORTANT : when you unzip the file you have an EXE program, don't place it on your desktop, because my program has to create/edit it's own files as and when.
so place it in it's own unique folder

run the EXE
go to "Options"
go to "Bike Database"
choose your bike
click on "Top Speed Calculator"
and experiment

if you save changes to gearing on a bike, but later on want to go back to the default(initial) settings, and you can't remember them ,just delete the appropriate file in the DATA sub-folder
(warning: my program only recreates 3 datafiles for the above mentioned bikes so back up any new bike databases you make before playing with it  )

Our wide ratio Race gearbox has a 14% increase in top. However it is spread through all the gears (ie 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th & 6th) rather than just the top 2 gears so rpm dropping on shifts are reduced.

Use the stock gearing spreadsheet... the stock gearing hasn't changed from day one.
