Does the K5 clutch chatter like the K4?
« on: July 08, 2005, 07:15:59 PM »
The reason I ask is I have noticed that the K5 has new parts numbers for the first fibre plate and the wave washer & seat.
I don't want to waste $150 on the Brock Cushion Kit is genuine suzuki parts will fix my K4's clutch grabbing/releasing/pogoing at high rpm launches. Im desperate to get my new toy out the the strip but not with the way the clutches are in these things.
Has anybody tried putting the K5 clutch plates/springs into a K3/K4?
I do realise that the K5 has a slipper clutch etc.

Thanks.

I had an 04 gixxer 1000 and the clutch feel was excellent. no chatter at all.  do you slip it alot and do you think that the steels are warped possibly??
previously owned a 01 blk/gry Busa little of this little of that...oh yeah and a ghetto turbo 320horse/200ft.lb. 8.92@169
Bikeless....for now.

The clutch does feel excellent except high rpm launches.
I have had the clutch out, filed the inner basket so it had no ridges, checked the steels no warpage, shuffled them around, scuffed the steels on the concrete checked the clutch right out no problems except the 3rd fibre in is wearing really fast.
I even tried drilling an extra 15 holes in the inner basket, and extra 3 in the outer basket for more oil flow and i put a small groove in the clutch push piece. the clutch is more oily now but still doing the exact same grabbing jerking on high rpm starts.
Im thinking of trying the k5 clutch fibre/wave washers in my k4 first.
i think im just going to have to bite the bullet and buy the brocks cushion kit.

Brock's clutch kit works.  My 04 started chattering on the 3rd trip to the track last year.  Put the kit in and have had zero problems since.

It is night to day better than stock.

I've nuked quite a few clutch plates this year and never once has the 05 clutch chattered on my bike.  All stock components in the clutch too, no aftermarket parts and the slipper is still active.
