Threw on a new Evil arm(2"-6" over, set at 4"/62"),EK 3D chain, and a Vortex CAT5 47T rear sprocket Thurs.May still be able to lower the rear another 1" or so,right now it drops another good 1" when my fat 245 lb. ass plops on it and just don't want to rub a tire if I hit a bump or pothole.

Looks damn good!
-
Thanks bro, gonna go try it out in a bit and see if the front end will stay down when I whack it in 1st gear.
-
Looks good. Doesn't look like it will rub too me. :thumb:
-
Thanks bro,I think I still have plenty of clearance even with me on it so will drop it another inch or two tonight. :thumb:
-
You can tighten up the spring some if it does.

Just finished up tightening up the rear spring. :lol:Was just barely rubbing when I hit a few bumpy spots and was pretty soft anyway so I turned the two spanner nuts down about a 1/2",won't rub now.
-
Very slick there slick! :tu:
-
Let's see - you with a 18/47-45 and me with a 19/42. I am taller than you.
-
Way taller.
-
Way taller.
Might go with a 19/43 - then we would be closer. 18/45 to a 19/43 ain't much difference. 5 little teeth. 1=3 up front and two inna back. Hope that MTC multi stage clutch goes well. And the air-shifter.

That's a good shot Red,forgot Jeffro had his camera the other night. :thumb:
-
That is a great shot. "Towards the sunset".
-
Had to tighten down a little on the shock spring when I got home, was just barely rubbing the bottom right next to the taillight(and loosened up the chain adjusters about a 1/4 turn, seemed a little too snug).
-
I had to tighten my spring down as well...............and cut off the rear fender when the wheel went back 3". Mounted the tag just under the taillight. Will be different with a undertail kit on it. Will run 4-1/2 " back.
-

I thought it was a nice picture too . . .

Looking good there Jeff :tu: I'm about same weight as you and i ended up going to a heavier rear spring. Think new spring was right around $100

What's happenin' up there bro?You making your way down again this year for the Stampede?
-
Jeff,
I envy the heck outta you, bro. You ride while I throw another log on the fire. No fair.
Uncle Davey
-
Hoping to make the ride down south again this year Jeff but unsure at this point. Just finished my job yesterday and start new one on Monday. So will have to wait and see what new schedule and vacation looks like once I know more.

I'll keep my one good eye on the lookout for ya. :thumb:
-
Looks very good! I always had very good luck in the past with my Evil arms.
-
Good to know bently. :thumb:Mine came with a Delrin chain slider and all new bearings pressed in and was a snap to install.A friend has over 250 passes(1507 at 18" over with a flat slick)and only issue was a crack in the chain guard(which they replaced at no charge).Super nice people to deal with and had the arm within 8 days after placing my order. :thumb:
-
Bigger/wider/fatter reat tires = more rotational mass/weight = takes more HP to turn. :id:
Extended swingarms take away power with the longer chain. 8)
Your gearing will more than offset those two. :tu:
-
If I lose 20 lbs.(again )that should make up for the extra 12 links of chain and few ozs. of added tire weight, better looking and keeping the front tire on the ground were my goals(and the new arm is almost 3 lbs. lighter than the stocker...12.2 compared to 14.9 ).

I cannot seem to shake 20 lbs. - 10-15 at most.
P.S. rotational mass is not the same ass the mass-in-yer-ass, asshole.
-
Not concerned with rotational mass or with the .10 of a second it could cost me at a track since I don't race(other than an occasional roll on every couple of months). :lol:Just now lowered the rear another 3/4",will try it in the morning to make sure there's no rubbing before I throw the belly wing back on.As far as personal weight loss,I dropped 35 lbs. a year ago and so far have gained 28 of it back(was 248 this morning).Oh well,I love to eat.
-
Me too.
-
-
Me too.
Shrimp, drawn butter, steak (prime rib), lobster with drawn butter, catfish, sea bass, etc.
-
:lol:I seldom eat that high on the hog anymore but I do enjoy a good ribeye on the grill every week or two.My biggest downfall is sweets, have to have a dessert at least twice a day and an extra 300 calories a day adds up to about 2.5 lbs. a month(3500 calories per lb.).
-
BTW, we are staying with the 19/43 combo for gearing..................19/42 is a bit too tall.

Been looking at the evil arm .. think I wanna get an 8-12 over arm from them :thumb:
-
Put an Evil on mine a few months ago and like it a lot(2"-6" and set it at 4" over). Was $660 shipped and that included powder coating, chain guard, bearings(installed),etc.Super nice people to work with and only took 6 or 7 days to get it upon ordering. :thumb:

My McIntosh 2-6 over arm was 1400...................prolly not much difference 'twixt your Evil arm and the Mac when it comes down to it.
-
You're probably right(if they're made of the same materials, etc.,I think Terry's 4130 chromoly arm is pretty much the same but about $200 higher with the same options).

Jeff

Pretty sure he got everything to mount it up in one shot ~ remember that Jeff only went 4"s over & used the factory brake line too . . .
