I'm looking at possibly installing a 2nd battery to make a 24 V starting circuit. I have a '99 w/ a Mototeck undertail. How and where would be a good place to mount the second battery? I know that in the storage area is out of the question.
Who has done this, and do you have any pics? Thanks in advance. (http://images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) (http://images/smiles/converted/thumb.gif)

IN A STOCK TAIL YOU CAN FIT ANOTHER STOCK SIZE BATTERY

What do you do? Lay it flat? (http://images/smiles/icon_confused.gif)

why not use a 24 volt gel battery (http://www.scooterone.com/batteries/batteries.htm) , they are lighter arent they? how ya gonna charge em?
-
nope stand it up
ya have to remove the plastic tail first
then set it in the inner fender

Oh, OK. I understand now. The only prob is that I'm running a Mototeck undertail. It sort of takes up the needed space for the battery.
Hmmm, gotta look at it when I get home.

dont run a single 24 volt battery
stock electrical system is not made for it
and would probably fry
run a second battery in a series cicuit only to the starter isolated by means of the factory starter solenoid
that will get you 24 volts only to the starter motor and not the rest of the bikes electrical system
you will have to charge the second battery with a trickle charger since it never "sees" the alternator's output
just keep quick connects on it and plug it in after you ride
it works i've done it

OK, next question. Does it matter the size/output of the 2nd battery?
Thanks.

use a stock second battery.
Wire it the way dragzooks said.
you won't have nay a problem.

???????? I want to install another 12volt battery so can I just install a battery islotator after the alt or from the main hot wire going to the battery ? (http://images/smiles/converted/25.gif)
