Title: Project: Bastardchild
Post by: busabuser on December 30, 2007, 10:19:56 PM
Hey guys, first post. Figured I'd introduce myself and my project bike! It's definately not a busa, but I'm actually adding a busa front fairing to the bike. I'm also here to find some parts too. Anyway, I may as well share some pictures, and a little bit of my plan. I have a rear faring for a Kawasaki ZZR1200, a Honda CBR600RR tank cover, and two SV1000 tailpipes. The pictures right now are just a test fitment. Sorry for the blurriness, but the camera sucks.

Anyway, right now I'm in search of a painter upper faring, and windscreen. Thanks everyone, and enjoy!

Just an update. All this was done last week. Just got around to posting it up now.

These pictures are kinda rough, but it gives you the general idea.

The entire wiring harness goes through the headlight...

Heres the bike naked:

Both cans being test fit: (I had a crazy idea of having the cans under the frame, instead of having the collector down there, because they actually fit. When I go to do the oil change, I will test fit them under there to see what they look like.)

Headlight bucket off completely:

Fixing the crack in the tank cover:

Alright an update has been due. Just got my front end work all in recently and decided to get worknig on the bike more. I might stick with the stock exhaust, or go for a simple slip on exhaust and sell the other exhaust I bought.

Did some major work on the bike yesterday, worked on it up until 5 am because of wiring. Anyway, what was done was wiring in the taillight and signals, plus the headlights and front signals, then putting the exhaust back on, figuring out that the gas tank has rust in it and dirt and other ****. Pulled off the carbs, cleaned the bowls. Set them back up, got everything all buttoned in and threw the tank on from the other bike and fired it up. Still have the same idle problem. So now it's narrowed down to A/F mixture, or throttle handle.

The wiring problem I had was that I had no speedo/tach/headlights with ignition on. Scratched our heads all night Saturday night, and then finally just solved the problem today. Also pulled off the caliper, and the piston is seized, so that needs to be replaced.

I do not need clip-on bars, and I don't exactly need lowered bars, but shorter bars are in order. Next in line is the ram air tube design, new caliper, new gas tank, and then a seat. I'm toying with the idea of getting the side farings for the busa. Also going to be maknig my own fender cover so it fills in a bit of the gap.

Anyway, enough yapping, more pictures. A video (http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d133/jibbijib/The%20bike/?action=view&current=clip0013.flv) is also available.

Btw the bike is up on a milk crate in these pics. Looks better on the ground.

Thanks alot for the parts! The sticker on the windshield was a PITA, but I managed to get it off.

The rear tailliights look like alien eyes in the dark, and the speedo and tach light up greenish with blue halo around the rims. I put blue L.E.D.'s in each. Think I might get white instead. Even in the dark, the letters dont really light up as well at the stock lights.

Anyway, Im after a set of nice aftermarket mirrors now (I saw a set of pig catchers on ebay, and fell in love with the style) so if anone has any good leads, let me know. Also looking for ram air tubes. Don't care if they are damaged or not. All I really need is the first 5 or 6 inches from the front.

Thanks for looking everyone!

Been a while since I've been here. Here's some pics of what it looks like right now. Just need a seat, mirrors (on the way) brake caliper, carb boots, refresh the gas tank. Then i cant put everything together and ride it!

Sorry for no updates. I got an R1 tail faring to go on, justn eed the subframe, taillight and undertail for that, and I should be able to mate it on. Also, getting the lower farings from Busaman66 soon enough to complete the front end. Thinknig of doing and undertail exhaust, but I might jsut go with a 4-1 exhaust instead. Plus going to be getting an electronic dash so I can mate it to the faring stay properly. Anyway, Thanks for the interest guys!

Hopefully be riding and getting weird looks this summer!

I've long since sold my project bike and I am in the process of selling the parts I've bought.

I have available:
Fairing Stay with mounting hardware
Upper Fairing
Stock windscreen with hardware
Headlight with bulbs and harness
Front turn signals with bulbs
Aftermarket mirrors
Undernose fairing.

I will post these in the for sale section. They will need to be gone fast, or they go up on ebay.

Thanks for reading and supporting guys! Sorry I couldn't finish it... The money was needed,
