I began the tedious process of taking the bike apart and cleaning it over the winter.
I can not belive the amount of crap that gets built up from the chain inside the slave cylinder cover. I remember a while back someone was describing a way to protect the slave rod and cylinder.
Does anyone have any pictures? Or a good description of how they made a cover.
I think I could cut out a piece of heavy rubber to wedge between the chain and the slave.
Any ideas?

I've heard of the clutch slave support, which dennis sells, but not this. please be more specific.

Thanks for the reply. I must not of been clear, I am looking for a way to keep the grime of the slave/slave rod. I do not need a support for the slave.

I cut out a plastic cover for the slave cyl., drilled a hole for the rod and a small drain hole at the bottom of the cover so it won't trap water and used RTV to hold it in place. I'm on the road for another week but will post a pic. when I get home if your interested.

The one motorhead sells are perfect.
Easy install, excellent fit and does what it's ment to do.
I recommend one for any high performance clutch application.

Thanks for the replies. I kind get the idea that you are covering the slave cylinder and the rod just goes through a hole in the cover?
I was wondering if you could cut a small notch in the factory cover, hang a piece of rubber (truck mudflap, etc.) down through the notch and let it shield the slave and rod. I would think that would stop a majority of the slop from getting on the slave and rod.
What do you guys think?

Cutting a notch in the Cover will more then likely cause more "Undue Stress" on the already stressed Cover.
Get the Slave support, then Do the Mod from the Link you were given, It's the best way to do it.
DO NOT CUT A NOTCH, you WILL regret it.

Not to knock any of the guys making parts, but once you get the cover off, a milk bottle cap also will work just fine. A little time to drill a hole in the middle for the rod, and to rig some safety wire to hold the cap in place. Clear clutch fluid for the past 12000 miles... (http://images/smiles/icon_smile.gif)
