Title: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: Mospeada on January 09, 2008, 05:41:38 PM
So here I am, it's 2008 finally, and I've been riding my Hayabusa for 7 years now. It amazes me when something comes across my path about the Hayabusa that I don't already know about (except for inner motor stuff, I don't wrench there).

Other day I was complaining to Vince (1Vapors) that I still have to twist my wrist 'under' to get full throttle. He mentions to me that maybe I should get a quick throttle. I say "hell no", I'm not paying over $100 for an on/off drag racing switch.

Vince corrects me, says "no, get the cheap quick throttle mod. Go to the dealership, order up a throttle grip for an 04+ Yamaha R1. It'll speed up your throttle maybe a little more than 20%. Stock throttles on Busa are 'long' because we have fast torquey Busa's that they don't want us looping. Had it on my bike for years."

So, I order the part, slap down $17, and it arrives 2 days later.

Edit - It actually may have been an 04+ throttle tube, not the previously stated 02/03. I'll confirm

Installed it, messed with the cables a little to adjust, adjust again while engine is running and testing the throttle by blipping to make sure it's not on too tight, and that it indeed returns to idle fast.

Impression

Gotta say, I should have done this a long time ago. Your bike doesn't make any more horsepower, but boy do you pick up speed anywhere just faster. It actually feels like I just went another 2-3 teeth up in the back, it just picks up and moves out sooner, fast, without being too aggressive.

Then I hit the 1/8, and was consitantly in the 1.6's all day long (except for one wheelie). The throttle helped, because even I know, sometimes my brain doesn't let me hit it WOT fast enough. This mod alone helped my 60 foot in time and consistancy. The part was less than my entry fee to the track!

After track, went riding in the mountains. Bike just 'picked up' faster everywhere. In conclusion, for drag, canyon, track, or mountain racing and having spirited fun, this is a must have. If you tour the bike a lot, or are not used to really getting on the gas, maybe let this one mod pass.

I"m writing this out because I noticed that there is no mention of it. So much, soooo much info was lost in the archives of SH.org before the new owners took it over. I hope some of you enjoy this cheap mod as much as I do.

Yeah, I've heard later about the R6, but also heard it's really, really way to aggresive on a Busa for street riding. But for drag, hell yeah!  :thumb:

Stock busa is a 1/4 turn
R6 makes it a 1/5 turn
R1 makes it a 1/6 turn

very easy to do. Took me about 6 minutes total on mine.

I don't know for sure but have one ordered as of yesterday.
To much wrist action for me.  And for the $13.00, it is well worth trying.

02-04 R1
Mounts up easily just have to add slack to both cables to slip on over tube/mount then re-adjust slack.

Does install on 08.
Tube is slightly shorter giving a little side to side play.
Cam is definitely larger, but unable to see how much difference it will actually make due to Northern Indiana weather.
Appears to be good for 08 Busa also.

Play is probably about 1/16 of an inch or so.

Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: Mospeada on January 17, 2008, 02:35:21 AM
There should NOT be any side-to-side play, because part of the throttle tube, the inside plastic end, goes inside the right control. Well, the control is tightened down on the handlebar, so the tube and throttle don't go anywhere except for rolling on/off throttle. There might be a tiny amount of play because the gap is bigger, but it's very, very minor. When I rode my bike, I didn't notice anything at all.

Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: OrangeBlk08Busa on January 17, 2008, 12:59:28 PM
There is a plastic black round shim that comes w/tube ......place it inside of throttle housing to take up minute slack.

If you take a closer look at the above pic above....

the tube on right has the shim lay'n right on top of the grip portion of tube....this shim would be inside of throttle housing when install'd.

Its now fixed in my busa already.Everything is ok and looks fine, but the throttle itself is shorter than the stock.Leaving a space of 1 to 2 inches extra gap.Either in the far end or in front of you,it depends on how you want it.In singapore currency $20 over dollars.I havent got the exact amount yet though.

Im not really seeing any gains or it is just me?

The slack om the throttle tube is normal with out the shim. The shim is for the out side so the grip doesnt ride on the housing and stick.

and shim is for outside of housing,I thought guy was talking about gap between grip and Bar end

Yup true. The throttle turning ratio is much shorter.Good for drag race. Not for city ride and riding at slow speed cause you cant judge and control. Its too much.

Just installed mine and as Robert Kelly mentioned, it didn't seem like a significant change, but you can feel it.  Full open throttle with the old one is painful on my wrist, whereas the R1 tube was only uncomfortable.  In a way I'm glad it wasn't a huge change otherwise it would be downright dangerous.  It was a trickier install than I expected, so here's a few tips: 1) Remove the brake control, it'll make the throttle change much easier; 2) tape that plastic washer to the grip when installing; 3) My throttle cables didn't have much slack (even with adjusters fully in) so I did resort to pliers to mount the return cable.

From what I've been reading, the R1 throttle tube (it comes with a grip too) is great for street bikes and (road/mtn/canyon) race bikes.

The R6 tube is very, very aggressive. That's a great mod for drag-only bikes. You do NOT want the R6 throttle tube on a street bike as you'll more than likely end up possibly crashing from to much throttle input when you don't need it.

Since my bike is ridden mosly in the mountains and canyones, with track days every couple of months or so, the R1 throttle tube was perfect.

Im not a rocket scientist but im trying to figure out how this works. Doesnt the cable have to be pulled the same distance no matter what throttle tube its on? How does the R1 tube make it not have to turn your wrist so far??  Sorry if i sound stupid, just trying to figure this one out because I would love to not to have to turn my wrist so far at WOT.
Thanks

The part of the throttle tube where the cable sits on is bigger in diameter.  Thus when turning, more cable is pulled with a shorter turn of the wrist.

Yes the R1 is the best choice for the street, I looked at and mesured both where the cables hook on the tube the R1 is a bunch differant from stock and the R6 is noticably differant than that

Pete you the gixer tube looks real close to the stock Busa, so it would not make much difference, also you should find another Yamaha dealer after all that dicking around with the throttle tubes, they even opened up the packages, the throttle tube cost me $12.50+tax.  sounds like your guy is trying to retire early

.....The R6 tube is very, very aggressive. That's a great mod for drag-only bikes. You do NOT want the R6 throttle tube on a street bike as you'll more than likely end up possibly crashing from to much throttle input when you don't need it.

Can anyone confirm this? Is that R6 that much quicker than the R1 throttle in comparison to the Busa?

I took my throttle tube from the Busa and went to the local Yamaha shop we looked at the R1/R6/ and the Busa the anchor point for the cables progressively got further away from the bar, the Busa was the closest the the R1 then the R6 makeing the R6 the quikest reacting the R6 looks like it would be about half the throttle travel the Busa is. the R1 tube come's in somewere between the two

Installed mine last night. Take the cables loose at the throttle bodies, makes install MUCH EASIER. you have to undu the bolts for the adjustment anyway..
8" of snow and 15 degrees so I cant give ya a ride report but from what I can tell on the stands the pull is def. shorter  :thumb:

Got a chance to get some riding time in finally, one thing is putting on this new throttle tube is I got a chance to do some needed maintenance. FMU was acting weird cleaned it, also installed some Helibars at the same time, went back over the map did some minor adjustments with the bike running with the laptop hooked up, when I finished up the snap the bike had with the new tube is killer, almost feels like a differant motorcycle, still say the R6 tube would be two quik for street, great for a dragbike but would be almost like a on off switch on a street bike

The R-1 throttle should be the first mod on a Busa. I had no idea how much better 1/5 turn would be over 1/4. I think that using the R-6 with a 1/6 turn would be too quick.

So aftermarket grips won't work with the R1 throttle??

I don't see why not, but no one that I know of has tried swapping grips.

Again, do NOT use an R6 throttle tube unless you have a drag-only bike. I think everyone will be happy with the R1 tube, it's a very big difference, just the right amount of being more aggressive without going over board.

Cant wait until summer, I get freaked out with my tires gettin this old.   :joker: :joker: :joker: And the R-1 throttle is awesome.

Grecco,

You know, not to play Devil's Advocate, but, well, I dunno. Should someone with a high horsepower turbo Busa really have a much quicker throttle tube? God forbid you get into too much boost at the wrong time.

Maybe, but I would be careful.

Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle

I have used it for both drag racing and a road racing track. And yes, it came in very handy.

Found that it made my 60 foot times more consistent, and was able to get in the mid-upper 1.6's (stock w/b, foot shifting) no problem back to back, with a best of 1.61.

The R1 tube is great. I would recommend the R6 tube for drag-racing-only bikes, definately do NOT put an R6 tube on a street bike.

Yes you are correct the less travel allows full throttle faster, this is what may help your 60, if the bike is drag race only use the R6 tube, if its a street bike use the R1 the R6 is a little to fast to use on a street bike

Ok, so i did the '04 R1 mod over the weekend, p/n 4YR-26240-02-00.  Since i had aftermarket grips on i bought the matching left side R1 grip which fit great!  So the entire install took less than 20 mins.  For the money with was a great mod, and when not in gear it seemed to rev quicker.  On the street i didnt notice much of a difference until i wacked the throttle to wide open, and def. noticed i didnt have to twist as far!  So for that reason alone it is great!   :thumb:  I didnt find any difficulty riding like a normally do, no throttle ocntrol issues.  I did notice the slight increase in gap between the end of the grip and the bar end, but only maybe an 1/8" not a big deal at all.  I am curious to see what difference if any to my 60' times at the track which i only get to a few times a year, for i am mainly a street rider.

what i ordered from Ron Ayers:
4YR-26240-02-00  GRIP ASSY  $9.16
4YR-26241-02-00  GRIP  $3.74

thanks for everyones input on this mod.

When you put the R6 throttle on measure the difference in the throw. Do not make a judgement on "how it feels". I think you'll be surprised.

Now that i have some more seat time with the R1 tube, i think it is just right for the street.  i spent an hour the other night tearing up some corners, as much as i can with it lowered, but i noticed above 5-6k it becomes alittle touchy in the corners with the throttle position.  the yosh drop in cams might have something to do with it to cause they start to come in around 6-7k.  so i would have to agree that the R1 seems just right for the street, and will help on the track as well.

The mark to the right (front) is the starting point for both. The Furthest one left (back) is the stock, marked "s". The tube on the bike in the picture is the R6 and you can see how far it goes.

Well had I thought about this a little more................

the $17 bucks was nothing for the mod, but because I leave the line at WOT off the 2 step this mod did nothing for me

Opps  :P

it did come in handy early in the morning when I wasn't using the 2 step however  :thumb:

just installed and test rode my bike with the r1  throttle tube .
I cruised ,rode hard ,hit some nice farmilar curves and hoisted a few wheelies with it . Its all good. No downside.
Thanks to threadstarter ( Mospeada) for this cheap mod.. :thumb:

So how many of you have had their BUSA on a road course with and without this mod?

What gearing do you guys run as well as mods, hp and such?

I don't have the turbo on it for the road course. So the bike is essentially stock.

The reason I asked is that I like the mod but when I stepped up the gear(small track with little straights also at 5300' altitude) the throttle is way too snatchy and trying to maintain a small % of TP around a corner is a real bitch.

Now the facts. I wanted to run around the track in mostly 2nd gear and 3rd gear once on the longest straight. I'm a big guy @275 fully suited and the bike is stock weighing in @545lbs full tank of fuel. I was 18t and 43t for the turbo app but I decided to try a 16t and 46t combo. Great acceleration and the gas mileage goes out the door but with this gearing and the throttle mod a bit much.

I'm finding that I'm still not leaving at full throttle every time, even with the R1. So I guess I'm going to go R6. it isn't a daily driver, almost all strip, never expected to corner.  I think I'll be fine. I'll stick the R1 on my 04LE

Why dont you go in a gear or 2 high .
The drive out is not THAT important is it?
Busa has plenty of torque to keep up corner speed all the way through even at lower  rpm

Got the r6 tube.Found it a bit touchy coming out of roundabouts with the tre in and all short stacks 16/40 gearing.Without the tre the initail throttle opening softens alot so now no downside and a shorter twist to WOT.The tube seems for slightly thicker handle bars so rattles ever so slightly but less vibey than stock. This mod is staying put.

169 rwhp
16/40
165 lbs, bike is around 480 w/ a full tank

You're a big guy man, but that is a LOT of gearing for a street bike. I would really consider trying out 16/42 at best. With the R1 tube and essentially 8.5 teeth up in the back, it's no wonder the bike is super touchy.
Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: grecco on June 01, 2008, 07:14:10 PM
yeah, what he said.
that bike would be really touchy.

an r1 tube on 18/40 gearing on my bike works really well and not toucy at all.
but then again, the factors that help me are lowered compression and 1 tooth higher in the front.

id like to try the r6 and get a good comparison.
(shouldve tried the one i had before i gave it away)
Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle

Yea. I rode it around a little more and decided it's bit much. So I went to the stock 17t and left the 46t rear. Being at high altitude though the more gear really helps the lowend pull. To put into perspective, actual power up here is only about 128hp.

So I went to the road track today and found the gearing to be pretty good. I may have been able to go with the 16t and be in 3rd most of the track and only go to 2nd in a hairpin but that's ok. I hadn't been to the track in 3 years and did pretty decent a little better than my old Busa which made nearly 20HP more. Probably because of properly setup suspension and way better braking. Got a Brembo Master cylinder 19x20, HEL brake lines and SBS HH brake pads. All this allowed me to be smoother. I'm on the cusp of Intermediate to Expert at this outing.

Well, time to convert the bike to Street/Strip basher.....Turbo style....  :D

On a lighter side if you would be willing to strap on a tank bag and throw a 15lb weight in it and back it up with a gut busting breakfast I'd be willing to show you the best roads Malibu canyon has to offer. I see your GSXR-750 swing arm, and raise you 1 carbon fiber tank.

Dude, I didn't know you were in Malibu? I thought you were in the mid-west somewhere. Friends and I are planning to hit up ACH sometime soon, so when we get that planned, I'll email you to meet up. We just went to Malibu a couple of weeks back (ahem, INCREDIBLE winding roads, awesome views...........................pavement has left something to be desired).

Truth is, I haven't weighed the bike lately, I'm estimating. I got 473 lbs with 1/3 a tank. Then I added cf tank, alum adj kickstand, and c/f chain guard and raising links coming in soon. We're probably going to be right about the same weight. I still need to drop my fork 5 mm's to see how that feels, and I hope the raising links will help, I'm sure they would.

I dropped mine 10mm for about a month now and am going back to 5mm. The turn in with tight twistys is better but not worth the nervousness felt everywhere else. For my wheelbase and 7/8" up in the rear 5mm is just right. I would think you could do raise the rear and drop the front 10-12mm fairly easy without the bike feeling nervous. I agree 5mm is a good starting point. The roads here leave alot to be desired in their surface, so.... set the compression a little softer. It's all good, just don't let off the gas. Be sure to email me with your next Malibu run, staying away from Angeles Crest, the Import racers cant stay in their lane and too many people are getting hurt. There are more than a few canyon carvers here to show you where you can ride without fear. I'm a firm believer in letting the squids keep law enforcement busy. Basic rule of thumb is don't fly around areas with homes. We usually stop at The Rock Store mid morn on Sundays for Coffee.

remove seat and Raise tank, loosen and removed throttle cables from throttle bodies (10 & 12 mm wrench) remove right side bar end, remove 2 phillips head screws from bottom side of throttle housing on right handle bar.  seperate the 2 halves, remove throttle cable ends from throttle slide. then slide the throttle tube of the end of the bar.

just reverese sequence to put back together.

FYI: when putting the 2 halves of the throttle housing back together there is a tab that gets aligned into a hole in the handle bar, this must be inserted in the hole for the housing halves to go back together properly.  You will also have to adjust your throttle cables after the install.

that should be a quick and easy run down.

I did it without lifting tank or disconnecting down below but I think it wouldv'e been easier your way.

you may have to adjust your throttle cable at the TBs if you notice it idling too high than normal. Also can help throttle response if you have just right.

itss not the washer. The top throttle cable when you lift the tank. If I remove the cable from the bracket it snaps back. In the bracket, barely moves(throttle stays open). Could it be the bottom cable?

Are you sure the cable is routed correctly on the tube? The return should not have anything to do with it. something is up with the pull cable

Hi everybody!

New Busa owner here with a 99 copper...
Just did the quick throttle mod and it's sticking for me as well..
The washer is on the outside, I've loosened all the cables as much as possible and it snaps back but not as
quick as it used to be...
If I twist it in neutral to 5k it keps it for a split second and then it takes half a second to go back to idle..
Tried adjusting the cables but if I tighten them ever so lightly it sticks open completely and won't return...
Lubed up the cable's throttle bodies and everything....

What did I do wrong??
Or should I jsut wait a week and see if it get's "worn" and starts to work normally??

TIA!

Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: Mospeada on June 26, 2008, 05:59:17 PM
Loosen them, don't tighten them.

Make sure the 'cap' of the cable is screwed into the underside of the throttle 'box'.

Prop the tank open and 'play with it' until it's snapping back, but not with too much slop. It just requires a little adjustment, so adjust a little at a time.

If you still have problems, take it to a dealer and they can adjust it for you in a couple of minutes.

you have 2 adjusting nuts on both cables, be sure that all 4 are loose and then see if it returns slow if its good, adjust as needed. if still sticking disconnect  return at throttle bodies, see it it is free then. if so adjust bracket. if still tight. don't know unless I see it

I just did this mod last week took about 15min, I didn't have to remove the tank.  If your throttle is sticking make sure your grip is not rubbing. I am using  after market gel grips that are just a little longer so there is no space at the end of the bar .

Woow... What a load of replies!!
Thanks! :D

I've loosened the adjustments under the tank as much as possible, the nuts at the handle is as loose as they can be but I didn't disconnect the return cable, gotta try that and see if it gets better... That way I know which is cable is sticking..
The cap is screwed in...
The thing is that there aren't any slop at all.. Perhaps a mm play at the TB's if you move the cables up and down..

Tried without the grip first but it stuck anyway...

I'll get back on it tonite..

Thanks again!

just keep adjusting. I was very frustrated. When the top cable was out of the bracket it worked perfect, place it back in bracket with no effort at all and it would return slow. My rpms go up a little if I turn the bars all the way to the right. BUT IM NOT GONNA FUCK WITH IT ANYMORE

My rpm's go up also but only if I'm close to a full turn to the left, haven't noticed it turning hard right. No effect turning at signals that I take notice of.

I must be a lucky one as mine works perfectly with absolutley no issues whether straight or turned. I did have to adjust it when I originally installed it which it idle at around 2k at first. I adjusted both cables and no problems since. Mostly adjusted the return cable.

Great mod !  one of the simplest and best mods you can do and get the most results from.  Perfect for the street , doesnt make the throttle to twitchy for the street, but is really helpful on the track.  and found about it here on this site . best $17 i ever spent ! :thumb: :thumb:

I will have to try this mod on my 08 Busa. You guys got my curiousity up as I was sick of having to practically use two hands like wringing out a wet towel to get the grip to twist all the way around for max power.

you can also try moving your hand further forward on your grip before reving it up to your launch RPM so that you have less twist of your wrist to get it to Wide Open.

I found this helped me more than anything.. even with this mod if you're hand is not in the position to allow you to twist the grip all the way you're still not gonna get there or take longer than you'd care to to get there..

I like the feel of dropping my elbow to my side - this way it insures me that I am at Wide Open and there's to question.

Here's two videos to see what I'm talking about incase I didnt' explain it in words right.  :P

This video is from last year when I was runnin on the NOS and stock motor prior to the throttle tube mod...

This video is from this past Wed with teh RCC Turbo build and after throttle tube mod.. (now keep in mind I typically do not drop my arm this slow.. this was my first time back on the track since my wipe out in May and my left hand still is not completely functional so I think I was still apprehensive on launchin hard )

look up Vicki and Marshall (husband) Farr from Tulsa OK.  marshall was one of the first to make big blocks for big motored kawis and suzukis.  vicki was known for her long black hair in a tight rap, left the line and her pony tail stood straight out.  they are GREAT people that helped me in my racing career and were even better FRIENDS !!!  you definately need to meet vicki and family!  Ask em about the time we stomped scorpions in our bare feet !!?  haha, lots of great memories !!!   did a article on her for Hot Bike magazine in the early 80s.  they are the great people and vicki was definately a womens lib pioneer in motorcycle dragracing !!  great to see we have another female we can look up to now and add to that very short list !  hope to see you soon on TV and in the Finals !!  have a great career !     until later...     :clp:

Can this be done with the throttlemeisters??
Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: busamedic13 on August 16, 2008, 06:09:51 PM
throttle tube is the same, just faster ramp rate for the cable which = faster throttle response.  throttlemeister doesnt know the difference, still mounts the same.
Title: Re: Best $17 mod - quick throttle
Post by: Headshot on August 16, 2008, 06:50:34 PM
According to everyone there is a larger gap between the tub and bar end, this would make a difference right? Because the throttlemeisiter wedges against the tube to hold the throttle at desired speed.

Well, I emailed them and sent a pic showing the gap.  The person who responded (Fred) asked if the throttle tube is plastic.  I couldn't remember for sure but told him I thought it was.  He said:

"If it is indeed plastic, it shouldn't be a problem."

I have the R1 and it works good on the street but the R6 would be better if your only go straight. Man, with a lot of gear -1/+6, the R1 throttle is way too twitchy in corners for me, I can't imagine what it would be like with a R6 mod....

i have an r6 tube on my stock height stock length turbo bike stock geared (at the moment) lowered compression.
i had the r1 tube on there.
r6 tube is definetly touchy.
im no dragracer and im more into curves.
r6 tube, definetly not for the faint hearted in the curves. i love it.
its like a loaded gun, but now it has a trigger with a very hairy trigger... :P
jmo.

the only "problem" ive had,
its hard to maintain normal speed because of the sensitivity of the throttle with the r6 tube.

Just got back from a 200 mile trip with the R6 throttle tube on my 08 turbo...MAN what a difference. I had no problems what so ever keeping a consistant speed and I found it much easier to pass, accelerate, etc. Best move I've made since the turbo upgrade. I had the R1 tube on before the R6 and couldn't tell a big difference from stock...R6 is much bettor.

Let me guess, it's like a 1/8 of a turn is more like a 1/4 turn now. What a pain in the arse I'm sure. But for us older guys it keeps us alert and from falling asleep on those long droning highway trips.

If anyone's interested, I just installed a Vista throttle-lock on my R1 tube.  I used the Yamaha model made for single or double cables.  For some reason the R1 grip rubber "flange" is too large in diameter and rubs around the circumference on the Vista unit.  I had to trim it down using a razor knife.  The Yamaha uses a different throttle assembly of course and I couldn't use the little spring steel pieces they give you to hold the Vista from rotating.

To get around this I cut a small piece of thin sheet steel with two holes in it (drill the holes before cutting.)  It's about .75" X .5"  One hole lines up with the closest 'Busa throttle cable "hold down" screw.  The other hole lines up under the rectangular-shaped boss on the bottom of the Vista.  The homemade piece goes directly under the hold-down screw head, followed by a fairly thick washer, then the stock hold-down plate.  This assembly order spaces the sheet metal piece out a bit so it lines up with the bottom of the Vista, while allowing the hold-down plate to work as designed.

I drilled a small hole through the rectangular boss in the bottom of the Vista i.e. up from the bottom and used a 3/8" lg.l #6-32 screw to hold the sheet metal piece onto the throttle lock.  I'm not sure this was necessary as the sheet steel piece buts up against the Vista tightly enough to stop it from rotating.  Obviously I drilled the hole with the unit off the bike.

I'm not sure if I can take a photo of this or not but can try if anyone is interested.  I've been a fan of throttle-locks for a long time but like the R1 tube so much I had to find a way to make this work.  The "fast idle" lever can also work but there's not enough travel to provide meaningful assistance at anything over 50 mph, even adjusted as far out as possible.

Im not 100% sold on this yet. I just installed the throttle tube on my bike. I HAVE NOT YET RODE IT TO CONFIRM. But i did make a mark on busa throttle tube to bar, then turn to full throttle and made mark on bar where mark on throttle tube was.  Installed r1 throttle and make mark on tube where mark was on bar, turned throttle to wot and mark lined up with wot mark on bar from busa tube. Like I said have not rode it yet as im doing alot more to bike and its not ridable, but just from the marks i would think there was no change.

Ok,
I have an update that may help...........or not?

I have recently ordered BOTH, the R1, and the R6 throttle tubes from 2 different companies.
It SEEMS as tho, Yamaha is only using 1 part now, for both part numbers.
I had a left over R1 tube that was still in the package, so I ordered an R6 to compare.
IDENTICAL!!!
Thinking that Ron Ayers might be shipping the wrong part, even tho the part numbers coincide,
I ordered another  R6 tube. AGAIN, IDENTICAL!
Now I have an R1 tube, and 2 R6 tubes that are with their respective packages, and all 3 are the same, so I order from another vender. The package came in today, and guess what??

It's IDENTICAL to the other 3 that I already have. I measured everywhere there is to measure, with a digital caliper, and there is NO difference.

I know people here have had both and say they are different.
All I know if i've gone thru 4 of them, from 2 different places and the ones I got are identical!
I have no idea which one I have. I think it's the R1, because it's different, but not all THAT different???

I decided to do a comparison of throttle tubes from various bikes. Unfortunately I don't have the stock Hayabusa tube handy so you will have to use your imagination on that. Anyhow, I have thrown in a few other tubes just for comparison sakes. The correct R6 throttle tube to use is listed below.

1985 Kawasaki 750 Turbo - Part# - 46019-1059
2008 Kawaski Ninja 250R - Part# - 46019-0001
2004 Kawasaki ZRX1200R - Part# - 46019-0001
2006 Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R - Part# - 57110-46E01
2004 Yamaha R1 - Part# - 4YR-26240-02-00
2006 Yamaha R6 - Part# - 2C0-26240-00-00

Diameters: Give or take  .10mm +/-

750 Turbo - 31.50mm
Ninja 250R - 36.75mm
Yamaha R1 - 36.85mm
Yamaha R6 - 40.75mm
