Title: 08 busa exhaust
Post by: backwardcap on July 27, 2008, 05:47:43 PM
Hi Im  a new owner of 08 busa. I really dont like the stock pipes. Can anybody recommend pipes that will help the look as well as performance?

best pipe out for power loudness and making it known you are there while sounding good but not stupid and too much is the alien head from Brocks/Hindle. Drops about 30 pounds. Tucked in like a moto gp style exhaust. I love it.

Yeah, if you want to get raped in the ass for over  $1000.00. Their is not any pipe out there worth that kind of money unless you are an all out racer for a living or for money. If you are just looking for a nice sound and a little bit of enhanced performance, go with Yoshimura or 2 Brothers slip on. If you like the GP style go with the Hot Bodies exhaust.

How is he getting raped...?

Any full system is going to run you around $1k for the BUSA.  How is that not worth it when you are dropping 30lbs. and gaining over 10rwhp with Brock's system.  Not to mention you get free PC maps with it.

So you want him to pay $600 for slip-on mufflers ONLY that save maybe 5-8lbs. and give him maybe 2-3rwhp...?  Wow, that sounds like a sweet deal...

I'm sure the few lbs he will save are not going to make a huge difference with a Hayabusa unless, like I stated in my post, he is racing in big competition races. For the extra $400-$600 to shave off a few lbs, it really is not worth it in my opinion.

Big competition races?? Seriously that is ignorant. The weight reduction and extra power will make the bike perform better all around on the street and strip if needed. Dual exhaust is ugly as hell anyway. Plus he mentioned in his original post tht he would like an exhaust that helps with performance. I pretty sure last time I checked anybody in their right mind would want to lose 30 pounds from their bike as it helps with turn in and braking.

All I am saying is that a full system is not worth the money to me unless I am going to be racing.

That is fine to have your opinion. But to say he is going to get raped is stupid. Everybody thinks performance comes in different ways. He asked a pretty straight forward question. For $600 slip ons do not give a great performance gain. Just noise. To me $600 for noise is getting raped. Might as well pony up that extra $400 and turn your bike into a new machine.

Dyno charts have shown that slip ons provide a small HP gain. You not only pay for noise you also pay for better looks as well.

So you are okay with paying $600 for a small HP gain and better looks but....

....don't want to spend another $400 to loose 30lbs, gain 10+rwhp, better handling, shorter braking, etc...etc...that you will actually notice and feel when riding the bike...

Sounds like you got raped on some slip-ons...  :rfl:

Tell you what, throw 30lbs of weight into a backpack and ride around for a week.  Then ride without the weight for a week and come back and tell me it's not worth getting anything but slipons.  A full system turns the machine into a completely different bike.  Less weight and more power = WIN WIN!

Ok, i'll be sure thats the first thing I do today is get a backpack with 30lbs in it to ride around with, and then next week you will be the first person at the top of my list to contact about the 30lbsI took out of my backpack.   :eh:

I ride 2up most of the time with a 110lb girl on the back so I am not worried about the " so called 30lbs" I'll save, so I'll stick with my slip ons.

By the way, I was just giving MY opinion on a full exhaust.  :thumb:

Your opinion is fine but when you come into someones thread and immediately tell them they are getting ass raped by buying something as common and proven as a full exhaust system, that's not only ridiculous but not cool.  I'm just giving my opinion though, good day...

Slip ons are for people who cant afford and dont have the patients to wait for a full exhaust....Full exhaust is always better. Hell I dont even consider "slip-on's" an upgrade!!! :?

Brocks full system is the way to go  :thumb:

I'm not trying to start anything but that slip on comment made no sense at all.  There are lots of good exhaust pipes out there but on the 08 I would personally get a Brock Pipe and with everything setup right I've seen these bikes make close to 200 rwhp and like everyone else said a huge weight savings.  I think the stock pipe is close to 48lbs with the header and cans and the Brock pipes are between about 8 and 15lbs.  I'm not sure if the person that made this statement is very savvy on gaining power with performance upgrades or how much power you gain by dropping weight but going with a full exhaust system is one of the best and first upgrades a person wants to do on a busa.  Thanks

I had it done by a local guy. You can't get the alien head from Brock in black. Glad you like it. Lots of other mods coming this weekend.

wow thanks  for the replies . I think I really like the full exhaust idea. I researched the brocks alienhead and Im really intrested in making thaat my first upgrade on my 08 busa. Ilike the idea of the weight loss and the extra horses. No Im not competitive racer, but I want to go alittle faster and get rid of the hideaus stock pipes. thanx

I went with the yoshi r-77 full system. Slip-ons really don't make sense at all. I lost 35 lbs. with the yoshi full system, best looking can IMO. I actually noticed the huge weight difference with the new system. Sounds good after you rip the baffle out. Not as loud as the brocks, but does sound really good. Yoshi all the way!!! The brocks is good too though.

Not to change the fun here, but if you add an exhaust does it effect the warranty? or if you have a problem do you just throw the stock one back on. just wondering.

Depends on the dealer but most don't like after market exhaust.  Some dealers will cover repairs if they installed it some won't, it just depends...

That brocks alien head sounds sick and is a really good full system. But it is ugly as hell, IMO it looks really dated on the new busa
