Godspeed Dave. Prayers sent to the family.
I was fortunate enough to have Dave come out to Bonneville this past August to tune our bikes. We spent 6 days straight talking about everything under the sun. Dave's phone would constantly ring as we were working on the bikes, at dinner, in impound etc. Dave always made time for everyone no matter what.
When Josh would call you could feel Dave's love for his family.
Dave,Scott Guthrie and myself had some plans for 2009 and we will go forward knowing that's what Dave would want us to do.
It was a honour to work with you Dave if only for a short time. i will cherish the time and remember you as a true champion and great human being. Godspeed Dave until we meet again.
-
Oh no! Dave, I hope you're alright! Let us know asap!!!
Thanks Guy!

I heard some real bad news and hope its not true. my prayers and thoughts are with dave and the others there and his family. :(

Dave went thru the traps at about 216, his head was down. His bike is in pieces. Dave went down hard. His son Josh is here and was at the impound area when Dave went down. Everyone here is in shock and the event is closed until possibly tomorrow.
He was a good friend, I'll miss him dearly. Prayers to him, his son and family.
I'll post more when the investigation is done and more details go public.

Never met Dave but I'm so used to him posting on here. Is this really happening?
Rest in Peace, brother.
I'm....sorry. Terribly sorry for his family.
When ready, I would like to help his family if I can.
-
Most everyone knew of Dave and his work for years. I met Dave at Maxton in June while he was tuning Charlie to 250+ MPH runs. We spoke several times for only a few minutes at a time over the weekend.
While Dave was at Speedweek with Jason I spent quite some time with Dave as we were in impound a few times and Jason lives there during the events. Dave spoke about the sense of family and how the proudest moment of his life was when Josh threw his leg over the bike and entered the Maxton 2 Club. I know it sounds too easy to be true but I just spoke to someone closer to Dave and he mentioned Dave said the same thing.
It has been a tough year for LSR, both two and four wheeled competitors.
It is truly a sad day. Hang in there Josh, our prayers go out to you and your family.

God Speed Dave! I was just down at ATCO B.S.'n with him.

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! :( :( :( :( This is fucking crazy, I was just with Dave last week. I have known Dave for a few years threw the board, but only met him in person this summer. We have since become really close and where in the process of negotiating going into business together. We have been keeping it under raps until everythinhg was finalized and we knew what was going on. The only person I ever told was Dave Gowland, because it slipped out one night I was talking to him. I was actually going to get to be in business with one of my idol's , as well as a very good friend. It's tragic how life can change in the blink of an eye. In the short time I knew Dave, he had become a good friend of mine, I mean a really good friend. I can't believe I (we) lost him, he was at my garage the other fucking day!!!!!!
Whoever on the board who has Josh's contact information please get it too me.
I can't believe my friend is gone......... I can't stop crying............. WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GODSPEED my friend, I shall never forget you..............
I'm sorry I can't write anymore......
-
Gosspeed and prayers go out to the family.. may god be with them in this time a need.. god bless.
-
does anyone know if the lakeville Mass address from New Limits is where to send cards?
The lakeville address is where he lives now, no family lives there with him. He was renting part of a house from a lady, I doubt that will be the place to send mail. He just got back from Lee's Performance and was the first place he took to get restablished here, so he doen't have much of a tie to that address and none of his family lives there with him.....
-
GODSPEED DAVE!!!!! You will truly be missed!!!!

-
yes , very bad news.
only talked to him a couple times , but he came across as a great guy.
:(
-
I'm stunned, absolutely numb.
Ever since I met him for the first time on what was labeled the .org Madness Run II in 2001 (the one where Hapo rear ended me at an intersection to end the day), he was both a friend and mentor. With minimal financial dealings between us, calling me a "customer" of his services would be laughable, I learned more about what makes motors really work from him than I have from anyone else.
When he lived in Mass., I was at his house a handful of times, met his wife and family, all of them had the same open friendliness that Dave always displayed. Dave was more than a class act, his upbeat attitude spread to all those around him.
DaveO always said I was slow.
Dammit, Dave, now I'll never catch up.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
-
Dave helped me fix my bike over the phone even though we had never done business together before. He was very helpful and a good guy. Much will be lost with his passing.
RIP
Mark
-
Dave was with me on the starting line my first few times at maxton. Without his tips on what to do and not to do I never would have run the speeds i did. Anyone that had daves help benefitted from it in some way. That was the type of person he was.
Josh is there now with my dad (busa200) and asked if he could help. It is beyond me how he is even staying at the track other than it hasn't sunk in yet. Sounds like they will be running today as dave would've wanted.
Just got word busa200 259.8mph. Just some of Daves accomplishments.
-
I am in disbelief and very sad I cant believe we have lost Dave O !!
I also just had gotten a call from him Thursday morning and talked a Little bit of racing and whats going on
in each others life his plans my plans etc, and that he was happy to be by his sons.
He was a very good person that I will miss and will never forget !!
Take care Dave O we ALL will miss you !!
Sal.

Rest in peace. Dave helped me me out so much with my busa tuning. Worked all day for Lee and on the phone till all hours helping us racers. It is so hard to take this, what a great guy, such a sad loss. My heart goes out to his son Josh and his family. I'm crushed and in shock. Bruce Mead Ithaca, NY GOD SPEED DAVE O THE BEST TUNER BAR NONE !
-
Dave will be missed. Rest in peace.
-
MAN! I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE IT, NOT DAVE MAN, THAT' S FUCKED UP..YOU AND THE FAMALIY WILL BE IN EVERYONE PRAYER'S DAVE, THIS IS FUCKED UP.
-
Dave was one of those people that nobody ever had anything bad to say about him. Not many like him in this world. We have lost one of our best today.
-
I'm shocked and saddened by this terrible news.
My sympathies to the family and friends of Dave Owen.
-
DaveO's son Josh, will drive his fathers truck back home with trailer. Lorna (Daves ex) was supposed to fly here to Maxton tomorrow. Please wait with cards until we can get an address that everyone can use. I'm told that DaveO will be going home in the next few days after arrangements can be made by his son and ex-wife.
All we can tell you now is that DaveO went thru the traps at 216mph, his head was down as he did. He never raised his head again and went left after the finish line. Bike in pieces, Dave went instantly. Massive injuries. His bike is in impound with ECTA officials and under accident investigation by the best, Scott Guthrie.
His son Josh asked that we start the meet up again and we went racing as of about 3pm after the ambulance returned.
It was a terrible sight, only a few saw the aftermath and I wish I hadn't. I will never forget you DaveO.
Here's a little story (http://www.1st-to-the-finish-line.com/news/news-nitrous.html).
Guy
-
r.i.p. and godspeed dave owen. i never heard or read anything but good things about him.
-
thanks guy :thumb:
Get ready for more then. Dave's son took Dave's place! Charlie just called and said that he's in shock still but wants this record for his dad. Josh is on the starting line giving him tips and reminders that Dave would been telling him.
-
R.I.P. Dave O. I got to meet Dave at the Texas Mile in March. I have been on this board for a few years and have asked a few questions along the way. Dave would respond whenever he knew the answer, just to help someone to do what they love to do a lil better or faster or easier. He never knew who I was, just a board member and avid rider. I thought he was great to take even just a second and answer. Wish I could have learned more from him. The few minutes I got to talk to him at the mile was not enough.
I would love to donate or contribute to his son and family when the time comes. Please keep us informed on a good address at some point.
Sad day for our sport :(
-
Dave just called me last week to see how things were going.I cant believe he,s gone R.I.P. brother and may god bless your family :(

Godspeed, Dave Owen

IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE HE'S REALLY GONE....
-
I have a message from a close friend of Dave's here in Ma and she wanted me to post this
"His life has revolved for many years in bikes. His son Josh when he was little would go downstairs in their shop and help him for hours with wiring harnesses and anything else they could do together. They were attached at the knees and any help and support that they can give Josh would be great. He will be sadly missed by me. We speak at least 3 x a week and he was looking forward to this weekend. This is devasting to the sport and to everyone involved.
Everyone please hold your head up, " Dave died doing what he loved the most!"
Lauren, Josh, & Jakie I will pray for you and I hope some peace can come from these postings!
Sincerely, Kathy "His Punk"

my heart drop today when i heard the news. i still can't believe he's really gone....

15 minutes ago, I opened my mailbox and low & behold there was my ECU for my 1000. I gave it to Dave O last Sunday at Maple Grove for him to extend my rev limiter, and he said 2 weeks to do it. He called me Tues, 2 days later, and told me it was done and he wanted to ship it to me before heading to Maxton. Little did I know that was the last time I would ever speak to him again. Glad I paid him last Sunday at the track for it. What a sick feeling I have in my stomach at this moment in time. He gave me some Busa tech tips Tues on the phone that I never knew about.
His death is a LOSS to this sport .... that guy was a WEALTH of knowledge ....
He mentioned to me he had 2 sons ..... we all need to keep them in our thoughts & prayers.
See you in the next life, Dave.

I just heard the news. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave @ Goliad this spring. Always puts some things in perspective.
RIP Dave. I'm sure every day is a fast day.

I really cant believe this, I got the call and was very upset, as we all are. Dave was a great guy, he would always offer his help if you needed it....
This is a huge loss to this sport.
Dave was simply put, the best........
We will see you again Dave...........

unbelievable news...
this is terrible.

unbelievable.....it's huge loss. RIP daveo

A total tragedy. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
Speed is a dangerous mistress.

I am still here in disbelief about dave passing.. I am not even sure what to say other than he was doing something he LOVED.. may he rest in peace.. I didnt read everyones posts or any other thread but i do believe we should take a collection up for his family as he has helped 100's if not 1000's of people in his time here on the board for free and because he loved the sport.. Anything i can do please PM me..
RIP DAVE O
Mike

I'm at a loss for words..... Dave has helped and inspired so many in the sport over the years and accomplished so much. I met him last October at Maxton and although he didn't know me, he took the time to say some kind words of encouragement. I wish I could tell him just how much those words meant to me coming from someone I admire and respect so much.
My deepest condolences to his family and friends, he will be missed and always remembered.
Rest in Peace, Dave.

A collection was and is still being taken up here at the Maxton tech trailer. I just got off the phone with Scott Valetti, President of the AMA/Dragbike Racing series and he is going to have a silent auction for DaveO at the World Finals in Gainesville. If anyone attends this event, you can help out also by attending the silent auction.
We never know our time and DaveO got to spend his last moments with his son and doing what he loved. I still can't speak about him without choking up. It could have been any one of us at that moment in time. I would rather have my friend back than to be a racer without him but that's not in the cards now. So I race to honor his memory and to be able to tell folks what kind of hero he was to me. I just don't know what to type except that I am one of the lucky ones to have known him personally and to have had him in my life for a few short years.
I know he's reading these posts.
-
man it's just so hard to know he's really gone...i still can't believe it....

I'm still in shock also, Like everyone here says, He ALWAYS help soooo many . i've spoke to hime a few times & his asistance was very much appreciated. Go Speed DaveO , he will be missed by many !!!! RIP

Like Guy said above. I'll bet Dave is reading these posts too. My personal belief is that he may well be on his way to a much better place. I'd like to think so and so I will. I'll think about him every time I race as well.

I am a longtime friend of Dave's (11years)! He was a great person and a friend to all he met! His heart was his bike and his work. He was always on a mission to break his own records. For all of you who were lucky to sponge some of his knowledge, keep what ever he taught you always in your mind.
Josh and Jakie were Dave's life! I am saddened to hear that Josh was at the track to witness this horrible and tragic event, however, I know that Josh must be very proud of his Dad. When Josh was young, he would sit downstairs in his fathers shop in the basement and work along side with Dave. He always looked like he was in awe of his father. Josh was so cute and he knew just as much about bikes as Dave did. This is a devistating loss for him. If anyone is with him now hug him and applaud him for his bravery!
In May when Josh made the record, Dave couldn't wait to call me and tell me how proud of his son he was! He was all choked up. Josh you have made your father proud.
When Dave moved back to MA he told me how happy he was to be close to both his boys again. He said his main reason for moving back this way was because of his boys. His plans were to buy a dirt bike and go riding with his youngest Jakie. He said Jakie really wanted to ride with his Dad and then off to Bettencourts he went. I don't know if he ever bought the bike.
The last time I spoke to him he said, "Off to Maxton, Wish me luck and I'll call you or IM you when I get back!"
Charlie----He has spoken so highly of you! I often kidded with him and asked if you 2 were getting married. You have made him so proud to do the work he does. Good luck tomorrow and make Dave proud!
Brandi--Dave thought you were awesome! He called me once and told me there was this little petite girl who could drive a bike as fast as the wind.....It must of been you. He loved women who could handle the speed.
Here back in MA everyone is devistated and lost for words. Lauren is speechless and all I could say was I'm sorry. Anyone who wants to setup funds please let me know and I would be more than happy to help out over here close to where his family lives.
Dave I will sadly miss our chats and your laughter/smile
May God give you wings to race through the clouds!
Sincerely,
Kathy (Your Punk) :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

ALL I to can say is WOW!. :grn: I purchased a ext ECU. Great guy and the sport of racing period has taken at serious loss. :( :(
-
Dave was truly one of the all time greatest. Not merely because of his accomplishments in Land Speed Racing but because of the genuine sincere honest and hard working person that he was. Dave was always willing to lend a hand or share advice and experience with anyone and undoubtedly changed LSR forever. He was on the leading edge of technology and took this sport very seriously with great professionalism.
Not so long ago he re-built and tuned one of my bikes at Lee's shop. He was a great friend to many. I will miss him tremendously.
Personally I'll never ever look down the concrete runway at Maxton again without his memory on my mind.
Godspeed Dave-O!!
-
Will be missed. Like it has already been said, he would go out of his way to help you. Thanks Dave O for helping me. RIP.

TODAY IS INDEED A SAD DAY FOR ALL OF US....WE WILL MISS YOU MY FRIEND....

I second that, I remember one year at maxton my bike was shutting off and he was literally pulling parts off his bike for me to try
-
Very tragic and a big loss. But the slogan on the shirt my race partner Jaime Barden used to wear each time we went to Maxton sums it up for all of us who've laid it on the line:
"I do not intend to tiptoe safely through life, only to arrive safely at death"
What a colorful and full life you led, Dave.

I have not chimed in on the board in a month or so & logged in this morning to see this. Dave has helped (touched) so many people on this board & doing what he was passionate about it is unbelievable. Mr.1507 will be missed dearly ,Dave had helped me since 2001 & I have read so much of him also helping others. He was a wealth of knowledge & a straight shooter & will be missed greatly. Trying to be positive I can only say that he went doing what he loved...........GODSPEED,BROTHER you were truly an inspiration & will be missed by many. Tears, Billy Penny

Unbelievable--I would picture Dave as one of the least likely to crash. He carried me thru my 1st meet 3 yrs ago-- very conscientious, knowledgable, with a heart of gold. Dave always lend a hand whenever I requested. He took time out from his move to MA to send me the DL32. A true genuine great guy to all. My thoughts and prayers go out to Josh and the family. DaveO will not be forgotten.

I did not know him on a personal level but saw him around at events. I have known Lee since I moved here in 2005 and would drop in from time to time for parts and advice. Dave would come out in his engine builders smock and be moving as fast as one could imagine just trying to help everyone. I could barely believe the news when I asked my neighbor in the pits "do you know what bike number went down". She said I think his name was Dave Owen. I was ready to sell my motorcycle at that moment. If someone that talented went down how do I have a chance? After Josh requested we continue the event I had serious reservations as to my involvement in the weekend. I pulled to the starting line and noticed Josh had a grin on his face when he saw my class number. The same class his father was in. At that moment I realized if he can be at the starting line hours after his fathers passing then I could continue on racing at the very least. For the first time in my riding career I wanted to be slow. Not slow to be safe but slow to carry on Dave's records and memory. Dave your were a good person and it shows through your children. Hoping you are in a better place. Geoff

I still cannot beleive such a great human being is gone. Dave and I met years ago at Atco and have been friends every since. I always was able to get him to sit down and have a drink with my brother and I after the race days events and chat about all sorts of things. We would talk about family and life all the time. On my way to Atco a few weeks ago he called and asked "Where are you? I know you are here somewhere". I replied that I was on the way and to meet me at the bar. That guy really liked that Captain Morgans! I got there and said let's talk about life Dave. So we did. He started off about his boys and some pleasure plans with them and then a few bussiness endeavors he had planned. We always would see one another at various tracks and would make eye contact, smile, and shake hands as soon as we were close enough to do so. He made it his duty to keep everyone around him motivated and focused. He was never confined in his thinking and was going to do the best at whatever it was he was involved in. Those who truly knew Dave know this. He was not a BS'er and did not like BS. He looked people straight in the eye and said what he wholeheartedly felt. Dave came up behind me in Richmond one day me and said "Dude you really know your stuff". I was in awe of this because I was always thinking the same of him. But I smartly replied, You da man, Dude! I could go on and on about my friend. I send my deepest condolences to his family and may God be with you. To my friend Dave, we will cherish your memory and build from the legacy you have left us with. Godspeed Mr Maxton!!!

I will be posting info about donations to help with funeral services as soon as I find out more info
as I learned two years ago with my mom's services, insurance usually will not pay for it immediatly
I had to pay out of my pocket and got reimbursed 14 months later
-
I'm in contact with Lauren and will likely be the (or one of the) contact(s) to post information. She is currently working on arrangements so that information will be available soon. I've told a few that I will set up a place for donations which I'll also get done today. My understanding is that life insurance is minimal at best and will likely only be enough to get them through the services. As posted above they likely won't have that money immediately.
More to come and thank you to you all.
Debbie

Dragbike.com has already established a memorial auction to be held at the final AMA dragrace and is accepting donations for Dave's family. Surely some of us can help to. Here is a link if you want to get involved in that way.
Dave helped all of us now it is our turn to help his family.

As soon as Rick Stetson gets me the info I will post where to send any help we can
personally I would rather send what I can directly to the family to help with the expenses, rather then the funeral home
13580 members if everyone sends something we should be able to help the family......I will let everyone know where and when to send what you can, PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give something
how many of us have benfited from Daves selflessness, and he asked so little.
I will keep everyone posted

A new locked sticky might be a good idea at that time so we won't need to look for the information in this thread. I know that mods will assist. Locking it will keep it succinct with just the information that we all need to contribute. JMHO

RIP Dave O. My Family's prayers go out to your Family at this time of great suffering and loss.

Hope that we will somehow find a way to communicate back to Josh and Jake Owen (MA) how well Dave was appreciated all over the world. He was not only the worlds fastest rider and a skilled tuner, but also a true ikon of integrity and caring personality. Very few persons touches life of so many with leaving such a positive remark to everything he did - with strong passion.

Has anyone heard from Brock Davidson, Dave was very close to him and spoke to me often about Brock. I want to call him, but still can't speak about it, I hope he is doing OK.
I wish this Sunday was not the first time I will get to meet Josh......... This saddens me beyond belief..........

Brock has posted on this board in another thread. He's back in town and planning to be at the services. This of course has him busy catching up from being gone & getting ready to leave again. My condolences to one and all reading this.. especially those that have met and known DaveO... but even moreso to those that didn't.
Those that knew him are the lucky ones.. those that met or knew his family and his love for Lauren, Josh and Jakie are the most fortunate of all.
For those that didn't know him or his ways.... when you next meet a guy or gal that helps you for no good reason.... know that you just met a person that
most likley is getting some kind of influence in their life from Dave or someone very much like him... and don't forget to pass it on, and when you do feel free to say "Don't thank me, thank Dave O" afterwards.
Lauren, Josh, Jake & Tim... looking forward to seeing you all tommorow (we're in nowhere New Jersey right now).
All our love,
Todd and Deb

No one has heard from me for a while but the statement that Bad News Travels FAST "IS" True!
I was in Johannesburg South Africa at the Airport getting ready to return to the US and saw Brock in the Airport. I KNEW Something was not right when I saw him this time. The last time I saw him was at "TARLTON" (the Drag Strip) where he had made a few passes and was about as happy as I have ever seen him! All he said to me was Dave "O" Is Dead! I gave him my best stare Down and said "Not the Dave Owen I know that spend HOURS and Hours to pains takenly get my Data Logger set up and who I has just that day spoken to Bear Racing about flying him over the SOuth Africa to tune their Bikes?? unfurtunately the same one!
I never allowed Dave to use his money at "Captain Larry" (A good Seafood Place near Maxton) because after the time and energy he had used to get me set up, I could NEVER Ever Repay him! There is one difference between Dave "O" and all of the other Good Guys! The statement is that when you are Popular you are bound to be hated by Someone! I do not know of one (1) person that could hate Dave Owen! I was so upset that with 18 hours of flying time I could not get through a 2 hour Movie and never did see the End.
For those that did not meet him, I feel the Most sorry for! For those of us that did know him we were BLESSED to have had the opportunity of knowing him! As far as his fellow racers were concerned, NOTHING was too good for us and I suspect that because of this we caused some personal problems for him. I hope that anyone that reads this board can now understand that we all had a small part of him and he was too unselfish to save enough for those that may have needed more! All I can say to the Lord is thank you for the time we did have him!
On Drag Bike . com the contributions have now totaled over $25,000. What ever you can do, make sure you do it now because he gave us all he had when he was alive and it is now our job and pleasure to handle things for Dave since he is gone! I just could not look over here any earlier and I know everyone understands this!
-

I was thinking the same thing just the other day. I've never heard a single word about Dave that wasn't praise. You nailed it on that one.
-

If you also noticed I mentioned that he just "May" have been to un-selfish with his time because of his love of Motorcycles and others. Sometimes this is not understood by the Family and can cause "Problems"! I am a Lot Older than Dave and had to learn a new word Late in Life to keep peace and the Word was "NO"! Dave did not have Any Use for that word and I personally never heard him use it specially at times when I would have (On my own self). If I get to Heaven and look around and do not see him, I "KNOW" where I went!

No to ??What?? :):) (We are speaking Motorcycle Related!! :D
I went to a church that was across the street from another church where my Girl Friend at the time went. (16 / 17 years old at the time and of course knew everything "Even More than now") I would see that at least several times a month they would have a Funeral. So one day I said to her, My CHurch is Better than your church! We almost Never have Funerals in our church and your church is having them all of the time! She said to me, "Maybe it is because OUR People are ready to go and yours need more second Chances"!! True story and maybe it is true that the "Good" Die Young and us Older Sinners need more second chances! After all, don't most of our parents pray that the Lord taks us when he can save us? I strongly feel that this is what happened here! he could have been in Bed and the results would have been the same! The Lord does not make Mistakes even though we surely would like to question the "Timing"!
-
Vincent, Ironically, yes, we are talking motorcycles here! lol
It's funny you wrote that! My mother-in-law had a very similar analogy and analysis on the entire situation. I think she was able to asses it more quickly & clearly being removed from the situation. After Todd & I had time to think about it we realized that Dave had made great strides to get his life on track and make amends with many people that he was close to. We were happy for him that he found this peace in his life and that he was back North with the boys. We could then see that as in your words, he didn't need a second chance. He figured it out & got it right. I had this conversation with Dave's Mother at the funeral. I think it helped her to be a little more at peace with it all in the same way it did for us. We are sad that he's gone and we miss him dearly but our lives are so much richer for having known him. I know it sounds cliche but there's so many great lessons to be learned from the way he treated everyone that we could all be better people by remembering this and emulating it. The best way to honor him is to carry on in his ways.
It's great to hear from you Vincent. Hopefully some of this will help others find peace as well.
Debbie

I am glad you guys got to go to the Funeral! Specially to let his Mom know how much what she brought into the world was appreciated THIS Much! Again you are 100% Correct about how to live your life so that if the worse happens you have no regrets! The only thing I want on my Stone is "He was a Man of his word"! Dave was a man of his word and what ever he said he would do, he did! He did not know me from Adam but treated me like a life long friend with the Patience of Jobe.
I will not make it to Maxton this year but my heart is there! have a great weekend your guys!
-
Hey Vince, nice post.
You may not remember me, but I was pitted next to you at Maxton when I melted my motor, and DaveO was helping me out. You lent me a magnetic pick up and some other tools and were a real gentleman. My Dad enjoyed your comapany as well.
The funeral was nice, but a real tough weekend emotionally for everyone.
Be safe at Maxton this weekend, everyone!

Hey Kat, you punk,
The trip back was great in that it was uneventful.
My shoulder is getting slowly better. Therapy every day, and no more pain meds are needed. Slow but sure progress, thanks for asking.
I am looking forward to hearing good results from everyone racing this weekend. Keeping bus ywith all the kids activities the past few weeks has kept me hopping.
I will probably order some non-face shirts from you soon. Good to hear from you!
Walt

Just an FYI- I saw quite a few of these shirts at the mile this weekend. I was wearing mine. Nine second Jen was selling a batch of them that Brock provided. I bought another. Now we need to pray for Charlie. This has been a hard year.

My Last race was Last year in October when I was successful! I forgot to turn on the Arming Switch for 3 runs and then realized what I had done, Armed it and then turned up the NOS Pressure (Forgot to turn up the Fuel Pressure) and "Went for Broke"! Was about 204 in 5th and said bad words to myself "I am really going to set a record on this run" and that very second I heard and felt the bike slow! It looked like a person with a Plazma Torch had gone through my engine. Cutting 90 degree notches out of some valves and burning holes through the Cylinder and Piston in others. I have everything (and More) to completely redo the bike but stopped to catch up on EVERYTHING else I had stopped doing (Caught all of the Vehicles up to date (Stainless system on the Mini S now making about 200 HP and now finishing everything in the house.
Hopefully early next year I will be finished and BACK to work in the Basement where I can ride my bike into. All of the parts are everywhere and just need to be reassembled! I still have a lot of testing to do and hope to be finished by September next year!

I heard about Dave-O ... and I had to come on to give his family / friends support. Dave was a HUGE !!!!!!!!! help and source of knowledge when I was building my machines. I still can't believe this happened. He is such an asset to the entire Busa community and an amazing generous person.
My prayers to his family ... Dave will be immensely missed
One thing I will do - knowing Dave as I did - is that I will not be forever sad about him - I will smile that I knew him and know that he did what he wanted / loved to do - and that makes me happy.
Thoughts & Prayers to his family & close friends .. I am VERY sorry

Right on Rob...Havent heard from you in a minute , give me a ring Bro.

As I too, haven't been on this site for a long time, in reading through this entire thread gives me great hope to know that there are other great people that will carry on for Dave. As I remember Dave from earlier years of being here, he gave and gave of himself,, something not new to anyone who know him or read any of his selfless posts. I wish I had known him as some of you did. He will always be missed. Please accept my most humble thoughts and prayers of support for everyone he touched. I am truly sorry for the loss of Dave Owen. He is gone too soon, but never to be forgotten.

I spoke with some of the people that were there and have first hand knowledge of the events that day, the incident was investagated and all that can be said is nothing looks to be wrong with the bike, do not quote me on this as it is second hand I was not there and I did not know Dave personaly, spoke on the phone 2-3 times, very helpful, and I also would like to know with some assurance what really was the main cause of the accident

Dave sure was fun wasn't he? And Damn he could fix it.

wow, not the way you want to hear about another member. i've been gone for a long time and threads like these seem to be the only constant. great people in R.I.P. threads. it's an absolute shame. i can't say it any better cookie. i'm a little misty over here.

I'm sorry I've pissed off some people. It won't happened again. :(

Everytime I look at my ECM, I think of Dave. It's got his writing on it saying what he did to it. I had him flash it for me before the days of everyone having a flasher at home. I've got a flasher now and I really hate to take Dave's mojo out of my box. I may just turn shift light on and leave the rest. I don't need to change his settings anyway.
Ride on Dave. We all still miss you.
-
Dave and Chris will be riding together past the pearly gates! I am sure of it and I know Dave will look after Chris for Charlie just as he was his own Son.
RIP
DaveO and Chris

I am glad you guys got to go to the Funeral! Specially to let his Mom know how much what she brought into the world was appreciated THIS Much! Again you are 100% Correct about how to live your life so that if the worse happens you have no regrets! The only thing I want on my Stone is "He was a Man of his word"! Dave was a man of his word and what ever he said he would do, he did! He did not know me from Adam but treated me like a life long friend with the Patience of Jobe.
I will not make it to Maxton this year but my heart is there! have a great weekend your guys!
Nice post :thumb:

We are all diminished by this loss.................keep the faith and remember the man. It is like losing a family member. There is and will be a void. We can rest in the knowledge that Dave is now with Jesus Christ..............he is better off than we are, if truth be known. I Honor his memory.

Hello,
I would not want to touch old wounds, but Dave was a special person in my life, like a father figure to me... it's been 10 years since he came to San Francisco to tune my turbo busa, it was the happiest days of my life!
I hope Dave is in peace and is so his family !
I want to remember the man,the person and the one who would help us with our motorheads need - Rest in peace Dave Owen!

He was a tuning god.
