I am working with Walt on this project. I am in touch with one of Dave O's friends down here in MA who is a screen printer. I need a head count on how many would want to buy a memorial t-shirt that Walt had posted on yesterday under Funeral Head Count.
Does anyone have any ideas or thoughts on how much they would spend to buy a T-shirt for funds back to Lauren and Josh? Please let me know any thoughts you might have so that I can relay back to Bob and also how many people would be willing to buy one!

We'll likely buy 3. With funds going to the family I'd be ok with the $15-$25 range. Of course if you can do $15 you should get a better volume of sales.
To some it may depend on the design, to me I'm in either way.

i can't capitalize well, as i just had shoulder surgery and i am in a lot of pain. the tshirt idea was something my dad was going to look into tommorrow. i thought it would be really cool if we were all in xtra large white tshirts, with on the front, bold letters on top it said "MR. MAXTON", with the picture of him with helmet off sitting on the bike (see attached).
then on the back, on top in bold letters, two lines,
"IN MEMORY OF"
"DAVE OWEN"
and then the picture of him on the bike in a tuck and racing (see attached).

No problem. I will let you know as soon as I have a definate on all info and time permitting. Let me know if anyone wants to help with passing them out the day of. I dont' want this to be a circus outside because for those of you that don't know, this is a small funeral home with not much parking. I may setup in what we call the old Bradly's Mall which is 3 seconds from the funeral home. Maybe easier.

I want to start of by saying how inspiring it is tooo see the overwhelming amount of responses to helping Lauren, Josh, & Jake. I'm so proud of the bike community that Dave was involved in and I can see how much everyone appreciated him.
I am happy to announce that after speaking with Bob Mcelroy, he is going to begin the T-Shirt process today. As soon as he is done with the design, he is going to email me the finished product and I will post it on this thread.
T-shirts are going to cost him $7.25 to make. If you need a double XL it will cost $8.25 to make. Anything over this for the t-shirts will be a profit to Lauren, Josh, & Jake. I realize that alot of you have already put money out of pocket for this fund, but keep in mind that Jake is still young and many more expenses to come for the Owen family who is in need of our help.
The sale of the t-shirts will be $20.00 a piece. This will profit the Owen family $12.75 a piece after paying the cost of the t-shirt to Bob.
Whoever is coming to the funeral that needs t-shirts this weekend, please email me with subject line coming on Sunday at ksouza26@aol.com, as these t-shirts will need to be processed immediately. Please email me with how many you would like and how much that you paid into paypal.
Anyone who is not attending the funeral, please be patient as I am going to find out what shipping is and we will go from there.

After talking with her a few times, now I know why Dave and her were such good friends. She is a very sharp lady. We (ok, she, I can't take much credit here!) changed the the design a bit to a much better layout. Commuta_Busa also helped straighten out my bad ideas into good ones.
This is all tentative, but so far it looks like this:
The front of the shirt will have "DaveO" and under that the picture of him sitting on the bike.
On the back will be "In Memeory of DaveO (or Dave Owen), 1959-2008"
Then the picture of him in his tuck on the bike,
and underneath that some of his accomplishments as a rider and a tuner.
Great job, Kathy!!!! Thank you for taking the time to do this and dealing with all the logistics. She is going to go with an original run of 100 shirts, mainly to accommodate wake/funeral participants. The leftovers or additional tshirt runs will be to accommodate people who can't make it will be filled afterwards.
The t-shirt guy Bob has been very generous and kind enough to do this without payment up front for his services. The t-shirts cost him $7.25 each, and we are planning on charging $20.00 each. This is because the excess money is going to the family, and dealing with $20 bills is a lot easier than having to do $25 or $15 for purposes of change, etc.
Sha had some concern about making so many t-shirts in the event they wouldn't get sold. Bob the t-shirt guy and her would not want to get left holding the bag and having to go into their own pockets.
When I heard this, I laughed a little bit and told her not to worry about it. There are plenty of people who are going that would be more than happy to help with the reimbusement costs in the event of an overun, especially my Dad and I. People with a lot bigger checkbooks than I have, too! I am actually concerned that we may not have enough, but hopefully Bob the t-shirt guy can run some off at hte last minute if he has to.
By the way, Bob the t-shirt guy is pushing 3 other projects to the back burner to get this done in time for us. If Kathy would post up his website/email address/address, perhaps we could all email him a note of appreciation, or give him some business in the future if we need t-shirts.

We are only offering xl and xxl. Just email me at ksouza26@aol.com with how many and your sizes. this will be easier with short time for production. Most people can fit in these 2 sizes and don't mind them being big.

I am at a loss of words over losing Dave.
As soon as I can find the right words, I will post. There is simply to much pain right now and my head isn't clear. I have so many memories of Dave. I spent the past few days prior to maxton speaking to Dave several times per day. He called me at 1am to tell me he was only 20 min from the hotel and that him and Josh got there safely, and wondered if I got my bike issues sorted. He asked me to bring a suit and a brake lever for Josh. Even my reminder note to bring the stuff for dave and Josh makes me tear up right now.
I will post on the other threads when I find the right words.

I also just called Bob and had him add his accomplishment as a tuner with Charlie on it.
Final rough draft should be in my mailbox in 1/2 hour. At that time I will post a final for both sides.
Shirts are being picked up right now and printing is starting this afternoon.

When I was talking with Dave around two weeks ago,we were discussing when Josh got into the 200 club. What makes the story even more extraordinary is that the motor on his bike was hurt.It had a failing head gasket.It is hard enough to get over 200mph on an all motor bike but Josh did it on a naked all motor bike with a hurt motor!! It just shows how good of an engine builder-tuner Dave was.

To just be consistant, would it make sense to change the three super street accomplishments to read "Super Streetbike Top Speed Challenge Unlimited All Motor Class Winner 2006". In other words, just move the year to the end of each statement?
I don't mean to sound picky it just seems like it might "flow" better.

I like it the way it is. The two ECTA things on the left are different from the three SSB items so I like the way it's broken up.

To everyone who could not come up to "DaveO's" wake,
It was a true showing of appreciation to see how many people came to pay their respects to a wonderful guy! I think the line was wrapped all the way around the building at one point...:O) Afterwards 50+ went to Stoneforge and grabbed a bite to eat and shared many, many DaveO stories.
Out of 110 t-shirts their is only 8 left!! We also have an order 200+ to go out next week. We are still taking orders so anyone who wants one please email me.
Tomorrow morning at about 10:30 a.m. at the Dunkin Donuts Plaza on Cohannet Street in Taunton there will be about 40 bikes waiting to take off to the Funeral Parlor. At exactly 10:30 a.m we will be taking off from DD Plaza heading down Cohannet Street, Down Broadway, Back up by Coyle Cassidy High School, behind Morton Hospital, and onto the side street next to the funeral parlor where we will park for funeral services. After the service has ended, the 40+ bikes plus Taunton PD escort will lead "DaveO" to his place of rest. It will be an honorable send off for him.
Lauren and the boys are hanging in there but the weeks to come are going to be the hardest..Please make sure not to forget them as I'm sure they will love to see the posts in the weeks to come!

Kathy.. you are just awesome... there is absolutley no question why Dave cherished you as a friend soo much. Thanks for all you do for Lauren and the boys, and the friend you have been to "our Dave O"... it's an honor to know you and "your Dave" to say the least.
Everyone, if you could only feel the love and hear the stories of all of Dave and Lauren's friends up here... man, were we (as an online, drag racing and lsr community) priviledged to have them share such a friend and family member with us. I sure hope at least a fraction of the stories I heard in the last couple days here are shared with everyone that ever heard of Dave Owen.... his depth in this community is soo much more then the small part of the MC industry most of us came to know him by.
I can't even begin to say what a lucky man Dave was as well... to have people like Lauren, Josh, Jake, his mom and dad, his sister Sue and all these really great people in this area in his life. We've never been to Massachussettes before, but it is a pleasure to know that a community like this exists here... a nice place to call home!

Man., I can't say that NEAR as eloquently as Debbie put it, but I echo her sentiments to a "T".
Kat, no wonder Dave had you as a friend. You did a fantastic job with the shirts, and were a great conduit between the "locals" and us "out of towners", and I mean that in the best way possible.
It was really great to meet the Rt 24 Crew, "Where The Legend Began", made up of Joe, Joey, Bubba, and Mike (among others). This is all the guys Dave grew up with, riding on the streets and tearing it up. Hearing all the old schoool stories of Dave back in the day was really a highlight for me and others.
The turnout was great. People from all over the country were there, a true testament to the great person and friend Dave was to everyone.
And his family was great to see as well: Jake, Josh, Lauren, Sue, Mom & Dad: They were all so nice.
It was was sad, but there were good times too. The motorcycle procession was just fantastic. The Rt 24 Crew had Josh leading the procession riding in Dave's old spot when they used to go out and ride. Watching everyone ride from the funeral home to the cemetary, and then from the cemetary to the church hall was just awesome. The weather was supposed to be bad, but it turned out to be a beautiful day for a great sendoff to an even greater guy.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update.
I have the t-shirts packaged and ready to mail. The post office is closed tomorrow, 10/13 so I will be sending them out on Tuesday 10/14.
The last few orders that came in last week will be going out at the end of the week. I am waiting for another 22 shirts to be made to complete the orders.
Everyone should have their shirts either by the end of the week depending on where you live or at the beginning of next week, again depending on where you live.
For the person in Singapore, when I make the trip to the Post office tomorrow, I will find out how much it is to ship and post to you tomorrow. I htink your name is Kelly.

Todd (NARider) will have about a dozen of the Gen-2 shirts with him for sale at Valdosta this coming weekend.
I'm not sure which sizes are left but all were either XL or 2XL. If you want one reserved ahead of time PM me.

There were t-shirts in every direction you looked that had Dave overlooking the event and everyone there... made Josh think on a regular basis "wonder how that person knows my dad?" (and other's too no doubt, including myself). If he had asked everyone we saw it would of eaten up every minute of the event for sure.... very cool things these shirts came out to be - thanks for coming up with and following thru on a great idea and alot of work Walt and Kat!!!

How cool to hear that. It warms my heart to know that Josh, Jake, and Lauren were able to see via the shirts how many people truly cared for Dave. I'm sure Dave was watching over all and I think it's just so neat. Would have loved to been there to see it.
