-
00busa

-
52,000 miles and I bought it new.
Mark
-

-
I'm up to 22,000
-
I guess the 24k mine show's don't win.
-
61,000 on mine right now. Before I started working at the dealership I did 75,000 a year. I dont know what to do with myself now that Im not doing oil changes every other weekend and tires once a month!
-
16000 on the Busa, almost all with Turbo, 23000 on the Harley,s (mama won,t ride the Busa) and maybe 2500 on the Yamaha, this is only since I sold the race car in 05, would have had more on the Busa, cept old ass can't take those long rides on the Busa
-
Had 36k on my old 02, sold it in 06. Got a 07 have 8k on it now. Don't get to ride like I use to.
-
83,393 km's on mine.....works out to about 50,150 miles..................
-
55,000 on my 01. Still runs like new! :thumb:
-
Holy crap some of these #er's are insane! I have 2,814 on my 08...lol
-

-
have 82,000 on my 99. also have 185,000 on my 1971 honda cb750k
-
I only have about 45,000 on both my bikes combined.
-
I might be the winner for most miles in the shortest amount of time. I've only got 5 months time on my 06 and put over 8,000 on her. Does anyone beat that?
-
My 2000 have only 48,000ms
-
12000 in 6months
-
gotta buddy with 10000 on his 08 already!!
-
26,000 here on my 2000
this bike has seen so many setup changes over it's life
so far my fave was the 1397 with ported head and .402/.378 cams and spray
turbo is fun but harder to dragrace without a boost controller
-
I read a post a while back of a guy who was getting ready to turn over 99K miles, but got into a wreck or blew the motor or something.
-
Pushing 30,000 on my Y2K :!: Have a buddy with 78,000 on his 01 :!: :)

-
16k in less than a year
(http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg88/uzimon/2.jpg)
-
I Have just over 64,000 miles on my Y2K, with 59,000 miles on the 1363 Wiseco's I installed back in 2000. I also manged to put 35,000 miles on my old ZX-9, 6000 on another Busa and 11,000 miles on my ZX-14 in about the same time period as the Busa. So if i didn't have those other skoots the Busa would be a bit higher!!

Congratulations! That is a huge testament to a lot of pure enjoyment there! :thumb: :thumb:
What all have you had to do with it regarding adjustments, tuning, etc in those miles? Mainly all stock, yes?

My '99 Busa has between 130 & 150K on it.
I've got between 1 and 1 milliion miles... :hys:

05 with 41k on mine. Since I graduated from college and have a steady job I don't ride as much as I used to.
-
Dang I thought I had alot at 31K on my 02.
-
Right around 60,000 on my '99. All the normal fuel pump issues, CCT recalls whatever. It's been pretty rock solid with decent maintenance. Finally decided to check the valves a couple weeks ago. Never had the cam cover off before then. They were all still way within spec. Talked to a Busa mechanic I know and he said it's really rare for them to be out of spec until at least 85,000 miles. I wonder why they want you to check 'em every 15K?

Probably just to make sure everything is fine. If somethin is happening in there its good to catch it early. these posts definitly reasure me. I was thinkin my busa's engine life was about up....even though she still runs super strong.
-
06 busa, 23k. Don't ride anywhere near as much as I'd like to... :(
-
Got a buddy that buys a new busa every year and puts about 35k to 40k every summer. His 1st one was in 01.
I got 18k on my 01

He doesn't work so that's all he has to do is ride when the weather is good. There is no way in hell I could do that many miles on a bike in one summer.

That's been the same since inception. They simply want to make money on something that basically doesn't need any servicing.
Did you decide to hang on to it then? :D

Mine has ~96k but it's in km.
Nice round number: http://www.hiekkalaatikko.org/100000.jpg (http://www.hiekkalaatikko.org/100000.jpg) :)

Glad to have those other skoots to help keep the miles off the Busa.

It really all depends on circumstances. I know a guy that puts, or used to put 80k min per year on a bike, he was a messenger. Does that count?
I had 57k on my 00 in 04 just before it hit a rock wall.
I don't count mileage so much anymore. It's more about quality of ride for the mile.
Logging big miles just means grinding along anymore for ME.
Having fun while logging miles is the most important aspect. For me. 8)

Nicely put, I agree. I new a guy in Cali who bought an 07 R1 new, wrecked it early 08. He had roughly 65K when he wrecked it. He had to replace the guage, by the end of 08 he was in the 70K. I think it was geared, but thats still over 100k in one year. I really dont think the guy slept at all, just rode his bike EVERYWHERE. When he would stop in at a bike night to say hey, he was there for like 10 min then off to ride some more. And that bike mind you still purred like it was brand new.
-
Mine is a 2002 model with me for 5 years plus,145k plus in Km though :D
-
02 16666 <--
-
You might want to hurry up and put another mile on that thing ! :)

12 month old '08 16700mls. my rear wheel bearings blew out with 06660 mls exactly, on the clock :o
-
I read there are a few members that have cam chains that got noisey or failed with what I consider low miles on there bikes. Am I wrong to expect 100K+ trouble free miles on the cam chain? I presently have 60K miles on my bike and the motor is just as quiet as new. Any ideas on why it would fail prematurely? Bad oil? excessive abuse? ????????

Machines are machines. They are inherently prone to failure by nature of their constant movement. When each machine is built separately by hand certain things can and do fail unwillingly before what could be considered normal scheduled wear and tear.
Yes, there are many, if not few, that had problems with their CCT in the beginning. But keep in mind that the tensioners that started with the Hayabusa went through a discovery phase up to today's perfected model. To date, there have been a total of four re-designs of the 'Cam Chain Tensioner' used in the Busa. The first wasn't that well known and consequently, the second was thought of as the first and the overall "Suzuki Service Bulletin' re-call's were done to be the actual third . GenII Busa's now have the fourth newly revised model.
If your Hayabusa is running smoothly and experiencing little to no chatter, chances are that your bike either had a "re-call" upgrade performed to it, or it is merely wearing a newer issue design.
-
01 with 14 and some change
-
I'm just having the CCT, chain etc... on my 2000 changed now. I bought it with about 27,000km on it with the CTT recall already done. It now has 140,000km, but has been rattling away for quite some time.
I ride daily in rain and snow as well as shine, but have rarely taken it above 5000 revs, so it's not really been abused.
-
Here's mine in 2 years and 3 months.
(http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4011/4197607507_43af42d60d_b.jpg) :beechug:
By the way, my goal is to put 100,000 miles on her in 3 years. Hopefully, I can reach it by the end of this year.
-
You're soon be sailing pass me. Any mechanical issues?
-
You're soon be sailing pass me. Any mechanical issues?
Nothing major. Just normal scheduled service and the only two things I remember were cush drive and fork seals.
-

Why are you doing the recall again if it was already done, Blue?
-
The mechanics say the tensioners wear out and should be replaced. I wanted them to change the chain and guides while they were a it, but they were only interested in changing the CCT assembly.
On fork seals:
I've wondered about my front forks. They could certainly do with a look. I've had a loud noise at the front of the bike for years when going over bumps and wondered what the cause was - now seems linked to the forks as I can get it make the noise rolling it up and down a small step. The noise seems to be the disc, because of the forks poor performance. Forks and disc look okay, though. How far do these things go on commuter abuse, before they need a re-vamp?
-
The funny thing with the forks is that the innards are really crap straight from the start. One could go the distance with them but they truly deserve to be re-valved and re-sprung from day one to honestly know the way they can perform this side of the way they are from factory.
Following simply steps with basic tools outlined by SH member Coryonbusa ( How to internally lower your forks. Updated with better pics. 6/20/09 (http://www.suzukihayabusa.org/forum/index.php?topic=135724.0) ) you can pretty much do your own R&R to bring everything to a new light or you can contract a trusted professional to do the work if the task is outside of your skill levels as a mechanic.
Don't worry, sometimes, it's more comforting to pay and let someone else do the dirty work just to keep your time focused on what you do best if turning wrenches isn't your bag.
One option I recommend is  www.GPSuspension.com if nothing more than good heads to pass questions by. They also come highly recommended within the motorcycle industry. Check the testimonials.
-
I really should look at these things myself more often instead of asking franchised workshops who just do not give a sh*t.
Turns out the noise was from my left brake disc which was wobbling from side to side.
Thanks for the fork write up - I'll make sure it's upgraded instead of done to OEM specs when it comes to it.
-
Right, Blue,,, doing the fork upgrade is as majestic as mounting lighter wheels - a luxury, sure, but essential!
-
05 with 2000 the hard way bracket racing
-
i got a 07 busa 12 months 15591
-
12000 in 6months
I did 10,000 miles on my K71k in about 4 months. I vowed not to ride my 08 as much.
-
Currently summer here, so I plan to slowly revamp the busa from front to back before replacing the cam chain in the winter. On roughly 92,000 miles.
Replaced front disc - although performing okay, left hand one was damaged causing a lot of noise while riding .
Forks look and perform okay will at least change oil (possibly upgrade) in winter.
Changed plugs - old ones looked good to the naked eye after about 12,000 miles.
Cleaned re-olied BMC air filter - damaged, need new one in winter.
Valves checked and throttle bodies already balanced by the shop.
Changed clutch after all of those 92,000 miles - look okay to the naked eye, but can't be as I can feel them deteriorating on a ride. Noticed that when I upgraded it from 2000 to 2002 spec, (about 18,000 miles ago) I changed the wrong end so the new plate and 2 springs where furthest away from the engine instead of first up. Hopefully, will notice a better ride.
Next up, inspect rear shock, rear caliper and change pads. That should be enough until winter, then 1 more summer before considering a rebuild or replacement engine at about 136,000 miles. Any other suggestions?
-
10,000 on my mint 06. Just been to busy to get out much yata yata yata...
-
13,000 on my '08. Would be more but these nebraska winters keep the streets covered in snow and gravel.
-
Put 36K on my '06, have 9.1K on the '08. I've got some riding to do.
-
95k on my 99 copper stage 1 rcc turbo 7.5 of boost the last 28k are turbo miles, it has the second cam chain, chain was replaced at about 59k but really didnt need it, it still has the original rear sprocket, original clutch, original cush drive, waterpump fork seals, do i need to go on
-
I have 6200 miles on my 08 and just love the bike. Wish the weather was better up here in northern Wisconsin.

I would have gotten more miles on this winter if I had those tires.
-
Not worth mentioning but i have 9500 on my 04 le bought used with 500 on it.

-
I might be the winner for most miles in the shortest amount of time. I've only got 5 months time on my 06 and put over 8,000 on her. Does anyone beat that?
36K on my '06 the first 18 months.
-
Put 36K on my '06, have 9.1K on the '08. I've got some riding to do.
Passing 13K on the '08

I talked to a tech at Aurora Suzuki in Seattle, he said he has maintained a Busa that now has over 200k on it. He sais he's rebuilt it 3 times and changed every bearing in the bike numerous times.
-
that means he rebuilt it about every 65k, i find that very hard to believe that it had to be rebuilt that many times at that low of milage, mine has 106k turbo miles without any rebuild

-
I'm at the dealership often. Next time I'm there I'll get the guys name and try to get him to post up here. I have no reason to believe it's a fish story. The tech said he uses the bike as part of his job and travels multi-state (you'd have to to rack up that kind of mileage). Some people get rebuilds because they feel. Like it's time. I tore mine down at 50 k and it was pristine. However, ask around and the general opinion would be that 50k is a lot.

I've seen a few in the 70,000's. Now that's a lotta riding!
wow, thats alot
-
Only 15k on my '05.
-
I just past 60k. Only issue is my starter is starting to go. Not bad for an '01.
-
32,000k on mine
-
hahaa any bike over 100k suzuki should buy it back
seriously those are some crazy numbers, 200km
-
current
06 busa 9k turbo'd at 2k
07 busa 2400 1/4 mile at a time
09 drz 300 hey just got it and its been raining ALOT
sold
03 gsxr 7 1/2 had 52k turbo'd at 15k when sold in 2006 to get busa
03 tl1000r had 40k in 2010 when it sold
Buddy has a 00 busa 1327 from 3rd coast speed built at 12k and he just hit 65k on a big bore!!!
Bikes are great only repair to busa was a twisted output shaft and a few broke chains,
750 only had a tstat in all those miles, an a few batteries but nothing major!!!
-
Mine just turned 120,000
Bike had 43K when I bought it. The speedo and tach were busted in the price reducing wreck and I picked up a used one here in town that had less than 1K on it. Has 80+K on this one

They would have my last 5 bikes then!
Suzuki hates people like me and they have said so. They want someone who is going to scrap the bikes at 20K and buy new ones. We find all the holes in the bikes and usually let people know about them.
-
I just looked back on this thread and I posted that I had 38K in 2009. Now I have over 68000 miles.
-
Just curious, for the folks who have 50,000 and more miles. Is your bike the primary way of getting around, or is that all joy riding? Not saying you don't have another way to get around. Just choose the bike.
BTW I'm jealous :D

My Busa is my only set of wheels. Rain or shine its going down the road.

107k of joy riding with turbo

Mostly joy riding. I very seldom take it to work.

I'm starting the season with 33,609 on the clock. My goal is at least 5k for the summer, 8k will be a good season.

OK, I saw a pic of this guys odometer, 156k! He just gave it to his kid, who's riding the wheels off of it. These bikes are fricken tough as nails. :thumb:

Uh, no actually. I bought the bike in December 2010, a silver gray 09...........it was a new/left over in a shop in Charlottesville and they were kind enough to deliver it to my front door in an enclosed trailer for a few extra bucks. Nice folks. They even sent me the new rectifier to replace the recalled one. Paid 10,400 for the bike. I thought that was a fair deal. I do not ride as much as I used to............most of you guys put more miles on your stuff in two months than I do in a year. I guess, in my case, it is a combination of age and some physical limitations with my back. I had surgery last November...........degenerative disc thing. It is what it is.
-
Just busted 20K miles 5-25-2011 as I returned home from carving corners on the Dragon with some friends. Went to bike week in Myrtle Beach after that. So it's looking like 21K miles soon :hys:
'08, bought in June of '08. Boy do I need to ride more. :hys:

Joy, not there yet, but even when I ride the bike to run errands it's a joy brother.

I bought my son a naked '07 Suzuki SV650 for Christmas and he attends UTC in Chattanooga full time. He is a junior. He rides the Dragon and tells me that it is the most incredible road for a bike that you can imagine. He even sent me some pics that were taken of him while riding out there. Apparently they have photographers that are all over that road......they post as Killboy.com. Lots of knee-draggin' goes on there............I just bought him a new rear tire........Michelin Pilot 2. He likes it. Apparently The Dragon Rules. :thumb:

You got that right bud, (the Dragon rules) I make it up there at least once a month, sometimes more depends on who wants to go, its only about 30 -45 mins from work, and about a hour from home, never had no trouble but law or no law, be carefull you don't want any pieces left on the tree of shame, and I also found out, painfuly, that old farts do not heal as well as they used to
-
Well, Rocketgeezer, all I can say is that The Dragon sounds like the most challenging public road in this corner of the country. And yes, Dylan did tell me about the "Tree Of Shame". I just continually pray that his sense of survival will overcome his desire to "push the envelope". I raised him on dirters for 7 years before he ever got his permit. :tu:

All I want to do is let you know when you do run that road, DO NOT assume anything some of those switchbacks will wreak you in a heartbeat, and you don't have to be going that fast, I have seen dudes crash at 30 MPH, and when you crash you crash bad, if you bahave yourself and respect the road you can have fun, 3 people so far this year have died, all from out of the area, never been on the road before, I realized some time ago that the first few times your really just learning the road and defiantly should not be pushing it, I would say after at least 4 or 5 runs you will start to honestly enjoy the ride, until then, if you say that you didn't scare yourself, your ether foolish brave or lieing.........when you do get up there be careful and have fun.........and before you head this way, get in touch.........Dave
-
:tu: Thanks, pal. My son is out there riding it today. (Chattanooga is not that far from The Dragon.) He will be an "expert" before I ever get the chance to turn a wheel on that road. That little 650 of his will likely run rings around my Busa. His bike only weighs 400 lbs.
-
I just broke 1000................bike is starting to come together............feels good. :tu:

Speaking of miles................hiow long should the stocker chain last? Assuming no burnouts or power shifts and regular lubrication. On my 01, I had to immediately replace the chain with a DID because it began to stretch. This new GEN II chain seems to be of better quality.
-
I guess it would depend on how hard you ride. Accelerating and engine braking. Maybe weight too. Maybe 10 - 15 thousand miles. Let's see who agrees.
BTW, I'm at 35,800 now
-
35K is outstanding!!

Thats some good miles Eddie, and you are 100% correct. your chain life is directly linked to how the bike is ridden, 10 to 15K i would be about average, but one old dude that used to come to our local bike night, had 40+K on a 02 Busa with original chain :?
-
That is friggin amazing!! I will be happy with 15-20K. :thumb: :tu:
-
35,800 on bike. On my third chain and second set of sprockets now. It's time for new chain and sprockets too. A few years back, when I was young and dumb. The guy at the local bike shop told me it was a waste of money to by those expensive chains. So he sold me a standard (p.o.s.) chain for $50 bucks for my busa. Lasted two weeks. That's how I learned about chains :)
-
I seem to recall having pretty good results on Turbusa with a D.I.D. chain, but there was another brand, it does not come to mind right now, that was as good if not better than the D.I.D. I did not run a clip on the master link...........I ground and stamped a full link for the master. I never wanted to take a a chance on that clip comin' off. I see now that the Gen II has a similar set up.

I'll be adding around 3,000 more to the 37,000 now after I get back from my Montana trip on the 14th. Should read 40+ in one more week :bike:

Never had until just before this trip. I checked and it was between a quarter to a third quart low, just low in the sight glass. I attribute this to having a few dyno runs up to the limiter in 5th gear. I seldom run it up past 180 on the street... I almost forgot, my ending mileage was 40,367 and my trip average for the whole 3,227 mile trip was 40.1 mpg! The first day from San Jose CA to The Dalles OR was 682 miles and I averaged just over 70 mph. My mpg wasn't very high that day for sure. :)

this is crazy to me. Have you ever re ringed it or anything? And its boosted, craziness. I wouldnt buy a bike with more than 10K miles on it prior to me being the owner. How many miles have you put on it personally? crazy high miles

i use to have a ghetto kit on it and at 59k i detoneted so i had to replace 2 pistons, while i had it apart i reringed it, but it really didnt need it at that time, and i put all the miles on it, the compression is still well within specs, it now has an rcc kit, i had nothing but problems with the ghetto kit
-
All you have to do is ask yourself who built the ghetto kit? :td:
-
Well I now have a 2007 with 0 miles. So I have to start over again. It had around 28k on it, until the odometer reset.
-
I bet I havent rode 10K miles on the street in my life. I bet nowhere near 10K actually

who built it, plus there was no support behind it when you had problems

no problem in traffic, i installed a second fan with a toggle switch plus i put a toggle switch on the stock fan, so i can kick them both on in traffic.
i change the oil every 2k with napa 15/50 full synthetic
shit i put 150 miles on it today with a tempuature of 98 degrees and the heat index was about 110
-
..."i change the oil every 2k with napa 15/50 full synthetic"
Well that's a waste of good oil and money. :o Hell, even dino oil lasts that long or longer.

Weather its a waste of money or not is a matter of opinion, how often a dude wants to change his oil is up to him, I have road bikes for almost 50 years, if you count the mini bikes and scooters, that makes 25 bikes, and I don't think my oil has ever went 2000 miles on a change, with any oil, I personaly don't go in for that 5, 6, 7, thousand mile oil changes, but I won't fault those who do, its there bike, theres no way in hell you can tell me that oil is still doing its job when its got 6 or 7K miles on it,and I don't care if its so called full synthetic or $1.50 a qt Wally World special, what I mean is how do you know what oil is in the jug other than whats on the label, other than it feels like oil,...........you know that gasoline all comes out of the same cross country pipe, no matter who's pump it comes out of

38,200 miles now. Only 400 to meet my personal goal for this season. Summer is over. Wish I could ride year round.
-
Wow,
It's good to know that properly cared for these bikes last a long time.
But now for the more important question: Who has the most miles on their bike while driving over a C Note (100)?
Just kidding - sort of
Jack

Spoke with one of the guys who works at the local Suzuki shop. He has a '99 Busa with over 150,000 miles and its still going strong with the original engine.
-
My first Busa (99 model) had 120,000kms (gone now)
My second has 4000miles (it's a track bike only)
My current (99 model) has 110,000kms and going strong...

i know a guy that put about 100,000 on his before he tore it down and freshened it up....still running and has all stock parts

Good stuff, TT! Change that old clutch out man. Easy peezy.
My five year old could do it. And I don't even have a five year old.

When I get franken busa ready I hope to take it to 100k, if I don't replace it with a gen 2
-
Only 45k on the 04. Just put 100mi on this morning. Orig. clutch and motor part's. Only motor work done was 5 or 6 gear's and shift fork's in the tran's when I got it with 8k on it. The old owner must have been an abuser. Other work was a radiator ( due to a rock stuck in the fan) and I just put a fuel pump in it. It run's like new.

TT, just curious, have you had to go back in the motor for any maintains since installing the turbo? Has just been oil changes and go?

Thanks.

MY 01 has a little over 17000
-
In four winter months...10,000.
-
I'm starting the season at 43,163. My goal is to put another 5k on. I would love to see 50K on the odometer. I may even do an "IronButt" this year.
-
I Have about 89,000 on my 01. I've been living off of it since 2008 when the economy took a shit and I had to get rid of my work truck. Couldn't afford the gas and my regular construction work pissed out so I took a crappy desk job. Typically I commute 500 miles a week from Orange County to downtown LA everyday.
Just spent 2 grand on a top end rebuild and new fork springs and seals to hopefully get a few more years out of it.

Well, I'm glad I stumbled across this thread because someone I know is selling their '05 Hayabusa which has over 54k miles on it for $5400 and I was interested in buying it but though the milage was far too high for a bike like this but after reading so many of you who have bikes with just as much milage or more helps ease my mind some. :ab:
-
Just bought my 99 Busa yesterday, glad to hear they are getting used to there full potential with large mileage, like a lot of you guys with other bikes, also have a Fireblade and a cagiva elefant that have to share my affection ! Mine currently has 18.000 miles ( low for the age i think ) will try and do some winter mileage but will ride one of the others if the roads are shitty. Excited with my new bike and its parked in the house as the garage is full. hope to be a positive member of the forum and help where i can. May take me a few months to be of any use with any tech stuff. Cheers

finally made 50k. Don't have as much time as I use too. Back in the day, I would have rode 1000 miles in a month.

Speaking of mileage my speedometer stopped reading miles and my speed gauge stopped working. All my other gauges are working... Can someone tell me what the cause of that might be? I bought my busa that way.

There's a free Suzuki magazine at the dealership where a guy with a 08 hayabusa has a little over 209k miles, they called him to the California hq and gave him a plaque !

Sure whats a showroom condition 99 with 865 miles worth (yes it runs great) , this is 100 percent original, EXCEPT for the POS fuel lines from the tank to the pump (the return line kinked). Everything else is as it was from the suzuki dealer, even still smells like a showroom new bike when started. with manuals, tools, centerstand, lower spoiler, hump and factory tank bra.
