Has anyone fitted a 10" slick to a standard frame?
Thinking with custom swingarm braced to the frame, strut, and either offset sprocket or jack shaft and gearbox output shaft support.
And barred.
Wondering how it might go down the strip?
-
Why?

A 7" is about all the bike will hold...

Why?
Why not?
Check out this guys site. The chassis setup he made, says it will house up to a 14 inch tire.

No need to for one and Has anyone fitted a 10" slick to a standard frame?
this was the question for two.

Engrish?
I get tired of seeing the same old boring, copycat setups. I'm going out on a limb on my new chassis setup, that I don't think anyone is running. May work, may not....building and testing is the fun part for me. Some people are happy with a stock bike to each his own. :thumb:

I would love to see an old school 10 incher in the street with a busa frt. half would be cool

cstraubs1 thanks for the link.
As for the why I'm looking at building a chromolly arm and thought why not a 10" more grip than a 7".
Not for any class of racing just soething different to build.
-
Also might want to talk to Terry McIntosh..... that who just did my setup. Turned out very nice... :thumb:

Lets see some pics Bobby.

I'm using the rigid backhalf with bars & a 7 inch slick,with a gt35r for propulsion... Basically,its Terry McIntosh's Factory Extreme setup/design.Cut seat rails,prostreet tank & tail.

On the Northwest tracks a 7" slick won't hold over 330 hp on nitrous. I hold the west coast nitrous prostreet/outlaw record 7.80 @ 180mph spinning the tire hard when I try to put more power down. I am in the process of back halfing my chassis now. 10" prostock tire.

Cool outlaw busa :thumb:  :thumb:

:thumb:Nice work.
Are you running the chian on the outside of the frame or can it still be run on the inside?

It will have a 2 1/2" off set sprocket with outboard bearing support outside of the frame. I'm setting it up so I can unbolt the whole back half and put the swingarm and 7" slick and suspension back on in 1-2 hours. I plan to run it no bar to see what it will run with the added traction. Then I will install the bars and turn it up and hang on :)
-
R/T thats badass!!! Thats what I'm talking about, thinking "outside the box"... :thumb: :thumb:

You would have to run a jackshaft like the showbike widetire kits,to run the chain on the inside of the frame.

Looking good Bobby....Speaking of "outside the box", I know a guy who widened a stock rear wheel and ran a drag radial for cars a few years ago....
-
Update on backhalf. All tubing installed and welded, bottle brackets fabed and welded. Next I will machine front sprocket and outboard bearing support. Then rear sprocket spacer , peg mounts , shifter and rear brake set up. And build the wheelie bar for later :D

R/T are you running a slider,or are you integrating a slave cylinder into your bearing support?
-
I run the MTC gen 2 multi stage. The slave cylinder will on the bearing support. I will post more pictures as I make progress.
-
Keep me posted....I am looking for one that uses a slave cylinder myself.

Here's a few more pieces to the puzzle. Latest parts I fabricated, air shifter bracket and shift arm , all of the bearing support parts except the 2 parts from the billet sprocket cover I already had. I decided to convert to a cable clutch. The mechanism is kaw kz.

That output shaft won't be going anywhere now, nice!!
I assume by the pics you are staying with the 530 chain?
-
Yes, 530 chain has as much tensile strength as 630 and a lot less weight and resistance.

Very nice work R/T :thumb: :thumb:

Thanks, I have almost as much fun building bikes as I do racing them :D

Bike is ready for track testing this weekend :D Heres some pictures of the finished project

We went to track for 1st test session yesterday. Air temp was low 50's ,track temp at the line was only 63. Had 2 rain delay's .Not much track prep, was good to the 330' ,not so good past that. It would start spinning the 10" from 330' on. Riding a spinning 10" is alot more work than a 7" slick. It wants to shake side to side. We also had a strong head/cross wind that would push me from the right lane to the left at the traps. We have our 1st NWDB race 5/3/09 hope for better conditions then. I want to say thanks again to Kerry Drost AKA Buzzard, for all his tuning help and hard work :thumb:
Best NA pass 220 hp

With good traction at 320 hp it should run 145-150 at the 1/8th and 175-180 at the 1/4.

Good job :woot:

SWEET looking bike, good job! :thumb:
