Title: "Spare Parts" race bike
Post by: Blue Streak on August 12, 2009, 12:29:52 AM
Here is a little project that I'm working on, its being built almost entirely of spare parts I either had or got from local friends cheap. I started with nothing but a bare frame and this is how it sits today, still waiting on alot of parts to come in and waiting for the head to come back. Right now its going to be a very low stock wheelbase nitrous bike and this winter its getting a 1441 and a full grudge chassis (tank sitting on it now is the grudge tank, stock one will be on it till we cut the seat rails). It has 04 1000 forks, tripple clamps, and wheels. It also currently has Brembo full floating rotors on the front and a Braking rear wave rotor, I'm going to run these on this till I get my turbo bike back and can swap them over. Its going to have a Murray sidewinder and billet oil pan even stock wheelbase to get the bike low as possible. It should be making passes by the end of the month and we are guessing it will be a 5.50-5.70's bike stock wheelbase.  :thumb:

OK the head is back and the motor is together and in the bike  :thumb: . Trimmed the fairing tonight even with the billet pan and trimmed it for the Murray. Tomarrow the painter is coming to pick them up to match them to my nose and the tank (tank not pictured). Going to button everything up tomarrow and fill it with fluids and see if this beast will start up.  8)

Sorry guys I had all intensions of taking and posting pics last night but I got home and found out my custom McIntosh air shifter bottle was leaking around every single weld threw pin holes in the weld  :?. So I had to take the tail section back off and take the bottle off to have it rewelded. It should be back together tomarrow and I'll post pics as soon as its buttoned back up.

There's always something little that comes up...especially when you get closer to the finish of your build

Yes its got a 60 shot of dry on it. I'm running a spray bar setup and a PNC-3000 progressive nitrous box.  :thumb:

bike should be good for some low 9's if you can hold it down.

My old 02 stock motored (no nitrous) stock wheelbase busa went 9.20's with a Brock street pipe so it was no where near as low as this one. I'm pretty confident it will run 8.60's -8.70's.  :thumb:

Guess I should update this

Took the bike to the track to make a shakedown pass on motor and then I was going to spray it but ended up having a serious clutch issue. I got that figured out but it was to late to hit the track again before they closed for the winter. It will be back out in the beginning of March to get the nitrous controller set right and then we will see what its got.

Got the bike off the dyno tonight and it made 242hp on 80% of a 60 shot (4- #20 jets in a spray bar) :bah: Testing this weekend if it doesn't rain, it should be a handfull to ride.  :hys:

If we can put all the power down reasonably fast it might just run faster then the 8.60's that I thought it would.

 Tested a little tonight on a slick track but the bike is straight MOVING. I don't want to post the numbers since we are going to grudge race the bike but I do not see anything on the planet with a stock arm running with it.

We will be calling out all stock armed bikes this weekend at the Rockingham race if the bike runs down there like it is here.  :thumb:

:hys: Damn this thing is hard to ride on a good track. The bike had wheel spin at the local track causing it not to wheelie and now I have been running it at good tracks its like a bucking bull. The bike runs over 130mph in the 1/8 with the nitrous turned way back to keep it from standing straight up. Still have alot of setup to do on the nitrous controller.
