Title: Bike starting hard...
Post by: Ghost on April 25, 2010, 09:14:30 AM
If my bike is starting hard but keeping a charge should I look at the starter first?

When i try to start the bike it either turns over alot before catching and starting OR it turns over then stops suddinly then turns some stops then turns over again then starts. Battery is new last summer and seems to always have a charge.

12000 miles and only thing I have done is plugs, air filter and battery. Stator and everything else original.

Where should I start?

Sam

FYI -
Hopefully your bike is an 03 or newer with the later starting system. The 02 and earlier starter system can occasionally fail when the battery is low and take out the starter and the cases.

It's normally easiest to start with the simple things. Have you actually measured your battery?
