Title: Easy way to install new chain?
Post by: ATC'er on January 18, 2011, 11:21:32 AM
I'm looking to install a new chain (first time) and was wondering, would it work if I cut the old chain, attach the end of the new chain to the end of the old chain (zip tie, or something similar) and then pull the old chain until the new chain is installed up and over the front sprocket? I'm looking to avoid removing the fairing and other parts.

If you can't get it to guide thru just line the chain on the rear sprocket and pull it forward to the top of the front and feed it thru reach under and pull it back out to the low side...

Unless the sprockets are fairly new, I'd go with a set / chain and front and rear sprocket. Wear is an issue.
