The engine has a LOT more HP in it. The GT42X turbo that Garrett created is a big part of that performance. As some know the engine has no cooling system. :id: It uses billet barrels and a dry head, coated for thermal dispersion. An idea also used in the 300mph roadster at Bonneville. Bike only runs for 25 seconds. 300+ is the twilight zone, everything has to be right. Bill was traveling 457.5'/sec. when the front fender broke from the wind. The Conti tire is running at twice it's speed rating. Bill said the bike handled quite well with just a bit of lightness in the front. (5# will probably fix that). The wind tunnel time was $$ well spent. What's next? Only the King knows. LSL

Great Team effort Larry, no sense in running it anymore today. Next challenge 300 in the Mile!

Excellent accomplishment :thumb:
After seeing that you changed the fps number Larry, I checked the math....the 457.5 is correct.....WOW that is a mile every 11.5 seconds! For those that dragrace, that's a 2.88 second 1/4! .72G's AVERAGE over the entire 1.5 miles.
-
WOW 311.945! Thats haulin the mail and then some! Congrats!

Congratulations!!!! What a fantastic accomplishment! I could not be happier for Bill, Larry, Walt, and everyone else involved (I’m sure I missed a bunch of people).
Bill, you deserve it buddy. I know you work your tail off on this stuff. Nobody in the sport works harder or puts in more hours than you do. It shows in your success.
I’m glad my dad and I were there to see it in person. It’s not every day you get to see history happen right in front of you.
Ryan
-
Congrats Bill,
I really appreciate the thanks. But no one worked as hard as you. It has been a lot of work, but along with the frustrations, it's been a lot of laughs and fun along the way.
PS: Charlie-dog is awesome! I almost took as many pics of him as I did of Bill and the bike!
Jody: Nice ____!

Congratulations Bill. Absolutely incredible achievement to build a bike capable of those speeds both mechanically and aerodynamically. Last but not least, the skills and bravery to pilot that machine to 311+ MPH is in itself remarkable.

That number sets the bar......................................probably for a loooooooooooooooong time. I Cannot conceive what that would be like. Mr. Warner, from now until forever, YOU ARE THE MAN!! CONGRATULATIONS!

I still think the 11.946 mph push that I gave him at the line is what propelled him over the 300 mark..... LOL :tu: Jody
