Title: fuel pump
Post by: California Kid on November 04, 2011, 03:33:44 PM

What kind of fuel pump, regulator do I need to use , I have a gen 2 busa I am doing some head work , pistons and a 60 shot . The gen 2 have secondary injector when using the ECU Editor you  can adjust the secondary injectors . I will be around 185 - 190 on motor and on nitrous 245 - 250 (60 shot) . I have been using a 40 shot with no problems  . If I need to change the fuel pump and add a regulator what brand should I use .

Pics seem to be gone, But here is the pump you will likely want, especially since you will likely go higher on the spray once you get it worked out.

While it may run with the stock pump at that level, when land speed racing, it is probably in your best interest to err on the safe side.

yeah for the couple hundred tops on a new pump not worth risking a stocker at or above the marginal line imo.  injectors should be plenty fine with 50/50 split.

If I am not mistaken, most use the oem in-tank regulator with that bosch pump.

I use an aeromotive regulator on my turbo bike.

I am useing the bosch intank pump.  Stock regulator.  Useing ecu editor.  runing u4.4 fuel.  1441, ported head, 395/378 cams and a 100hp shot.  a/f is perfect.
I would get the bosch pump for more then a 40-50hp shot on a stock engine.  i have heard from several that a/f and hp was fine for a dyno pull.  Then run it down the 1/4 and a/f would lean out.  put a biger pump in and a/f was fine and pick up mph.  Things get even worse for land speed racing.  get the bosch pump.

Are you using stock valves or are they stainless steel valves?

do you feel the u4.4 has enough octane for a 100shot? i would feel safer with it making a little less power with a non oxegenated higher octane fuel. you never said how much timing your pulling so that makes a huge difference also...

mrxo1 is 98 mon and I hear of guys runing a 60-80hp shot with it.  u4.4 is 103mon.  I think it is ok for a 100hp shot.  I wouldn't run any more then that. If I put more then a 100hp shot in it I will use q16.  I run motor only most of the time and just run the nitrous once in awhile. i will hit it once in awhile e.t. racing.  make a few passes a day once in awhile on the nitrous. if the track prep is good once in awhile I will e.t. race it all day on the nitrous.
60% nitrous in second pulling 2 degrees of timing.  100% 3rd and -4 degrees.  100% and -6 degrees 4th-6th gear.
I have ben runing it half of two years ago on 80hp shot.  Most of this last year on the 100hp shot.  first few months of this last year on 80hp.
