Title: STANDING 1.5 MILE, OVER 200 LIST
Post by: Got-Busa? on June 29, 2012, 12:37:41 AM
STANDING MILE AND A HALF OVER 200 LIST

The purpose of this list is twofold:
         1.  To recognize the 200+ riders for having the passion/obsession & stamina to achieve 200mph on asphalt.
         2.  To energize those people to go even faster by making it easy to see how close competition is.

This is just a rough draft from the records I've kept the last couple years.  Lots of updates whenever someone has time to add/change.

If you show something else, please feel free to correct... ;)

Also, would you prefer ONLY one max speed per person on the list like MOJAVE or class records in addition to outright riders top speed like LORING above??

Personally I would like to see all of it but it's a LOT of info to keep up with and keep updated.

This list is for EVERYONE so advise what majority wants added/changed/delete/etc..etc....  :thumb:

What distance does Elvington and Woodbridge run?  I couldn't remember if they were 1.4 or 1.5 or what, anyone?

Again, this is a great idea.

It might be nice to see:

1) Not just the records, but the individuals that are over 200 MPH.

2) Results from Elvington, Woodbridge, Pendine and Finland and Russia.

3) El Mirage (1.3 miles), records and individuals
4) The individuals at Loring.

Josh, great idea and job. You are the only one that can add people to the list, at this time. I do think Danny Creedon should have his 239.5 listed at Mojave. He ran the speed but was not teched for that fast. SOOO This is not about records it is about certified speeds.

HMMMMMM...
As much as i think Danny is a good guy, I disagree.
I understand that the speed wasn't certified by Mojave bc he was in violation.
Or is there something i am missing?

Whatever you guys decide, I'll add it.  Also, depending how the forum is setup any moderator should be able to update the list as well... ;)

All I need is the DATA for the other events and I'd be glad to add them.  I also don't have the full results from Loring for everyone that ran over 200mph.  If you have them, PM or email them to me and I'll get the put up.  If you should be on the list and aren't you could also just reply and I'll add it... :thumb:

Also, do you want them displayed in order of speeds(record in parentheses)  or keep the records/classes separate with the 200+ below?  What would the majority like??

Perhaps Fred's question will begin a careful discussion
of what "Over 200 MPH" means.....

In some sort of order the questions might involve:

1) Is it a RECORD, certified by some sanctioning body,
Like AMA, Loring, ECTA, etc ?

2) Was it NOT a record, but a "certified" correct speed,
by a sanctioning body ?

3)  If the sanctioning body said "we ain't going to certify
your time, 'cause you broke a rule, is that still "Over 200 MPH ?"

4)  Proper evidence of speeds recorded on GPS - certified or not ?

this has the potential of getting way too complicated, you guys sort it out.

IMO you only need a ticket from a sanctioned event with yr speed.
Danny should not have been given a ticket if he was.
A great guy, yes indeed, but the Mojave event does not recognize his 239.5, so why should our list show it?

as far a GPS speeds.....  :hys:  I am sure that was tongue in cheek

ahem...
YOUR list.

Well, he did the speed.  These "lists" don't have "rules,"
they are just for folks that go over 200 MPH.

If somebody goes 237 MPH at Mojave, and they
spank him for a bald tire, fine.

But he did the 237 MPH,
so he goes on the list.

That of course begs the question:

If they show him a slip for 237 MPH,
that means he had an "official time"
for 237 MPH.  If they refuse to give him
the slip 'cause he broke a rule,
what does "the list" do ?

I'm asking, 'cause he did the 237,
but he has no "proof......."

You are of course right Karl.

You are the 1.0 mile guy, and Josh is the 0.5 and 1.5 guy.

Maybe somebody (like Steve Knecum) will do the 1/4 mile guys.

Somebody could do the Bonneville guys.

The points being that:

1) maybe there should be a common set of rules for
all "lists." so people don't get left out, or improperly included.

2) The "rules" should be stated ahead of time, so
there is less confusion.

3) People don't feel "hurt," because they were not included......

If they show him a slip for 237 MPH,
that means he had an "official time"
for 237 MPH. If they refuse to give him
the slip 'cause he broke a rule,

what does "the list" do ?

IMO VERY simple, he doesn't get credit for 237.5; its as if it was a GPS speed.

entropy over and out on this subject. :bike:

Lets not make this more difficult than it needs to be.  To keep from the threads getting all muddy, start another thread if you want to split hairs...

Post the speeds and they'll be updated, I'll go back and identify the record runs and outright speeds...

I agree it is not a reconized speed by the Mojave people. But for me its all a personal goals. My bike was teched to 250 but I was only teched to 230. They did give me the time slip for 239 and no one from Mojave ever told me it was not counted. I was told by Doug Seims over some beers on sat night. Not a big deal to me(unless someone wants to through around some sponsor $)lol
Im not trying to cry or stir the pot.... It is just very satifiying to work hard on your project in the garage at night and get some great results.

Back protector is on order. Now I just need to loose 15 pounds to get it to fit under the leathers.

I was just looking over the run log for the July 2011 Loring event, I couldn't find my timeslips but I knew I broke 200 a couple times.

I didn't set a record but did run 201.85 on my best pass. Do I make the over 200 list above or is it only if I set a record?

Thanks,

Again, I "vote" him in.

He did the time, on an official track,
with an "official" time slip, with an
"inspected" bike.
OK, he "broke out."

He still did the "Speed."

I agree with Bill on the back protector !

You don't need it until you need it !

Bill, Billy and Karl can speak to that.

Probably better to be a little uncomfortable,
and wear the protection while you lose weight.

My personal experience is that, if you are overweight,
and you do wear the back protector, than you will
"fill out" the leathers better, and the lack of "wrinkles"
will give you better aero.

Proved it at Bonneville last year !

Frank Gillebaard, Turbo Hayabusa,
Elvington, England, 2006 = 265.400 MPH
IIRC, he was the first over 265 MPH.

Track described as 1.3 or 1.4 miles...........

My vote, in general, is this: if you purposely, and knowingly circumvent the rules....your run does not count.

Whether if it safety gear, bike related, or whatever. Breaking the rules should not be rewarded. Most people call that "cheating". A lot of us suffer, or go to great lengths to follow the rules. I hate wearing my back protector when I am fat...so I got a thinner CE rated one. A big guy without a back protector has an advantage over the other big guy who wears one, aero-wise.

Haven't been to Loring in years.

Is there a problem with the track,
and that's why there was only
 six (6) records in 2012,
and NONE in 2013 ?

I see you are quite correct, Dean.

The post I copied was put um in 2012,
and updated 18 months later in 2014.

Just assumed it had been updated.............

The old website is quite informative.

A couple more additions for Mojave:
24   3046     Dave Consalvo    2000 Hayabusa    206.400   2015
56   3093     Erin Okonek        2008 Hayabusa    228.700   2015
74   3076     Gary DiMattio      2009 Hayabusa    219.200   2015

Also, I really like this format of the venue, then the speeds segmented into 10s. Easier to read. The 1.0 mile list should be like this too.

Post by: scott g on May 09, 2015, 03:00:48 PM
This is just a rough draft from the records I've kept the last couple years.
Lots of updates whenever someone has time to add/change.

If you show something else, please feel free to correct... ;)

Also, would you prefer ONLY one max speed per person
on the list like MOJAVE or class records in addition
to outright riders top speed like LORING above??

Personally I would like to see all of it but it's a
LOT of info to keep up with and keep updated.

This list is for EVERYONE so advise what majority
 wants added/changed/delete/etc..etc....  :thumb:

Since the OP leaves this "list" open to suggestions
from the crowd, here's a few of my own suggestions:

1)  The initial post, updated from time to time,
is not so much a list as an accumulation.

2) Use the "DEAN Format," so the
information is more easilly accessable.

3)  The ultimate highest speed is more important than the track.
Do the list as Dean does, with the fastest first, and the slowest last.

4)  Sure, include the name of the track,
but the name of the track is
FAR LESS inportant than the speed.

I think you will see that gap get smaller as i get a better feel for the bike. i ate up a ton of track babying that much power in the lower gears and im sure it hurt the mile speeds(maybe a little on the 1.5?). next event we will be on tire warmers and ill be able to accelerate much better. my runs in july were night and day with and without. went from blistering the tire to actually lifting the front a bit. gotta find the right balance point with lots more practise
12 is my fav number

BTW, this is an electric conversion.  As far as I know it's the first street-legal EV of any sort with stock bodywork to exceed 200 mph in the standing start 1.5 mile.

its a small kit i did most of for him. gt2871r turbo. drop in wossner pistons, ported head, stock cams, stock rods etc. he was running about 330 hp. no boost controller. we put the next size up spring in for me (350 hp) and i managed to get a 232.39 mile and 242.83 1.5. its a fun bike! that little turbo comes on quick. he can get 110 octane at his local gas station, so runs that in it. Im sure he will go mid 230s on it with a little more run time. hes barely had a chance to drive it since finishing it.

Impressive speed for what is basically a street bike. Very clean.   Thanks again to RDC Imagery.

Henry is a little grayer than the last time I saw him  :D

Max Biaggi, Roman Emperor and oft-thought rival to Valentino Rossi,
also of Italy, has established a electric 2-wheel speed record over 283mph
at the Space Shuttle landing strip at Cape Kennedy Space Center this week.

The info on the  283.182 mph Biaggi speed is
up on the FIM web site.

That would be good for 5th place on this list.

This officially makes Biaggi considerably FASTER
than Rossi on lists of official top speeds.

If this was done from a 1.5mile start,
this would jump Biaggi to 2nd on the list.
