Static Compression?

Typically, on a moderate compression piston, you would want somewhere around a 40 thousands quench area, which includes the thickness of the head gasket.

Putting the piston in the hole .040 would give you around .070 quench which would have you giving up a lot of HP on motor for no good reason. I would recommend you go with the advise above which will give you a better all around combo.  :tu:
