Dean thanks for doing this. :thumb: I think #8 sould be Pat Womack. When you get down to the lower speeds I ran 209.435 at Loring in 2012. NA 1350. I had to throw in the last!! :hys:

Yes, being on this list is a very worthy goal.
If you combine everybody that has been timed
over 200 MPH WITH a fairing; here, at Bonneville and in Europe,
there are maybe 500 people, total.
On the naked list, there might be how many, less than 100 ?
You see which is more difficult.
We found some years ago that a Hayabusa fairing
was good for about 14 MPH, at Hayabusa speeds.
So for comparisons, on Tom’s list, that would be the folks OVER 214 MPH.
So, everybody from #147 down WITH a fairing wouldn’t make the “naked” list.
All the more respect for Sliger on the Enfield,
Elrod on the Kawasaki (all motor)
and Jim Angerer on the Triumph.
All those bikes were twin engine, Altered-frame bikes.
With today’s aero rules, I don’t doubt they would
all be hitting 230 MPH………….
Scott
-
Dean: Great start on the list !
Did you get everybody from "the Last List ?"

AHH, dont like ti when the ECTA site is down!
here is what I found, but it looks like its just the speeds people had to get on the list. bill warner originally got on the list with a n/a vmax...wow.
1. Scott Guthrie 200.000 MPH 06/01
2. Todd Brooks 203.619 MPH 04/02
3. Todd Dross 202.433 MPH 05/02
4. Wayne Pollack 219.458 MPH 06/05
5. Walt Kudron 204.591 MPH 09/06

Well, now three (3) years later,
the over-200 list must include
maybe 350 people......
and yes, still probably
no more than 50 naked.

Anyone old-timers know the speed for Buddy Martinez?
Edit- found a reference, any corrections welcome.

Here's a recent one:
Blaine Spendlove
Suzuki GSXR1000 turbo, naked
4/11/15
Mojave Magnum standing 1.5 mile (Mojave airport)
208.9 MPH
results file: http://mojavemile.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12&Itemid=12

PS this was "just"a shakedown run on the bike! More to come, for sure, but most likely with bodywork.

Updated - we are now at 65.
Here's a plot of speeds - steep curve til about 225.
-
Dean: This is a great list !
1) There can't be that many names left yet.
2) Excellent research - especially to
identify all the "old guys."
3) Great format.
IIRC, VANCE BREESE went one-way
over the 200 mark many years agp.

Dean, thanks for adding me to the list. The bike is my normally aspirated, sort of stock looking bike with the 1634 motor that Steve built for me. The speed was actually 204.2669 which was right off the trailer, first pass ever naked. I could not improve on it over the weekend; only a couple of 202+ runs and a 203.7 run. Mike
-
Hey Dean, nice of you to do this! :tu: :tu:
If you can add me to the list.
I ran a 204.5 NAKED on Billy's (Fkawi Racing), turbo bike at Goliad in 2010. (only time I rode it...lol).
Thanks, Bob.

Does 1/4 Mile, street tire, no bar racing count? :-)

Hmmm.......
I guess ANY DISTANCE
includes 1/4 mile......
How is THAT
going to work out ?
-
TOM ELROD also went
over 200 on a "naked Harley"
in the late 1970's......
-
I thought Elrods was a Kawasaki?
-
I thought Elrods was a Kawasaki?
My memory - and I am pretty
confident on this - is that Tom
broke the 200 barrier with
a couple of 1,500cc Harley Ironhead Sportster
engines - front and rear in one naked frame.
Not reliable enough to get into "The Club."
He returned later with two (2) Kawasaki
"Z" motors in the same setup.......
Both pretty for pump gas, back in the day !
-
Is that "Godzuki"? I don't remember the name, but that bike was in Superbike Shootout before there were Hayabusas. BMF!
In my opinion, drag racing shouldn't be included in LSR lists. The track conditions are so different, the tuneup is so different, it just seems like apples and oranges.
BTW, we're now at 56.
Dean
-
Dean please add Brenda Sue Carver, 202.26, Bonneville 2012. Thanks Also I agree this is for LSR not drag racing. Just my 2 cents.
-
Incredible accomplishments. :tu: :tu: :bike:
(When I am naked, I am around 240 - :hys:) I know, bad joke. But, a little levity can be alright upon occasion.

"Godzuki" was a GS1150ES, blue and white, that Tom Miceli used to ride in Streetbike Shootout.
-
Just a suggestion, since I don't know who
is the ultimate consumer of this list......
As currently posted, "The List" is not
visible to those not "signed in."
That means that people who are
NOT MEMBERS cannot see the information.........
-
I take it that any bike can run "naked" if just the upper and lower fairings and tailpiece are removed.
I don't suppose there are any rules regarding gauges or battery boxes cooler cores etc.
-

Some classes don't require the tail piece to be removed...

Had a quick look around but did not see any full rules anywhere online but searching "naked" motorcycles was interesting
-

Dean's call on this, since it is his list.
Most racing organizations have rules for
what is "streamlined, Partially Streamlined,
and un-streamlined (naked)," and the
rules are all different.
A "naked" bike in the SCTA may NOT
be "naked" in the AMA or the FIM.
Likewise, magazines call bikes
"naked" that obviously are not.
The basic thing is that there is nothing in
front of the rider that directs air around
the rider or the motorcycle.
Behind the rider is
a little more unclear.
Again, Dean's call........
-
For this list;
1) If it made it through impound in an unfaired class, whatever sanction, it's clearly naked.
2) If you are running at a venue with no classes, and you remove all fairings ahead of the rider, with no other front streamlining, it's naked.
3) The SCTA/ECTA/LTA rules no longer allow anything non-OEM mounted ahead of the steering stem, but for this list, functional things (battery boxes, coolers, ECUs, etc) are allowed. But it should have a flat front, like Bill's 255 bike.
Fair enough?

A few pics I've collected.
The first, Don Sliger;
-
Fastest Bonneville SCTA record, Jason McVicar;
-
Fastest vintage bike - a 1955 Vincent, Dave Matson (hopefully will be at Speed Week this year);

Wow, look how young and slim Scott looks.!! :vl:
Young and slim........
I had hoped to never hear
those words so in the "past tense"......
The photo of Jason was almost certainly taken
in 2008, 'cause Dave O (3rd from left)
was with us......
-
A few pics I've collected.
The first, Don Sliger;
"Dapper Don," on perhaps his best day at Bonneville.
2 x 736cc Royal Enfield engines on a BIG load of nitromethane.
I've never been quite sure of how he hooked these engines together....
(Had connections on BOTH sides of the engines ?)

Fastest vintage bike - a 1955 Vincent, Dave Matson (hopefully will be at Speed Week this year);
Dave Matson.
Retired Ford engineer, and even older than I am - maybe
mid-late 70's years old, and still ready to
run 240 at Bonneville on a 1955 Vincent !
Notice how very compact the
bike is - nothing sticking out !
Fuel tank is the seat.
Fire extinguisher mounted.
LOW bars.....
-
First small batch of t-shirts coming-- 12 Xls. $25.00 plus shipping.
-
Put me down for a large if you get some made, and thanks for the effort Jim :tu:
-
If anyone has pics of Ted Gansberger on Jim Bickford's wicked Honda 750, please PM me, thanks.
Here's the fastest naked pushrod bike, ridden by Bob George.
That's the smile of someone on a bad bad motorcycle. :vl:
-
And the fastest normally aspirated naked bike, our very own Ryan Robertson :bike:
-
That was a phenomenal run that Ryan made!! :thumb:

Up to 66 now, Ken12r jumps to #13 with a 230.6 pass at Elvington :tu:

Please include big Steve Woods from the UK?
I know Steve and at 6 foot 7" tall its no mean feat !!! Think wind resistance? :bah:
At the previous event he made 199.8 mph with the rear tyre spinning all the way from 160mph.
His B.King I believe is 550 rwhp and its a street bike.
"Can i get added to the list.....
Steve Woods 209.5mph Suzuki B King Turbo Honnington UK 04/2010
cheers :tu:"
Steve if you're out there, please give us a shout? :D :thumb:

As well as Steve Woods in the mile above you also have jack Frost 243 mph over 1.3 miles at Woodbridge 2009 as had not noticed it was ANY distance.
Can I get a T shirt in XXl please

Hey guys
I've been lurking around for a while.
The Fireman officially gave me my " naked shirt" this year
Lake Gairdner A-G 1350. 205.632.
I only ran 1 mile-- need more upper body strength.
I brought the bike to Bonneville again this year, looking for a RED hat. Hopefully next year.
Bones
-
Congrats Bones :thumb:
What's your name, and what year did you make this pass? Was it on a Busa?
Dean
-
Hey Dean
Dave McLachlan. Sydney Australia
Hayabusa . Why mess with anything else for this class
I built the bike in 2013/14 and first ran at Gairdner in 2014 with a standard engine-- 184mph
Took it to Bonneville in '14 and ran 184 at BMST and WoS 191.
Built a good engine for this year and ran 205 at Gairdner.
The bike now has a pressureised air box and covers over the frame behind the engine
I found my name on the list- cool- can you add N/A ?

But yes on to the next chapter!

i notice on the original (page #1) list at Rank #10 John Levie @ 238.32mph for the flying mile on salt,, was this speed achieved with the sidecar or motorcycle ?
-
Almost forgot, you can update me to 224.=== at BMST on a 1650 Turbo Hayabusa 2016
-
Updated Jim.
Roo, I can't put my hand on the run list right now, but I'm 99.9% sure that was a naked turbo 2-wheeler, not a sidecar.
Dean
-
Updated Jim.

Dean
I would assume Dean is correct Jim.
Sidecars have only two body divisions,
Sidecar and Sidecar Streamliner.
No such think as a "naked sidecar,"
at least in LSR .......................
-
I seem to recall a photo of one of the Levie's sidecars being ran at Bonneville without bodywork, hence my initial question,,
Unfortunatly the archives on the SCTA site only contain history from 2000 thru to 2013,,
238mph on salt, over the measured mile, is stout for the rider of a naked motorcycle,,
I would be interested to see a photo of their naked two wheeler,,
-
NEW biggest number !
SHANE STUBBS posts 262mph
in the Texas Mile today
Details at eleven................
-
Thanks Scott but we're in Arkansas with the ECTA.
Long road that was!
-
Thanks Scott but we're in Arkansas with the ECTA.
Long road that was!
My mistake about the place,
but the record is good !
-
Congratulations to Tredway / Stubbs Racing and Shane Stubbs for smashing the naked record to 262.62 mph at the Arkansas ECTA meet in June 2019! Shane put 7+ mph on the previous naked speed of 255.1 held by the late Bill Warner since 2010.
One important feature that some folks may not notice is the flat-front box the team built around the water tank that sits in front of the steering head. When the fairing is mounted, this wedge-shaped tank tucks behind the nose of the front fairing. But when the fairing is off, this wedge shape would provide an aerodynamic advantage, directing air around the bike and rider. Knowing this, the team added this flat-front box to ensure that the naked record would be fair. This is honest sportsmanship, and demonstrates the degree of respect the team has for Warner’s prior record, and the history of land speed racing.
-
NOT much room for
"sponsorship placement." ........................
-
Ummmmm, What rules concerning a motorcycles aero class designation were used at this event ?
-
The ECTA rules are based on the SCTA. Here's the ECTA rules: https://www.ectamile.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/2018-Motorcycle-Rules.pdf
For Modified bikes:
7.F.11 Open Class:
1. No streamlining is permitted in the open motorcycle class. Streamlining is defined as any devices or objects forward of the rider that have the apparent effect of directing, limiting, or controlling airflow around the motorcycle or rider.
2. Seat or tail section must conform to partial streamlining rules.
3. Un-modified OEM air inlet scoops, OEM instruments, OEM instrument panels and/or OEM headlights mounted with un-modified OEM mounts in the OEM location are allowed in the Open class and meet the non-streaming rule.
Altered bikes:
7.G.10 Open Class:
This class is limited to purpose built “bare bones” race bikes stripped of all aero and street use parts. No streamlining is permitted in the Open Special Construction class. Streamlining is defined as any devices or objects forward of the rider that have the apparent effect of directing, limiting, or controlling airflow around the motorcycle or rider.
-
Thanks Dean, I am fully aware of this rueling, just asked to confirm that we are on the same page,,
I have ridden a naked bike a number of times at or just below 200mph "on salt",, when I say naked I mean "nothing" ahead of the rider except a small round Aerometer tacho, the wind pressure on my helmet and shoulder area was mighty strong,,
At our Gairdner event in 18 I had installed a replica Kawasaki Z1 round headlight, the bike ran an unofficial pass at 223mph, it was an armchair ride in regards to the wind pressure, felt like a mid 190,,
These devices ahead of the rider "Do" limit or control airflow around the rider or motorcycle,,
"I raise this subject in no way to detract from Shanes performance",,
I do call on the inturpation of this rueling,, we used to see a battery box or coolent tank or ecu etc perched up front there, now we add some tape,, I think youse can see where this is going,,
-
We bumped ours a touch in loring.
Thanks again dean!

Not sure the picture will post but I'll give it a shot...

We might want to add the Fastest Harley:
Hiro Kioso at Bonneville:230.538 in 2018.
-
Updated. I'm hoping the ECTA posts the run log from their recent meet.
Also, I spoke with Ted Gansberger, and will hopefully have some pics of his Honda 750 to post. Short story - DOHC CB750 turbo with one-off Hilborn alcohol injection system.

At a socially distanced meeting today at Elvington in blustery conditions Guy Martin ran 241.340 mph in the mile on his second run making him the fastest in Europe to date in the mile.
-
Thanks Ken. I don't doubt it, but just to be clear, he had no front fairing on the bike? All I could find online was a 247mph run with a pic with just the tailsection removed. cheers, Dean

There are plenty of pictures showing no plastics at all, that is an old photo that MCN used as they were not there on the day, I could not go but someone I know who watched it confirmed that the run was naked and considering the conditions on the day it was exceptional so I expect a 250 naked on a better day.

We are keeping our eyes on this one, waiting for more details.
MAX BIAGGI, the famous Roman Emperor and
winner of two World Superbike Titles, slammed
down a 231mph one-way speed
with an Voxan WATTMAN ELECTRIC motorcycle,
using no streamlining.
Biaggi used the 2.17-mile runway of
Marcel Dassault Airport in Châteauroux, France !
-
I'm not sure about the Biaggi record - the only pics I can find of the bike (without the full fairing) show a windscreen that wouldn't count for me.
Also, I rode Team Forstall's naked NA bike and went 221 in the mile and 224 in the 1.5 at Loring last week, bumping Ryan's record from Beeville. Since I'm on the list on SGR's turbo, this won't make the list. We really need a NA list stickied on this board.

at speed 8),, due to Covid and cancled raind out events had to requalify for my 200mph licence, that is make a pass between 190-210,,
the thing was accelerating hard, GPS shows that i was at 209 before the timed section, time slip tells that i had backed out of it to keep within the required speeds :D

Cool ....

Gotcha on there Ronnie, nice work :thumb:
