I ordered another one,now I have $190 invested in a damned chain breaker($100 for that last one and $90 for this one).

I just use my ziz-wheel and grind the heads off the rivet link and push the pins out with an ancient, cheap-as-all-get-out chain breaker. Works good. :tu:

I definitely grind the heads off the pins first, but still need to press on the new side plate and mushroom the master's pins.I've had good luck with the last Motion Pro so ordered another one of the same.

That's a nice unit. On my old breaker, you just hold it like a pair of spring-loaded pliers, center the punch over the pin and let the top and bottom jaws grab the sidelink and just squeeze. Works for me. Older than dirt. 40 years or so.
How often do you swap out your chain? I go for 10K or so.

I have around 7,500 miles(I think, may be less)on the EK ZVX2 chain and Vortex CAT5 sprocket and both still look like new but I'm a real stickler on chain maintenance and lube about every 250-300 miles.Bought the new 3D chain(150 link, along with the 47T CAT5 sprocket)and will have to pull some links out depending on how far back I can go with the Gen II tail(probably around 4").Takes a good amount of pressure to squeeze the side plate on the EK chains and the little Motion Pro unit works well(I got the PBR model, easy for challenged people like myself ).

I just mushroom my pins with a center punch and a hammer. Crude, but effective.

Ain't that kinda hard when the chain's on the bike?

No, just put the rivet link on the sproket and mushroom the pin. Your tools are the best way.
