Title: Pro-Street in Maryland Today
Post by: Ghost-Geezer on October 18, 2015, 02:54:44 PM
Rodney and Sportbikeryder are both racing there and Rodney's mom told me she thought Rodney did real well in qualifying.  I had forgotten they were up there this week end.  Wish I was there.  Dunno if it is MIR/MDIR or not, we used to frequent MIR when I was in my thirties and we were all Harley guys.....we spectated, no racing.  Our shit was slow, even my stroker shovel likely only made about 100 or so HP.  Sloooooooooooooow!!  That was in 1982-85 when we first built strokers.

If anyone has access to results, please post 'em up, please.

www.mir.com took me to a site called Maximum Impact Research.   www.mirdrag.com takes me/you to the drag strip site.  So far, no results yet, just the stuff from Oct. 9th thru the 11th are posted.  Stuff from the 16th thru 18th should be up at some point this week, I would think, maybe today or tomorrow.

We had a pretty good weekend. Performances from the group as a whole were a bit lack luster. Rodney did fairly well...6.81 in testing on Friday, but couldn't get better than a 7.teen for qualifying. Round 2 of f the main race (A Class), he raced Joey Gladstone and lost by a hair with a 6.87 to Joeys 6.86 (Joey also had him by a hundredth on the tree). Rodney raced on the complete outside groove where no man had gone before to make it down. Afterward, almost every racer in the lt lane went out where he went...
After the race, Rodney was happy with his performance, although he did wish he had left the power in the midrange that would have likely given him the win.

I had a cracked head and had to pull the motor and rebuild the top end Friday night / sat morning. Got it together and it made plenty of power, but my semi retired, no riding ass couldn't do better than 7.70's.

By the way Dave, the class we race is called "Prostreet"

6.81 is pretty fuggin' quick.  Musta had all the "planets/stars" lined up just in the right sequence.  Thanks for your input, pal.  Was that the quickest pass in "Pro-Street" (excuse my previous ignorance on classes) over the week-end?  That lost .01 at the light made a difference.  By the hair on a chin.  Sorry you busted a head.  Your bike scared me when I saw it.  It scared my bike as well.  It is still shivering from last Sunday at Rodney's with all that fast stuff crowding around it.  When does the season end for you guys?

Why did so many people get DQ'd in Real Street?

Just to give you where I got a bit of "personal and up close" with bike drag racing, when I worked for Danny Johnson 20 years ago he had a Top Fuel Suzuki drag bike.  Here is what he was turning then when I was on his pit crew.  That particular pass was his son Ronnie on the bike, Danny can be seen helping him stage.....Danny had the blond hair.  He is 6 years gone now.

Lots of power as well as being able to put it down to the track, combined with the ability to ride it.

Where and when is the last race, John?  I would assume the week-end of the 21st and 22nd, but that is just a guess on my part.  And, thanks again for posting my stuff...........I appreciate you and Rodney both putting up with my antics.  Never met guys like you two before.........and I have been around this stuff for many years in the past...........but not at all since Danny Johnson died.  Here is a pic of him with Frank Sinatra in the 70's when he was the King.
That is Danny in the center with his eyes on Mr. Sinatra.
