Title: Hey yezz old bastids..........
Post by: SLEEPERBUSA on May 03, 2017, 09:52:35 PM
Hi y'all.
I haven't been around in awhile, but I'm still kicking.
LOTS have changed over the last couple of years. June of 2016 I walked outta work before I beat someone down, or got beat. Either way..........
Went and sat on a nice ladies couch and she determined that I might be a little stressed, lol, so I turned 55 in November and liked the time off so much that I sent them an email and told them that they need not look for me in 2017. December 30th, 2016 was my last day.
I had Steve Knecum build me a bigass motor. Johnny tuned it, and we added a hunnit shot. It's a little short on HP because he built it light on compression so I could spray it big and also run pump gas, plus i'm going thru a street pipe instead of a sidewinder. The hunnit netted 95 hp for a total of 335 to the tire, spinning on the dyno.
I peeled off some cash and am building my dream house in the middle of 4.5 acres in the woods.
There's a WHOLE lot to talk about, but I won't bore y'all unless someone is interested.
Check out the time from 85mph to 185mph. It's only a 6 second trip.
I am 1 up on the front and 2 down on the rear. I didn't hit the spray till third gear, at only 40%.
ENJOY.

Hey you old fart  ! Yeah it slow around here,  it's not like it use to be, sounds nice on your place,  I know what you mean I have 3 years or about 2 1/2 to retire from the state of Texas and man am I ready, I might haft to come visit you one day and go out for lunch, I might even drive the LS chevelle down, or the 14R. Looks like you still love the Busa, still have your 14R ? I'm thinking about asking our local Suzuki shop about a salesmen job in a few years doing something I enjoy/love for motorcycles, or flip or cars and trucks  I have a 68 C10 stepside right now waiting for the right owner to come along.

Good to see you Rev. Sounds like you got it going your way. I'm selling all of my Big Block stuff and going LS.
I bought a virgin low mileage 2012 Grand Sport and as you prolly already can guess, I hurt the motor, lol. It went a 10.18 at 137 with a cam, headers and a 200 shot. Stock convertor and 2.73 rear end. I put a Texas Speed LS3, 376" shortblock and had them CnC the heads. Oh yeah, and I put a second nitrous kit on it. Well, Nitrous Outlet sent us the wrong jet chart, so instead of adding an additional 200hp on the second kit, I was adding another 400hp. Needless to say, I hurt the engine on the dyno. I'm at 43% leak down on 3 cylinders......So, what does the average guy do when that happens?? I remove the second kit and up the 1st kit to 300hp. Leaving on 225hp and ramping the other 75hp in over a .4 seconds. So........I left at 1500 rpms and before 2200 rpms the whole 300hp was in.

I have a brand new, VERY nice 496".

Since the Grand Sport engine is hurt, I ordered a brand new LS3 and twin 62s for it. Were gonna start that project within a few weeks.
They are telling me 800 on pump gas and over 1,000 on E85. I can see me going back to the mile, lolol.

Yeah, I still have this ole jalopy...

The bodywork is a little worse for wear after 17.5 years of abuse but...she's still running.  I'm trying to source out new oem 2000 body work now.

I sold my trusty '01 GSXR1000 back in 13' and bought a new BMW S1000RR, then got bored with bikes all together after a couple years.  I had a 5 year odyesse with a 900rwhp C5Z which I finally got out from under and picked up a new C7Z to cruise in.  Still playing with my 71' BB vette also.  Trying to get my interest back in bikes at the moment.

As for here, I pop in and lurk every now and then, but the whole place seems dead. That's pretty much common on all of the forums now, dying a slow death from FB.

I sure miss our hey day here from '04-07.  Those were great times here and kept me ate up with hayabusas and bikes in general. I guess time moves on. :frown:

I hope everyone is still doing well...especially the OGs.. :D

16 years for me and you Dawg.

;)

Longer then that broseph... you had the 98' ZX11 when we met, you didn't even have a busa yet.  That was in 2000 sometime... so for 17 years you've had the pleasure of knowing me.  :D

Man those early days of the busa circa 2000 on up until 04 when I did the first turbo setup, those days were a fuckin blast.  The excitement of these new monsters on the street and modding them, so much fun.  I haven't really felt like that since with any of the other toys.

Remember TECH, Grecco, Busaforhire, LoftyAbuse, BirdofPrey, ScaryJerry, Shamrock(Rob Kelly)...  lots of good OGs from back then.

Awesome to hear he is still doing well and you still have your old turbo bike as well.  Our old junk are classics now.. it's funny when I pop the hump off and people see the 10 boxes I have mounted in there, everyone is like "wtf is all that shit?".... that's the shit we used to put on these ole dinosaurs to haul ass back 12-13 years ago..lol

Every time I get on mine, after just a few minutes I always ask myself, "why don't I ride this thing more?"...

Well I'm gonna start to gawt dammit.

Good to see you back !

Here is what's inside an LS engine guys so you know how to prevent disasters and have some fun.  Hopefully this helps you guys, I work on them every week.

The platform is ok, but any part from Gm is garbage including the blocks. What I hate is that you have to pull the heads to gain access to the lifters, on the trucks with cylinder shut down, the lifters fail and it's a job to gain access when they could have left room in the head. The other problem is non adjustable valve train. The good news is they respond to a valve job better then anything else due to the valves being so crooked! You can't believe how good they run when the valves seal up!

Best advice, if you're going to build more then 10 % more then factory output, if you can afford it, get an aftermarket DART block or equivalent. We are seeing puked out LS Corvette stuff all the damn time along with Camaro and now trucks and everything else due to the one bolt oil-pickup tube used when they should have used two!  There is provision for two but by only using one, it makes the engine a ticking time bomb!
The windowed out blocks WILL twist eventually with boost and make the mains come out of alignment. One customer had it happen twice on two new blocks he bought from Gm.
He brought me the third block and wanted it to work so I decked and bored, believe it or not the stock bores are out of round, and the decks were off from end to end and side to side!
We mocked it up putting a piston in each corner and all four were off differently in relation to deck!
I can't believe how bad their machining and finishing processes are!
End of story, I told him no warranty if boosted and he decided to remove the supercharger and use it naturally aspirated which after mostly aftermarket parts it SHOULD hang together awhile...

The bottom pic is how they decided to window all the blocks including the Z06 blocks on the high output LS stuff used in Vettes and Camaros, but choose not to on the trucks with aluminum.
From the top down, the valve springs break, there isn't a straight valve in one, the lifters fail takes out the cam, the cam bearings spin, timing chains break due to heavier valve springs especially if you modify!! The pistons rattle, the bottom end fails due to o-ring failure.
Other then that they are fine if you don't use them haha!

Good news is we are busy as hell keepin up with this all and it's all a secret so shhhhh!!! :thumb:
Just a heads up nothing more have fun!

Current state of mine...

The body is off to paint for a well deserved resto... we'll be trying to duplicate the 00' blue/silver paint and graphics as close as we can.  Having to do a lot of custom stuff to get the graphics right..

Here is where mine is at, doing updating and upgrading as well. Got a ton of miles on it, so ceramic coating the header and turbo housing, electric boost gauge, Gen II Radiator and a few more goodies.

Thanks for the advice, I knew about most of this stuff,  The 05-07 LQ4/LQ9(stronger rods, coating on pistons)  are the best from the factory,  they hold more hp than the aluminum ones, and are only about 75 pounds more, and can be purchased cheap I bought a 2005 2500 HD with 60k miles damage (truck bed and tailgate )pulling a trailer.  $2000  I parted it out and made $5K, and put the motor in my Chevelle,  I plan on changing  rockers, timing chain, spings, cam 560 or less and about 600hp boosted stock bore.

I was surprised to see the aluminum blocks out of the newer Yukon was a solid well built no windowing block. Looked much nicer then the ones we see out of the Vettes. Didn't make much sense to me, since the output is much lower.. I don't understand a lot of things Gm does these days.
The Iron blocks seem pretty decent, heavy but strong.

Hey I know it's a rumor but are the next Gen Vettes coming out with overhead cam engines? I had a customer tell me that the other day

Ready to reinstall. Ceramic coating is sweeet!

Hope to keep the heat down, this and a Gen II radiator should help I think.

I read a article from GM a while back that said they didn't plan on overhead cams due  GM wanting to keep that big block sound, and still be able to out perform the foreign sports car with a push rod motor, the biggest change is will they go to a mid engine(ZR1) for better traction  and power to weight ratio? that would put them over the top, I believe there is a twin turbo coming for the next ZR1, how else can they beat hellcat, demon, etc? That's the only way, the ctsv, Ford eco  boost, are all pointing to some serious stuff coming down the pipe line. And Suzuki has admitted to looking and testing turbo chargers for the 2018 Hayabusa, not since the B-King has this been talked about.  Suzuki has to due something about the H2R/H2,  I'm even starting to look at the H2 on cycle trader used $ are going down to 20k maybe and a year or two 15/16$K flash it pipe it 250/260 hp :FIREdevil:

How much hp is your Hayabusa putting out ? I have thought about building a Turbo 300 hp low boost and 400 high boost.
Title: Re: Hey yezz old bastids..........
Post by: Falcon-A on May 17, 2017, 08:57:48 AM
I'm at the "low boost" according to you nutz-o's! 12 PSI is all.
I am with stock wheel base and a GSXR1K tail so I lightened it and love the short wheel base as I built it for riding! I never take it out without putting at least 120 miles, most of the time over 200!

I did shave the head a bit when I did my valve job and port. So it's quite lively and fun as hell. After redegreeing the cams, my boost is seemless!

I can't wait to put it all back together, I've had it apart for a month.
Other then oil changes, I hadn't tore into it since I put the turbo on back in 2012, it's been running flawless up until it started it's "when hot hard starting" BS.

After long rides it became hard to start and ran like shit, so I would pull off the fuel return line and let the vapor out then it would run fine. I decided to double insulate the fuel lines and get rid of all that excess heat, no reason for that. That's when I decided to ceramic coat the header and turbo housing. A heat blanket for good measure as well!

It also will help spool up supposedly. I will keep you updated.

As far as the cars go, Gm would really improve if they for one made the heads so you could get access to the lifters without having to pull them off!
Also if they would use better parts from the factory. But we both know that probably won't happen!
If they do I'll run out of work haha
Had my first Eco-beast 3.5 apart the other day. They hadn't changed oil for some time the block was full of sludge.
Spun a main. Ooops. I line bored it. Would you believe the main journal was 2.851 diameter! A big block Chev 454 is 2.9
Race bearing coated, from the factory! Hell of a block and crank is heavy as hell! Very impressive!
Both I and the shop owner that brought it out agreed we would own one without question!
Gotta give Ford credit, they are damn smooth, and have a shit ton of power! I've never been a small engine or anything less then a V8, but for every day use they have their merit.

See now that's the interesting thing. We (all shops I work with) rarely work on Ford stuff. It's few and far in between.
Now there are two people around here that have those, and they love em! I haven't heard anything bad whatsoever!

I grew up a Chevy lover! Everyone I know hangout with etc... was the same way.
My whole family was. I will stress WAS!
Nobody in my immediate, or even extended family will have a GM product. I kid you not. I personally don't care but I have noticed over the years how many friends have switched over especially the trucks. Lots of Dodge around these parts too!

If I had to make a living rebuilding Ford engines we'd ALL be broke! Not much goes wrong as long as you do oil changes with GOOD OIL!!
Nothing is perfect, but everything has flaws, but we see the most with GM hands down!
I was BSing with a buddy who owns three shops. He and I both laughed about it when we were discussing it. He said he has made his living off mostly Gm stuff for decades! It's a secret in the industry very few will admit. The techs love them because they all have the same problems so they are easy to diagnose and repair. We can stock the parts as well because it's the same same same continuously!

Now it's getting tougher because there are quite a few variations in the LS that makes them different even though they are the same.

Since the Bailout I think hatred has increased to the level of salesman quitting because of it. One good friend is a salesman and he switched because he said between recalls and people bitching about the bailout he couldn't take it anymore.

He now works at a Ford,Chrysler Jeep dealer and is very successful!
I am sharing this because I think you guys are outstanding and we have the same interests. Otherwise I wouldn't say anything about it. Take it for what it is. \

BTW I was going to buy one myself, I went and looked at one and it was the only one they had and it already was on hold. Stripped down bare ass version for $45,000! That was extremely tempting!

I bought an Audi Cabriolet and absolutely love it. It's not near as fast but all wheel drive 40 valve V8 and quiet as can be with the most kick ass stereo and seats! I have never loved a car as much as I love this!

I'm a die hard Toyota man myself,  I keep atleast 3-4 around,  I have a 07 5.7 Crewmax I got new, now 153k miles, 2012 Sequoia 5.7, and a new Toyota camry, I've had a new Tacoma back in the day I put 215k and sold it for 6 grand, a Sienna that we put 260k, on, a corolla etc. I like to work on my on stuff. Toyota cost more but last 3 times as long

I have my 72 chevelle,  a 68 C10 for sale, and I'm debating on a 1970 chevelle convertible or a convertible  2013/14 GT500 and a few years, the style of the 70 is way cooler but a new muscle car would be sweet as well. Plus I got leave room for the next generation Hayabusa  which will come sooner or later ! Take care guys and gals Revalot out !!

I don't believe I've seen that color of corvette. Is that a factory color?

Mine is Carlisle Blue. It's a factory color but an upgraded paint option that you have to pay for, hence it's rarity.

Toyotas are just plain awesome! Even the cars like the Camry has a very well built engine!
Imports are very good but sometimes the parts are a little spendy.
Run good oil, change often and do all other maintenance at least on time, or if you want to keep it cut the owners manuals suggested intervals.

Classic muscle cars are a lot of fun and you can build the heck out of them!

I considered a new Busa as well, but I'm keeping the one I have. Have way too much invested!

Swingarm, front and rear sets, catch can are all going to the powder coater this week...  I'm going to sand/repaint the lower fork legs, finish detailing the frame as best I can with it all together...Then start reassembling while I wait for the body to come back from the painter, and then its off to the graphics shop to replicate the 00' blue-chrome Kanjis....

The cost is racking up for sure..I've spent over $200 just on new oem fasteners, grommets, plastic knick knacks etc...  I even bought a new old stock gauge bezel and shipping it here from Austrailia....

She's gonna be perfect when its all done... :D

Looking good  ! Is that a 19 tooth front sprocket ? Suzuki makes the best motorcycles, GSXR 1127, 01 GSXR 1K, 2005 1K GSXR, are classic, I had a chance to buy the last 1127 in my home town,  I passed and got a new FZR 1k, it was great. But I always wished I would have got the air/oil cooled bike after I rode one.

Yes it's a 19t front.  I run a 47t rear on the street, but then I can go to a 40t and shorten the chain for LSR stuff.

Yeah I had a black/silver 01' 1000 that I loved.  I had it for 7 years and 13k miles. I sold it for a new BMW s1000rr and kind of regret it.  I really miss the looks/comfort of the older bikes.

I'm slowly chipping away at the detail stuff on the busa, really held up now waiting on the swing arm to come back from powder coating.  The body/paint is still about 2wks out.

It will be a gloss silver color...Pretty close to the factory rear sets paint color.

It should look just like it did before...

I'm also replicating the 00' paint scheme, however the blue will be a House of Colors, "Cobalt" blue candy..Its a little lighter, a lot more "blue" and deeper....It should pop a bit more.  I'm having a graphics shop trying to replicate the 00' blue-chrome kanji as best they can.

The goal was to replicate both the 00' appearance, and how I have kept the bike for the last 13-14 years in style.....but add just a bit of flavor to it.

Naw.... I'll never sell it.. Hell I've owned it 17.5 years at this point, I bought it new in Feb '00. Its been turboed since Jun 04'.... I've done a lot of stuff with this bike...39k miles of hauling ass, drag racing, amateur land speed stuff, road trips etc... Its a part of me....Even if I haven't rode it much in recent years.

Update. Got her all back together. Valves are clearanced and bumped the boost a bit.

Love the Autometer #5750 as its movement is fluid and stable making it easy to read. NOT FLUID FILLED> IT's electric. Works awesome!

I can honestly say, if you guys haven't ceramic coated your headers and turbo housings, DO IT!

Boost is there all the time. Heck even riding a straight line at 60 mph my boost gauge shows a pound. So spool up is right from the get go! No boost transition or lag or spit or sputter it's there it's seemless and it's crisp and smooth!!

It's so damn much fun to ride that I hated to get off! It's worth every penny I can't stress that enough!!   :thumb: :thumb:

ZX-ALAN looking good !! Cobalt blue is poping,  the busa  will look better than new,  and you went to the hot rod power tour, I noticed the add for DFW I should have rolled my LS chevelle up, looks like I will be joining the turbo club, I have twins S256sx  coming for my LQ4, LS9 headgaskets, ARP bolts, Pac 1218, etc, etc. If all goes well a turbo Busa is probably down the road if next year Busa is a bust.

Making a little progress.... I finally got the decals on..

About as close to the factory decal locations as I could get them.
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/ZXALAN/IMG_4301_zps8rma8tss.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ZXALAN/media/IMG_4301_zps8rma8tss.jpg.html)

I got the forks stripped down and repainted, new bolts etc..
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/ZXALAN/IMG_4275_zpsvl3wrsuo.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ZXALAN/media/IMG_4275_zpsvl3wrsuo.jpg.html)

Got some metallic in it for bling...
(http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/ZXALAN/IMG_4280_zpsif4ealdv.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/user/ZXALAN/media/IMG_4280_zpsif4ealdv.jpg.html)

Now I'm waiting on the front wheel to come back from the chrome shop, get the new tire on it and get it on the bike, then I'll start putting the body on it.
Also waiting on the rear sets and catch can to come back from the powder coater.  I bought some Xpel clear film I'm gonna attempt to cover the lower fairing strike zones with and a new "Tank Slapper" for the tank.

Hopefully 2-3 weeks and I'll be done.  Just chipping away at it.

No progress for me.  Front wheel/rotors at the chromers for another week, rear sets at the powdercoaters....  pretty much dead in the water waiting on parts. I don't want to put the body back on until it's back on wheels and not teetering on jack stands.. :hide:

Yeah, dirtbikes are dangerous AF.... The worst I ever got hurt on a motorcycle was on dirtbikes... Looped a KX65 and looped a YZ426F.... Needless to say, wheelies aren't my thing...   Tore my meniscus on the YZ426 crash....  :fiddy:

I'm too old for that shit now... I figure that if I crash the busa, I'm probably hauling ass and will likely be dead so...less chance of pain...I'm too old for pain now.

I hear you bro, that dirt bike is way more dangerous than my Busa(up to about 80 mph anyway).Put a tach on it today and it'll hit 10,000 rpms in a hurry(96mmx62.1mm bore and stroke,4 valve ported head and 12 to 1 compression,Leo Vince pipe, etc.),little bastard is a beast at only 217 lbs. dry weight...first time I ever had a motorsickle that weighs less than my fat ass.

Man,I haven't seen Grecco and those other guys on here for years(Grecco for sure, thinking he got a Ducati way back and dropped off),this is my 10th year here and I check it out several times daily.

I went just back and searched my posts from the beginning...and oh man.. what an articulate and eloquent poster I was....LOL :D

I find myself just as entertaining now as I was back then in 02'....LOL  I saw a bunch of pics I had posted from LONG ago that I forgot about and they still existed....Saw lots of stuff I forgot that I had done back then, pretty cool walk down memory lane.

I used to have a lot of fun in this place back in the 02-05' era....  This place was always hopping back then, especially when the turbo scene started blowing up.  I really enjoyed those times, I basically grew up on my busa.....owned it for 17.5 years now, and I'll never sell it, its too much of a part of me.  This place was too.... a long time ago.

Do you remember my infamous "Playa reports"?   From my single days trying to kill it in the clubs...man I can't believe I posted all of that shit on here in off topic... :hys:   I was a nut.

Yep I remember Chris... Matter in fact, my head light assembly and front battery box was on one of Chris' turbo bikes... He "modded" a stock headlight assembly, (basically sectioned it out, took 2" out and glued it all back together) to make room for a battery to fit behind the gauge cluster, he built a nice little chromoly battery box.... I bought that shit and a GPM top mount steering damper from him... This was in 08' I think...I still have that stuff on my bike today.

Yeah I started out on the first .org in 2000, then Dennis started this one in 02 I think.  Then there was a server crash in there some where..... Then Flipper took it all over in 05 ish..   But yeah I was there from the get go... Hell I was on LABs since 99'... I still get on that shit every day and there hasnt been a bike topic there in a decade.

The off topic section here back in the 03-05' days was crazy.... pretty much anything went.. We would all post pics of women we were banging or trying to bang etc, it was a free for all here then....  Then they did away with Off topic for a long time... Maybe its back now, not sure.  It was fun then tho.

Yep.... I remember your busa..from around the 06-07' days I think.... 8)

I did my first turbo in June of 04.  Motorhead/Richard had just come out with the Ghetto kits in 03.... TECH had one of the first ones locally here.  After seing his bike run, I bought one within a few months and changed from my cam/nitrous setup.  Busa4Hire (Jody) had one of the first kits Dennis had installed... He ran race gas full time and was making 320hp on like 16 psi way back in 03... That bike trapped 169 mph in the 1/4 and I just thought that shit was nutz...I had to have it.  From that point on, I lived in the Turbotalk section for the next 5-6 years.

I had the ghetto kit/stock motor deal for about 4 years then I popped it.  Then did the built motor/RCC stg 2 intercooled kit in late 08' and been together ever since. I kind of lost interest in bikes in about 2011 or so....then in 13', caught a wild hair and bought a BMW S1000RR...modded it, then lost interest again.  I've been knee deep into 900+hp corvettes for years so the bikes took a back burner.... but now, I sold the big power vette, bought a C7Z and its still stock, and back to playing with the bikes... They are cheaper and more fun, it just took me 5 years to realize it. :smashfreak:

I remember your "playa reports" very well
Its good to see you back posting, its been too long.
I look in on labs now and then, but all seems very childish to me, nothing of interest.
A few have been back and then gone again.

Last time I saw scary jerry was with Thomas at Santa Pod when I had my supercharged Busa.
That was a few years ago.
I've never been off bikes, I just ride a retro Kawasaki which has been in bits for 4 years, soon to be fired up.
Its one of the very last air cooled big 4 cyl Kawasaki's and creeping up in value. But I'm not selling it.
My mates have been giving me hell to get it on the road for months !!!!

Jerry was living near Newport News VA, and I believe is now in or near Daytona Beach FL. He sold his bike a while ago.

I wish  I could find my old orange busa I'd buy it back in a heart beat. Wonder if someone on this board knows where it is or if it still exists.

Yeah I see you post occassionally on LABs... I still check LABs every day and occassionally post but... Its pretty much the same old shit every time I get on...same people bitching about the same shit so.....

I remember your supercharged bike, you did that before just about anyone else did.... Now Procharger actually has a production kit out for the Hayabusa.  There is even some ProStreet racers here using prochargers and hauling ass with them....(low to mid 7s)

Its easy to lose motivation in projects and bikes in general, but I would always have to have one ready to ride for when the bug bites me..  I'm planning on getting my old busa back together in a couple weeks and I'll be riding the shit out of it.

Good to see you are still around here though... :beer_yum:

Thanks John, I'm glad to hear Jerry is still around and back in the states... I think he was in Germany when him and I corresponded a lot.

Congrats on getting your Prostreet bike flying...  Its crazy how fast those bikes have became in the last 4-5 years.... 6s@220+ is straight up insane for a "street bike".

Good to see you are still around here too.... (especially for tech help if I have a problem I can't figure out... :D)

Will be racing this weekend in Benson NC at Galot Motorsports Park or whatever it is called (only 1/8th mile though, and I still need to build a motor, swap ot out for the one that is in the bike and hopefully test on thursday).  Then up to Virginia Motorsports Park the next week for "Kings of Grudge", then to MD for an IDBL race the week after that.

6.86@212 for the supercharged Procharger bike in Prostreet by the way. Eric Paquette owns /builds/tunes and Tony Ficher rides it.

Creeping along at a snails pace...

Got the front/rear sets back from powdercoating and reinstalled, also got the tank/tail section on.   Also got the front wheel back from the chrome shop, polished the rotors etc....The upper cowl went back to the paint shop due to a slight variation in the silver section so its getting redone....Gonna be a couple more weeks..

Fresh bling...

Yeah I have wanted to do it for a few years...my original paint was pretty beat up, my swingarm powder coating was cracking, my forks were chipped all up and my wheels looked like ass.  It was time for a full cosmetic resto...  I kind of wanted to pull the motor and really clean everything up there, as well as change shift forks but.....I'll save that for later.

This thing still runs great so....I'm just gonna ride it for now.  I'm kind of wanting to go to Co2 for the boost controller, that may be my next project.

I have had parts sitting around for Co2 for years
put it on last wek

Freaking regulator seems to have a issue
I set the pressure.. then it creeps creeps creeps

Yeah I need to research how to do it all... I'm wondering if I can just T into my Co2 line from my 9 oz air shifter bottle, then add a regulator to step it down?  I haven't researched it much...at least not in the last 6-7 years...LOL

I just ride around on a 1 bar spring and its hella fun....Spools REALLY quick, even at 30-40% throttle it will jump up to 14 psi QUICK>.... super fun... However, roll racing is big down here and I can't do SHIT with it like this... Except for maybe 3rd gear, 80 mph rolls...and then it still wheelies..LOL.

I think I want to go back to my 10lb spring (which makes about 9 psi)....and add Co2 to help it spool faster, let the AMS do the work.  I wish I could get the GPS mode to work consistently on the AMS but....I know its impossible, especially on 2000 busa electronics...

I also want to wire up the "Scramble" button so I can tap into the boost when I need some extra...I've been putting this shit off for YEARS...

Hell my AMS is not even being used right now for control, only a boost gauge...

I just love how that big spring spools on the street...

As for the resto, I was actually going to buy all new 00' plastics from Ron Ayers or Bike Bandit etc...but they are no longer available in blue/silver from Suzuki, so I had to have them painted...and since I was painting them, I figured I'd "spice" it up a bit.
Title: Re: Hey yezz old bastids..........
Post by: Nosgsx1300 on July 19, 2017, 08:54:21 PM
every one says AMS don't work in GPS
the ONLY issue I currently have with mine is
when passing thru 1-2 shift I MOMENTARILY get 6th gear only while the neutral light is on.
foot shifting I am off the throttle so who cares
Air shifting I have not seen the light

Co2 I regulated with a "palmer pursuit" regulator at 100 PSI to my swingarm
then 1/4 plastic lint to a air regulator down to 30 PSI for the AMS
scramble button I put on a 07 LH control with push to pass
Title: Re: Hey yezz old bastids..........
Post by: ZX-ALAN on July 19, 2017, 09:21:37 PM
Good idea on the 07 Push to Pass button!  I may have to do that myself.... :smoking:

The only thing is, my 00 uses the Fast Idle level which I'm sure won't work on the 07' control assembly...  I'll have to look into this...

Thanks for the idea tho...

On the Co2, I was thinking about getting the 60 psi reg that NLR sells, and just T into my air shifter line that is already regulated down to 125 psi out of the bottle...

Basically just add a T, install the regulator inline, then run it to the increase noid....

I just wonder how fast it will suck down a 9 oz bottle running the AMS and air shifter off of it......although its not like a ride it much anyway.

Post by: Nosgsx1300 on July 19, 2017, 09:26:41 PM
fast idle works fine

how long it lasts depends on how much shifting boosting you do
and how air tight your system is

Yeah I always said if I redid it, I wanted to make it pop a little more.   Originally I was going to paint it using the 2002 Blue from the blue/black busa that year, but the painter talked me into the Kobalt candy, I'm glad we went with it.   I wanted a good replication of the oem 00' paint scheme, but something to stand out a bit more.  I think we nailed it.  I'm afraid to ride it now...(rock chips)

Yeah I bought some Xpel film I'm going to attempt to install on the front fender and lower fairings behind the tire.  Hopefully I can make it look ok.  I'm not gonna live in paranoia about rock chips, but will try to save the main strike zones.

Been pretty busy this year and trying to stay positive.  In-laws had some medical issues (cancer/heart attack, etc) and I was given the opportunity to move close for work so we jumped on it and are now in Ohio.  Been traveling out of state 4-months of the last 9 so it's been fun.  Always thought we wanted to be closer and move back home but wife isn't real thrilled with work (my schedule or hers), schools, etc, and the kids miss Texas of course..lol  Not to mention they want almost double the price for my same house in TX here so who knows what our future holds when it's all done.  I've lost more than a few friends during this entire process (RIP) so kind of lost interest in a lot of stuff.  It's been weird lately I guess.  Trying to keep pressing and take care of business.  I've been wanting to get my bike up to Richard for a few updates, just don't have the time right now and wonder if it's worth another $10k+ to do what I want?!  Maybe seeing a few others tinkering will get me interested and motivated again to find a weekend to get it out, serviced, licensed, and going! :thumb:

Hope all you guys are doing well and having fun!   :tu:

Chris- nice retirement home you are building!  I've been following along with your photos and it looks amazing.

Damn man, sounds like you have had your plate full for sure.  Seems crazy to me that housing would be that much more expensive in freakin Ohio  :smashfreak:  Hopefully everything will settle down for you and the family can settle in and be comfortable again.

I hear ya on the upgrades.  I've thought about the Ultra Plenum/exchanger swap, just so I can make a little more power on pump gas but....for no more then what I ride it, and even less so race it, I can't justify the cost.  Plus that's Ultra stuff is insane expensive....

As for interest in the hobby, we'll I kind of lost interest in bikes in the 10'-13' range, then I got a wild hair to buy an s1000RR in Aug 13' and I was hot to trot on bikes for about a year, then lost interest again.

So a buddy of mine was really wanting to get his first bike, he took MSF and got his license.  We then found him a virgin 2005 GSXR1000 with 1400 original miles on it in Austin.  I took him to get this pristine stock bike, and just seeing his excitement and enthusiasm for beginning in the sportbikes hobby/lifestyle really sparked an interest in me, kind of like getting back to the basics and reliving that passion over again.  During this time, I started feeling nostalgic about my busa and planned the resto..

Now I'm trying to resist the urge to buy some vintage sport bikes I've always wanted... (98' TLR, 98-99 SRAD 750, and a few others..)

My C5Z build really derailed my bike passion but....I feel it coming back hard.  I've been working out/dieting, bought new gear and setting up group rides again.

I can't wait to take the busa out on its maiden voyage.

It's beyond crazy!  Not only have prices around Columbus gone up 20-40% in the last year and a half but people are waiving appraisals AND inspections.  They go in offering $10k+ over asking price just to be considered.  I will never do that garbage for any house, nope.  I feel like we are another market headed in the wrong direction up here.  I hate not having our own place again but at least we're in a good place to save some cash.

Same here on bike cost.  The ECUeditor boost controller is complete junk for what I'm trying to do.  I want to get setup with an AMS2K.  The last few races the bike kept jumping out of gear so I need to go through the transmission and get that sorted.  Figured while it's apart I'd think about upgrading but do I need a 600whp+ streetbike?  I don't hardly use the 400+ I have now but whatever.  :D  I still want to run 250+ in 1-mile and maybe 220+ in the 1/2.  :fro:

Then I think something new might come out that interests me but short of another Busa I just don't see it.  Looked at the H2's for a bit and with the cost I'd be taking a step backwards in performance.  Not to mention by the time you buy one and add mods you're in for $30k only to go slower.  I'm better off keeping what I have.  Been looking at some dirt-bikes for my girls so who knows.

ZX-ALAN  ! Wow another OG for sure,  still have your turbo Busa?  SleeperBusa  I have a relative that might be interested in some of those big block parts he sold his 68 LS camaro, and  is thinking about going from a 468 to a 510 or bigger. His C6 Z06 has spoiled him, Nice times on your vette(I'm planning on turbo  and cam for my 6.0 and around 600hp for the street), I wanted one 60 anniversary with 427 would be nice I'm to tall to fit in 1. I'm really hoping Suzuki brings out a new Hayabusa next year, I just got home from work on my 14R,  but deep down I'm still Suzuki all the way.
Jeff good to see you to !  Man all we need is Pat D, John N,  and it would be like all times,. God bless you guys  !

beautiful bike.... I bought one and I'm way over my head with it...

Yeah but I’ve spent some money on the ole pile for sure in the last year....all cosmetic.

I really wanted to put some anodized blue OZ wheels on it but, I don’t trust the Cush drives in them for this heavy of a bike and this much power, especially for a lot of street riding.

Yeah, I still have this ole jalopy...
Pic from last weekend

beautiful bike.... I bought one and I'm way over my head with it...

Thanks.  That pic you quoted was before I repainted the bike.

You’ll get used to the turbo bike with a little time under your belt.  Just take it easy at first.  Remember they are harder to slow down then they are to accelerate.  Before long, you’ll be wanting to turn it up. :?

Yes that is the one that I have.  From what I recall, it was very easy to dial in....Although I installed it like 7-8 years ago so..  But that is the one with the max recall button option as well.

I'm not sure if Smithabusa is still selling anything for busas anymore.  I haven't talked to him in years.

Yeah, it seems kind of strange to come back all these later, when others are either letting the ride collect dust or they're getting out altogether.

I called you the other day.. Did you get a v/m ?

 you are kinda like The Stig,,, hangin' out in the garage wearing your helmet and Vanson leathers.

The bike turned out beautifully, BTW.
How did the XPel wrap come together? Were there any stumbling blocks? You did the whole bike, right?

Man I sure didn't check the VMs....They are probably gone.  I get at least 10 calls a day from weird numbers I never answer.

Feel free to text me any time... If I'm at work, I can't answer but can text.

Yeah it is weird to come back here after basically being out of the busa game for the last 6-7 years...  I got into building a C5Z from 2011-2016 and it had ALL of my focus and money....I sold it, bought a new C7Z that I just cruise and don't fuck with, so I'm back to the busa for pittling around..

The Xpel came out pretty good.  I had the big Houston Xpel shop do it all. They had never done a bike before.  Its not perfect, but certainly will do the job.  Its really cool that it keeps wax and junk out of the stickers on the farings too.   Most would never notice its on there....
