Title: Gearing help. Building a 67" bike and need a starting point
Post by: blackdeath on August 30, 2017, 09:03:56 PM
I raced a 64" 1000 for a handful of years.  Now building a Gen2 busa instead.  I'm looking for a starting point with gearing for the bike I'm building.  Any help would be appreciated since I'd rather not buy 10 rear sprockets right off the bat.

I weigh 200 suited.
Bike specs:
For the time being the motor will stay stock.
Planned 67".  Minimum length 64" if I have local traction issues.
0.5" offset triple clamps.
05 1000 forks and wheels.
Cut frame rail.
Grudge style tank shell.
And last but not least jri drag shock.

Under 200 horse power ~  you weigh 200 pounds ?

If you want to spray it later down the road .  .  .

Maybe 2 teeth bigger out back ?

Then let her eat !

200 suited.  I added my weight to the OP as well.

Long term it will be a bottle feed bike but for now I'm just trying to get something to run again.

If I remember correctly 18 tooth is a factory front sprocket.  So if I buy a 16 and 17 tooth front.  And a 44 tooth rear I should be covered with a good starting point.  Sounds like a plan to me.

17/46 I get the best et and mph. I am 6 over right now. 225lb unsuited stock motor gen 2. I have tried 47 & 48, but best et and mph is with the 46. Still not launching hard enough, that may change things later.
