Just for good measure Kawasaki have bought out a retro "cafe racer" version for 2018.
https://www.kawasaki.co.uk/en/products/Z900RS/2018/Z900RS_CAFE/overview?Uid=09C9WVsNCVsKDlhQWA4KXA0KDApcCVsJCQtbUQpbWQ0MDV4

A cafe racer it is not, but its not too bad an attempt at a retro.
Seeing as Suzuki are doing SFA of any new models lately.

Is it coming to the states??   All I've found here is the Vulcan Cafe 900.  :?

That's interesting because kawasaki US isn't listing the Z900RS. Kawasaki US are not listing the new H2 SX either?

Sorry, my bad.
The new H2 is called the H2 SX and not GT.
But it fits the grand tourer role.

If you'd like a sneak peak, here is one of the official videos.

http://www.youtube.com/v/Qr-dLLSzQ7s

When I was 16 and got my first road bike, one of my school mates Dad's bought a brand new Z900 when it was like the fastest thing ever made.
Or so it seems when you're 16. I still remember the deep bottle green metallic paint and the warble of the 4 into 4 exhaust on tickover. Dreams were made of this.
The rumour machine is red hot over here with the story that Kawasaki has made a supercharged version of the Z900RS.

Comparable performance to my current ride. Although the top speed claim might be a bit optimistic.
Last of the air cooled big Zeds and I know there are a few in the US.

The good ole days HOS!

I know you like Kawis but dang when I get those engines and they have stripped case screws, there isn't enough meat to even helicoil.
Is there something about a Kawi I'm missing?
Seems they all have leaks, whether its fork seals or cases, and they are the hardest, well nearly the hardest, Honda being number one to work on.
Honda, well that's like shingles on a roof. You have to start on one end and work your way to the other to get it apart! Everything over laps everything else!
 Jus my .02
If it were looks I'm goin after, I think they all have very distinct looks that I enjoy!
I like the retro Triumphs. They really do a great job and making retro bikes! Even hiding the fuel injection in fake carb setups.

There has always been Suzuki's and Kawasaki's in my garage over the years, I'm OK with either.
That inbuilt sixth sense/torque wrench is something we developed over the years of spannering on Jap bikes.
We developed advanced "dealing with monkey metal" skills.
Triumph are producing some fine retro models as you say, but they still have their issues.

I know I might be sounding like an old fart, but I will not have any wi-fi throttles in my garage noooo way.
Something as important as the throttle for basic safety is not one I want radio waves to be operating.
There are too many interference's for wi-fi out on the streets or spilling into our atmosphere from out there to be
taking any chances the throttle might not work when you need it, or it sticks open.
We saw the downside of electronics with important safety operations on bikes with the TT this year.
In Moto GP, WSBK, BSB etc they all heavily rely on electronics. But there isnt much to hit on a track and there is no traffic coming the other way.  :D

I thought I best post summat good about new bikes seeing as Suzuki are doing swfa  :dunno:
No new models and no retro's for the latest obsession with retro bikes.
The born agains are getting slower and want modern retro's.

They have announced the pricing for the USA market at $11,000-$12,000.  The only problem with that is it cost the same as the BMW R nine T Pure which has the same HP, but a quite a bit more TQ.  Sorry, if I am going to spend that kind of money on a retro to put around on the street with...it ain't going to be the Kawa.

Fair enough, each to their own. But some people might balk at the very high cost of OE parts and service for the BMW.
A mate has had three GS's and the running costs are a tad unreal. OK if you can afford it.
I would go with the Kawa out of all the choices atm for the same price simply because I had my first street bike
when the Z900 first came out and its long line of following models. Z1. Z1R Z1000, Z1100... etc
But I certainly would not choose Honda CB1100.
