hi looking for some help with a misfire i have on my 2007 gen 1. At tickover there is a slight fluctuation i the revs as if it is missing every few seconds, at just over 2000 rpm, 3500 rpm and 5000 rpm when riding the bike seems to run a bit uneven and is now doing my head in.
I have cleaned out the tank, fuel filter, pump, fuel lines and injectors, replaced plugs using standard CR9E plugs, changed all 4 COP's balanced throttle bodies and set TPS so now im stuck and looking for any other things to check so if anyone has had this same problem or can help i'd greatly appreciate it. Ive done a search on here without much luck. Thanks in advance

Sounds like you are not running the engine RPMs high enough. 5000 is barely up on the cams where they are designed to run... riding at 2000... the motor has no torque there... How does it do above those numbers?
-
it runs perfect at all other revs but its a pain in the town and in traffic sometimes. ive tried everything i can think of and its getting to the stage where its doing my head in trying to get it spot on.

Downshift...
-
lol yeah i can ride round about it but id prefer it to be spot on. it was never there before
-
I routinely ride around with 20-40 gearing at 1,800 rpm
Bike should run smooth everywhere
Have you done a compression check and or leakdown?
Reflashed the ECU? Airbox mod?
-
checked all of that, going to replace fuel pump next
-
possible to put a fuel pressure gauge on it and ride?
Pump issue you should see a pressure fluctuation
-
replaced fuel pump, sounds a bit better, need to take it a test run tomorrow to try it out
-
new fuel pump fitted and my little misfire has gone, only getting a little stumble at 1900rpm which is probably my fault by adjusting something. pulls from 1500rpm in 6th smoothly ( except 1900 rpm) all the way up the revs. happy days :huepfenicon111:

i had kinda the same problem for along time drove me nuts at certain rpms it would slightly break up, then after a while it got worse were if i hit a good bump on the highway the bike would shut off i checked and replaced many parts come to find out is was the connection to the tps i was under the tank one day and accidently bumped it and the bike shut off, i would suggest raising the tank and start wiggling shit while its running and see if u can duplicate it, i also had other connections go bad on me, i expect it after 18yrs and 170k on the clock
