Title: World's fastest and quickest grandfather

WORLD'S FASTEST AND QUICKEST GRANDFATHER

This weekend, from the starting line, I enjoyed watching Larry McBride
set the Top Speed record for Top Fuel motorcycles at 258mph
(and small change) at the Valdosta Ga finals.

Larry was visibly sideways for much of the first 1/8 mile,
but keep the throttle wide open.  With the front wheel high
in the air, and lots of "weight transfer" to the wheelie bars,
Larry wrestled the 1,000 pound monster to the finish.

I could be convinced that MotoGP guys have nothing
on these "car tire" boys in top fuel.

Larry also set the other end of the record several times.

He was the first guy to break into the 5.60's,
first at about 5.67, and then last night into the 5.61 zone.

It is highly unusual for top speeds to increase this quickly
at this level of racing; likewise, decreasing the ET by
a full 0.100 second in one weekend is almost unheard of.

Imagine Usain Bolt dropping his 100 meter
sprint by 0.20 seconds in one meet.

This week, Larry will, with his grandchildren, celebrate his 60th birthday.

I have chatted with Larry about these speeds:
He is fine with these ET's,
but would be happy to do them in the 240's.........

I was at the event and it was awesome. I actually  spoke with Larry after the race super nice guy. I was at the 1/8  mile when he made that run.
