Title: 08 Has Check Light and Temp Gauge Maxed Out- Runs Fine Though

I changed oil in a friend's 08 bus and the check light stays lit while the bike is running and the temp gauge pegs out immediately. I've googled the issue and see that it's a known issue but really don't see a fix. I jumpered out the sidestand switch and same deal. Any clues? I have no idea that this problem didn't exist before I touched it. Bike runs fine.

Temp switch checked good. Now entire cluster quit indicating. Looking like the cluster is kaput. Will investigate.

Maybe a fuse or loose  connection, that oil light would worry me...

It’s a low oil pressure light checking level really won’t tell you anything
