Out for a short ride yesterday morning and some old geezer blew through a Stop sign and knocked me down while I was making a left turn in front of him.Trashed left side, nose fairing, stator cover,etc.,etc.,etc. and didn't break any bones but left hand, shoulder, etc. are bunged up and still have a headache. At least the old boy was driving a nice Mercedes and admitted fault to the CHP officer taking the incident report.Called an attorney this morning and waiting for him to stop by the house this afternoon.Guess I should've had some boots on,only wearing Vans slip ons and knocked me right out of both of them. :hys:
-
Kin ell mate !
Very glad to hear you aren't too badly hurt. Low speed impacts still hurt though.
What have we said about old people hey? Shouldn't be on the road !
So he jumped a red light AND he didn't see you?
-
Swore he didn't see me bro, didn't surprise me as he was wearing dark sunglasses and was a cloudy, overcast morning.
-
What the hell Jefff. Knock it off. :playnice:

Dam Bud, its good the dude was upfront with the cops, but you know it takes three times longer for olds farts to heal

Sounds like he just wasn't looking in the first place, or lack of focus/concentration.
How's the body today? You got some good pain meds? or just some good old Whiskey !
Where is the bike?

Howdy John Boy,
It's my luck bro, first time on the Bus in 3 or 4 weeks and only went 10 or 12 miles(and less than a mile from home when he nailed me). :uploaded_shooting:

You got that right buddy, have more aches and pains this morning.Woke up this morning with a sore right foot and noticed my 2nd toe is purple and can't bend it,that sumbitch might be broken too. :lol:Going to a different doctor this morning for more x-rays,left hand is still puffy and can barely move fingers and need to get the toe looked at.

Yeah bro,he just wasn't looking,I was 2 feet in front of his car(broadside)when he barreled into me.Bike is here at home and looks like shit, bums me out.Did hire Russ Brown(the "Motorcycle Attorney")yesterday and one of his guys came out for about an hour.Super cool dude(also rides)and said I'd definitely get the bike fixed, lost wages and some for pain and suffering(told me what to do and what NOT to do ).Do have some pain meds.(Norcos)but not taking them, don't want to risk going down that downer road.

having no fractures is extremely good, heal fast!
-
...but fractures pay more. Thanks bro. :tu:
-
The bike can be fixed bro, that's great news!!
Very smart move with appointing a bike specialist lawyer :thumb:
Don't forget any damaged clothing on the claim? I don't know if it's legit over there?
I hope it's straightforward and the bike is mended soon.
Its summer here and the old fart here twisted his knee doing gardening ffs :hide:
I'm on strict orders to rest!! I am shit at resting, I hope you're better at it than me

Oh yes if the lid has had a smack even a scuff, you do not know how much damage has been done.
All lids have a shelf life because of UV degradation of the shell materials. So depending on the age of the lid even a small trap
can do enough damage to render the lid as a scrapper.
Same with your gloves, if its bust stitching on the gloves again replace them.
But don't be rushed into settling any claims yet my old mate ok. You got to make sure there is no longterm damage to your feet and hands. The older we get we don't mend as good or mend at all. Your lawyer should be looking out for you incase the guys insurance co are looking to do a fast pay off to limit their financial liability.
I had 6 years of this crap when they took that long to settle my claim. Ive got several worn out T shirts
I refused to let them settle until I was satisfied that all of my injuries and losses were covered.

Watch out for a brain injury, even the slightest bump can cause damage.
From someone who knows.
I'll watch out for you and I will tell you straight :thumb:

Went and got more x-rays and no new breaks(showed me the old breaks from my last crash in '02)but a shitload of arthritis in all of the joints.Guess all of the swelling is soft tissue damage and should recede in a week or so,he's a little concerned of shoulder damage but that's about it.Will take a while for it all to play out(still have the headache but said it's most likely a mild concussion like football players get).Want my damned bike fixed pretty soon though, really looks like shit.
-

Thanks bro,a little beat up and a couple $K in bike damage but that's about it. :punk:

Since there's no proof of any major injury(yet)I would imagine they'll have it settled in a month or so,will just have to wait it out. :thumb:
-
I think we all need to work on that advanced rider technique of diving under the bike to save it from major damage.
Some people have it down to a fine art.
I hope you get your bike back repaired soon bro.
Looking forward hearing about your ride outs again soon. 8)

Howdy big HOS,
Hoping the guy's insurance adjuster will show up in the next week or to give me an estimate on the damage.Left shoulder and hand still not right,am hoping to return to work Tuesday(though not looking good) as savings were used on the Jeep's motor and trans. and I'll need a paycheck in another couple of weeks.
-
Ello mate.
Hopefully you can get some loss of earnings back?
We can get a "sick note" (not fit to work) from a medical doctor to give to our bosses and also use them in an insurance claim situation. But I know some things are different stateside. Keep smiling my mate and just be glad
you haven't got the Royals being shoved in ya face every where you turn like we do atm! :D

Should be able to bro. :thumb:

Looks like she got banged up pretty bad ~ you should wait on the shoulder to heal *

Thanks for posting the pic Red,I tried but couldn't get it to come up over here.Waiting right now for a call from attorney and insurance co.,and feel good enough today to go back to work tomorrow(after spending that $5600 cash on the Jeep I'm about tapped and can't really afford to miss another week).Still a little sore but just have to suck it up and get busy.
-
Hey Bro, I understand fully the income thing. I was self employed when I had my bad un :thumb:
But Red has given good advice.
You could talk to your lawyer and say this accident has caused some financial hardship and seeing as the other guy has admitted liability
can they give you an interim payment, pending final settlement for loss of wages? Just to help pay some household bills and buy some groceries. That is a perfectly reasonable request. In saying this I assume the other side have accepted liability? The lawyer will tell you.
Stay strong and thinking about getting the bike sorted.
-
If that shoulder does not heal up right, you could make matters worse ~ just retire now as a disabled old man & stop paying taxes *
(https://sspphysio.com.au/images/normal-shoulder.jpg)
Some of the soft tissue damage can not be seen with an x - ray *

-
Yep get it checked ,tear in that area can heal in about 12 weeks of sling to support it, without you can end up with a dropped shoulder and constant niggling
bad tear needs surgery but minor does not necessarily get any advantage from surgery
All this stuff they never told me when i tore mine, and took the sling off after a day
Indicator is a lump on the top of the shoulder at the collar bone end where you would have a misalignment, and the need to not sleep on that side
That near home is a dangerous area , nearly hit a car myself last year last x road near home , the guy actually stopped at a give way then pulled out in time for me to just about hit him, if i had not felt something was wrong and slowed and he hadn't gassed it at the last moment i would have hit the back corner .bike fully loaded from weekend away with wife on back
-
Hi Greg,
Sounds kinda like what I've been experiencing bro, couldn't sleep on that shoulder for a week. Not bad now unless I move it a certain way and then feels like being prodded with an ice pick, thinking it's on the minor side but should know in a few more days or so(with all the arthritis I have everywhere it's hard to say one way or the other ).
I may just squeak by financially big HOS until a settlement is reached...may be livin' on peanut butter 'til then though.
You better come get that old Busa front wheel before I toss it Red. :hys:Wish I could retire bro,but don't see it happenin' anytime soon. :uploaded_shooting:

I can send you over a parcel of proper British shite if you need it :D
A bag of Pork Scratchings, some dry roasted peanuts and that famous British delicacy the samosa

I think a basic get off is 25k? cuz that's the the typical minimum they must hold, friend got his knee bunged, girl on the back a little scraped, he had a surgery, out of work for like 6 months, his attorney got him $385k.. the cager had to sell his home
