Guy Martin riding one of
Jack Frost's Holeshot Busas gen 2
put up a 257.727 mph backed up with
a 256.491 mph so that puts him well
up the list as his opening entry.

We are keeping our eyes on this one, waiting for more details.
MAX BIAGGI, the famous Roman Emperor and
winner of two World Superbike Titles, slammed
down a 254mph one-way speed
with an Voxan WATTMAN ELECTRIC motorcycle
Biaggi used the 2.17-mile runway of
Marcel Dassault Airport in Châteauroux, France !
-
Yes, we need more details. The Standing Start speeds they're claiming make absolutely no sense compared to the Flying Start speeds. And how did they manage all that on a 2.17 mile long course?
https://electrek.co/2020/11/04/this-254-mph-408-km-h-electric-motorcycle-just-set-11-new-world-records/
(edit) I suppose if Max used 1 mile (1.6 km) to accelerate into the measured kilometer, he would have .9 km to significantly slow/turn off. Possible but probably pretty scary. Granted, he's a great rider but that's not much room. And the slow Standing Start speeds baffle me.
-
Congratulations to Voxan on there speeds,
But i do have some questions on there FIM compliance if that is what there claiming on both the naked bike and the APS,
Naked for us does not include a sloped windscreen
and the APS bike around the front wheel looks to be different to the regs we run also
and then usually a record is not publicly claimed until ratification
They are getting very close to Eva's streamliner speeds , no small effort
-
Agree with Gregs comments above, also the tail section height appears to be questionable, the FIM rules state that it can be no higher than 150mm above the hard base of the seat, and in the naked class no more than 25mm below the hard base of the seat,,
The electric naked bikes appear to have a natural aero advantage with their slab sided motor units,,

I have been reading things on the web about this event.
The articles all seem to be VERY close to "press releases,"
and (whether deliberately or not) seem to be
very light on the sort of details we like to see.
Yes, this is supposed to be FIM stuff,
but it doesn't all make sense.
1) One could easily believe that the pictures
we are seeing are mostly promotional stuff that
may not have been the actual race bikes.
2) the 254mph is within reason, but as an "exit speed,"
not a final kilo or even a final 1/4 mile.
3) The bike appears ( there's that question of what
we are actually seeing again) to not have front brakes.
4) There are several of us here who have ridden bikes
at about those speeds, but it is hard to imaging going
through the ligths at 254, and being able to stop
comfortably in only 1.17 miles - with no room for error
-
FIM in their rules stipulate that any pending record has to be accompanied with the wording "Subject to FIM Ratification",, in "all" articles that I have read to date,(even the writeup on the FIM website), this wording is not included
-
On Google Earth the Chateauroux Airfield tarmac measures at approx. 2.4 miles,, place the timed mile in the centre and that gives approx. 3/4 of a mile to stop in :o
-
Pretty tough with NO front brake..................................
-
Lets not forget Bill Warner's 278mph and change in 2011 on his street bike on GASOLINE !!! in the MILE!!! Which is still the fastest almost 10 yrs later
-
LARRY "SPIDERMAN" McBRIDE at Valdosta tonight:
265.95mph and 5.678 in the 1/4 mile !
-
Suggested by Shane Stubbs:
JACK FROST of the UK,
ups his best speed up to
269.759 mph.
at the STRAIGHTLINER'S meeting, 22 AUG 21
over a distance of 2.00 kilometers.
Show him your support !
-
Max Biaggi, Roman Emperor and oft-thought rival to Valentino Rossi,
also of Italy, has established a electric 2-wheel speed record over 283mph
at the Space Shuttle landing strip at Cape Kennedy Space Center this week.
The info on the 283.182 mph Biaggi speed is
up on the FIM web site.
That would be good for 5th place on this list.
This officially makes Biaggi considerably FASTER
than Rossi on lists of official top speeds.
-
Fastest 1mile should be listed 296, I see another person listed twice!! It is a category left out and should be recognised. I mean show the guy some respect.

Dave Vantine 256.26mph drag bike 1/4 mile Maryland 2022
Moves up about 6 spots ...............
-
There are now:
15 people in the 260's
20 people in the 250's.
Who'd have thought that 20 years ago ...........
-
Available power seems to be less of a limitation these days, regardless of type of motorsport. Anyone can buy just about whatever they want if you can write a big enough check. I think power and traction management are where the challenges lie and things keep getting better and better. It really is amazing though.
