Has anyone used a 5 mil billet crank in a street/strip motor and had good results with it holding up? If so,what size motor did you build?
-
I'm sure someone has used this crank. Any info would be helpful. Thanks
-
Anyone?
-
I guess this is a guarded secret for the street racers. Lol
-
This forum is dying, they dont upgrade the mile results anymore or anything, guys are old and given up hope.
But yes, 1507cc engine is very streetable , just dont go crazy with the compression ratio.
-
Thanks for the. Information, Speedduck!
-
too much is it the compression? or High compression causes detonation which beats the bearings?
WAAYYYY back in the early busa days Stetson and DaveO built some stupid high CR 1507's with weld up cranks
But yeah new billet cranks, with respectable CR and not Stupid cams total blast on the street
I always wanted to try a 1507 with Stock cams and head up to 8k it would be like my V-Max :nutkick:

you ever build that 1397 motor with the turbo?
-
first 4 years turbo it was a 13.5-1 1397 that I spacer plated to 8.7-1
WAY more down low even with the OVERKILL HMP Head on it
then I wanted to turn it up more
AH that age old story of wanting more

I was wonderin… cause I thought u said u were takin the trip to DAS to the dyno... shipping is a pita though... I know/
-
3.2543mm, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 on the street not a problem problem. I just have to build it.

I built an 11mil.stroke 85mm bore offset turbo motor
-
That's the problem thlough…. u don't do much work these days do u?
-
Do you. Have to run a spacer plate with a billet 5 mil stroke crank?

Of course not, there are always multiple ways to build an engine...
-
Sportbikeryder, please do tell about the different build options.

The best possible option is to pay a reputable builder to build the engine. Steve Knecum pretty much can't be beat.
As for options other than using "spacers", most are more expensive, some ineffective..tall deck block, shorter connecting rods, altered compression distance on the piston., just let the piston smack into the head, etc...

Thanks, Sportbikeryder.

we have put a couple 68mm cranks in turbo street bikes with good results.
