I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and making some passes on one of the best-built bikes in the world, even if it's a yellow one
Fingers crossed that the meet happens.

Any pics of the bike ?

Dean will be using the old Guppy engine. Crank, head and cams are 11 years old but rods and pistons were replaced several years back. Whole new 1650 engine designed , just waiting for rods from Austria, should ship this week. LSL
-
What special is there in the rods ?
Has it been on the standing mile before ?
-
Bike ran 214.6 in mile last Fall. Steve was unable to make a clean run due to a faulty steering damper. For Dean this will seem like slow motion, he probably will read the newspaper during his run  having been about 270 there a decade ago. 1650 engine is 86x71 with new Ti rods 20% lighter while being considerably longer. Pistons and rings are state of the art with advanced camshaft design. Headwork is ongoing with one done another in progress. I am old and out of time, nothing was spared for this build. Chassis now has Ohlins forks with carbon wheel. Dean's engine is the old 1697. If we get it done the 1650 will be in an M chassis and will look similar without the wheels but with a custom made DME sidewinder to match that engine's characteristics. LSL

This is going to be great, i really like the fast n/a mile bikes, not too many out there.
Wild guess it would be somewhere around 230+, if the weather is not against.
-
Looking forward to see what you guys can get out of that build with all of the fancy parts and coatings Larry!
-
Good luck you guys and go fast.
I'm so bummed that with Mojave and Colorado gone there is nothing for us left coasters on pavement.
Post up some speeds.
BTW do the Ti rods "grow" bit more than steel? Inquiring minds!!!

Given the same cross sectional area, Ti rods will "stretch" more than steel. Stiffness of Ti is about 60% that of steel. Aluminum stiffness is about 30% that of steel.
