Not m/c tires but...

Had a sidewall bust open on my 02 Expedition, running stock OEM Goodyear, RT/S, 265/70/17.  Goodyear dealers in San Jose area wanted $189 OTD for a new one... after reholstering, I went home and started shopping around online.

These guys had it in-stock, $109, two-day FedEx for $15 and no tax!  So; $109+$15+$20 (to mount/balance)= sheeeit; I saved $65 on ONE tire.

Goodyear is starting to have tire issues like Firestone did.  A friend of mine has a Mazda and WHILR IT WAS PARKED the tire blew up!  Took out the headlight, buckled the fender, and split the fron fascia(lower bumper).  I saw it happen and it was freaky!

What do you base the comment "like Firestone did" on?  Not your friends event is it (what you describe is nothing like the national Firestone recall issue).  Is there someting else?

I'm lucky enough to have the Tire rack warehouse and main office in the town next to me (South Bend) And yes there prices can't be beat. Their warehouse is unbelievably big they also have a test track cool place.  (http://images/smiles/converted/thumb.gif)

I mean that they are having some issues with splitting.  Not only did the one tire blow up but just a few days prior the other 3 were peeling and the tech said this one was good and the next thing you know ---- they belts split on the inside...

Gotcha- thanks.

BTW- FedEx didn't get my tire here in the 2-day I paid for; so it came the next morning (10am) and TR credited the freight 100%!

So a local tire @ $189 I got for $109 (no tax, no freight) plus install of $15=$124 OTD.

My experience with Tire Rack was a set of 4 tires and Kosei racing rims for my 1980 RX-7 was good. They drop shipped them to the shop where I was having extensive work done rebuilding the car.
Good price, good balance job, on time delivery....
Much better wheel selection than anywhere around here too!!
