Just curious,
Anyone ever taken the counterbalancer out of a Busa motor completely? I remember on the big ZX's we took em out with no adverse side effects and it was worth a couple of pony's. Was wondering if anyone had any experiance with this or heard of this mod.

I was told if you remove it you have to weld or plug the hole in the balancer shaft to retain the oil pressure.

Had mine done
the shaft gets put back in with no balancer and Rick at Harrys plugs the oil feeds for it,Every bit of oil kept for the bearings the better

Oblivious, I'm currently in the process of removing the counterbalancer shaft from my bike also. Main reason is to reduce rotating inertia hence acceleration rate of engine will be marginally better plus of course there are marginal power gains to be had from the reduction in bearing friction, intermesh of gears, windage.
My concern is the magnitude of the "unbalanced "vibration.
The bike will be used primarily for track ride days and some street use.
Muzzy sell a replacement for the ZX12.!!
In regards to the oil supply , that definately needs to be addressed which I have yet to look at in detail and would interested if others have machined up a dummy replacement shaft which isn't driven.

Why go to the trouble of making a replacement shaft when 30 seconds with a tig welder to plug the one hole in the shaft will suffice?

be sure to seal it around the shaft or oil pressure loss can result

Thanks for the info, I take it that vibration hasn't been a concern for street and track use ? as once the hole is welded up there's no going back .
