Could anybody give me heads up or some info about putting extended swing-arm and chain on? I’m planning to put a new stretched arm and chain on my bike. How hard is this to do, I have dropped my bike on the front and rear with no problems, pretty easy. I know I will be needed tools to take swing arm off and to cut the chain and put it back on. I’m new to bike modification so I just needed some information if you guys have run in any problems, any special ways to do it.
Thank you.

Are you putting a whole new arm on or are you doing extensions??

I’m going with whole new arm and new chain. No extensions.

you are going to need a few specific things.
Long socket extension for the top socket mount
mallet and drift or the specific socket (28mm? )for the swingarm dowel
75lb torque wrench
preferably an impact gun for the bottom shock bolt and the dog bones.
other than that, its about a ~2 hour ordeal for a first timer.
rememebr if you are larger than average to have someone eyeball the chain adjustment as the chain will strecth once you sit on it as the pivot axis is changed. Consider adjusting your rear shock preload to harder while you have access to it as it will squat more with the longer arm.

Thanks for the info, my main problem is chain, cutting the old one and putting the new one on, do I need to do any of adjusting (centering) before you connect new one.

I think 3B covered it all, what also makes it a real easy job is one of those 119.00 craftsman motorcycle/ATV stands that you can strap your bike on. then you will be the guy who has it all

Things to keep in mind when installing a longer arm:
if over 6" you will need a rear shock upgrade...new spring, re-valve, stopper This will keep you from bottoming out, especially if you ride 2-up You can get this done at Trac Dynamics or NLR
You will need to add a longer brake line...goodridge makes a modular kit...basically the line screws into the banjo fittings no need to cut and crimp
the other stuff you are aware of..longer chain, fender clearance, etc.

Grind off one of the links . . .
Then link that to the new chain . . .
You can just pull the new chain on & the old one off . . .
