Sam Wheeler today backed up yesterdays run of 330 mph aboard the MR Turbo equipped MC Streamliner with a top speed today of 334 mph! !
The new outright MC record speed is now over 332mph !!
This reset's the record that was long held by the Easyrider's Streamliner piloted by Dave Campos.
That record was done with two old school HD Shovelhead engines and the record I believe was set in 1990 and was 322+ mph.
Way too go Sam !!
Congrats.

ZX11 Turbo ! ! !

I'm more impressed with 251.++ mph street bike. There, I said it. (doesn't mean i'm not impressed though).
-
The king of speed once again.
The Busa deserved that one.
Not a Busa...ZX-11 powered..

Throw a 500 HP turboed Busa engine in that streamliner and the new record would be shattered!
Come on Motorhead!! ... you always wanted to pilot an airplane fuselage on wheels, come on ... admit it. :D
-
dude i don't care if a zx-12 engine did it, i'm just so glad to see the one thing the Hardley Riders could boast about totally destroyed. :lol2: God bless the peeps who made it happen.

that's a bike??? very lame. i'm more impressed w/ the 251.1 mph real bike like the other guy said.
-
Amen too that ! !

That is a great accomplishment. Last time at the salt, I remember they were just trying to get a decent run from that thing. Give Terry Kizer credit for supporting some really fast efforts recently - Rich Yancy's bike too.

holy cow! that is insane...
-
thats to fast for me
-
geez lucky it doesnt have a Busa engine in it he might have had to change to 3rd gear  well done anyway
-
While first taking off or coming to a stop, how does the rider maintain balance? Are there other wheels that come out?
-
That's great!! I just wish they wouldn't call that thing a motorcycle.
-
Great Job
-
Awesome job. 334mph WOW!!!
Even though it is a streamliner, it is powered with a motorcycle engine and has 2 wheels therefore a totally enclosed motorcycle.
This is opposed to an open wheeled motorcycle where the rider is in full view and sitting upright (sort of) going 251mph+
Either way, I would give my left cajone to drive either one of them.
Guy
-
My GPS says 437mph on it. It was that way after I (think) I put the batteriesd in backwards.
-
if it wasn't for the rule changes to motorcycle racing in the 50's regarding fairings, we would probably all be riding in a streamlined motorcycle...
-

   Doesn't look like a motorcycle to me
-
A significant accomplishment as a result of huge effort.
Congratulations.
Anybody know how the rudder is controlled?
Is it a trim tab or is it actively connected to the steering?
Seems to me that it would affect countersteering in a big way.
-
   Thats Crazy Fast!
Definitely Kawasaki, look at the winglets! :P :P :P
-
Who cares who did it ... until somebody does better , Wheeler , Kiser , and the rest of the crew get a big :thumb: from me .
Maybe that record can be bested ... So , why wasn't it ?
CUDO'S !!!
-
Personally, I think the term "motorcycle" and "bike" needs to be re-defined.
I also thought I was gonna read about or see a street bike doing insane speeds!!!

...Throw a 500 HP turboed Busa engine in that streamliner and the new record would be shattered!...
500 HP Busa engine probably wouldn't go much, if any faster. While Many may not remember, Terry Kizer put up almost 500 HP numerous times in the mid to late 90's with a zx-11 powerplant. Back then the motors may not have been able to stand up to a top speed run, and if my memory serves me correctly, he cracked a wastegate or header one year while on the dyno, but still, he made almost 500 ponies with zx-11 technology like 6 years ago. He has been making HUGE power for many years more than most any other players have even been in the turbo game. There may be better systems available now, but no one has been around and pioneered as much as Terry Kizer, as the record shows. :moped: :thumb:
-
I thought that when Terry made the 499 hp that was with Nitrous and turbo..
John.
PS. either way he is doing great..
J
-
Did I hear the worlds fastest is a Kawasaki?????
-
i have VIDEO of a streamliner, just like that one, from last years racing laying around here, let me see if i can find it.
-
Probably you won't find it as I think I shot that video AAMAF
Or maybe I used your camera?

That is correct. :thumb: On a side note, are you allowed to run nitrous on a fuel bike for land speed, using the nitrous as "fuel"??

now if his kits could only reflect his experience rather than contradict it

So, what does the rudder do and how is it controlled?
-
So, what does the rudder do and how is it controlled?
I'm not sure , but at crazy speeds like 332+ mph , I hope they don't go to full deflection
My guess is it helps during low speed steering and/or to help get it upright off of the skids .
-
I'm thinking it is there to aid countersteering.
Countersteering works by steering the contact patch out from under the bike's center of gravity causing the bike to lean over and turn.
On a bike with such a long wheelbase this process must be pretty slow.
The rudder could help tip the bike and cause it to turn.
Sure would take a bunch of experimentation to get this right.
All that is just theory.
Maybe also helps in crosswinds?
-
How about cause everything fast has wings????
I am sure the verticle is for stability and the other part for low speeds like said above....
But I have been wrong before...
-
I don't think that bike is going to do much leaning over or turning at 300+ MPH. I believe it is to steer with much like a plane, but I am just simple folk! :D

Bill Warner did 311.94 mph on an open cockpit Busa.
May he rest in peace...
BTW it's on YouTube
