man what fun..
trying to find a place for this monster..
looks good, I think i will try this spot...
tacking the hdr together to get clearances setup, not many choices for 4" inlet K&N filters huge..
Rad's just stuffed in there, it actually sets about 3/4" down further..
Looks a little low to me and as few others, might have to use a scavenger pump, or redo the hdr again...
now tying the hdr together, filling & getting it sorted out..
and finally this is where I stopped for the night, lastnight..
Feedback welcome, more progress soon.
MIG, it's whats for dinner @ my house... I wished I had the cash to spend on a built hdr, or taking it to the shop as planned after tacking..
But you know, I gotta stick to my Motto in my sig...
-
good luck brotha, if you need anything give me a buzz
-
rgr bro
I had to redo the hdr again tonight, brought it up another 1", maxed out the height, the drain is a WHOLE lot better now.
more pics later, tired.. :P
==========UPDATED===================
Here's the new pics from lastnights fun...

ok done with the turbo mounting, and gate placement./. yea I know it's out there..
try mounting a 50mm gate,
and see where you can put it & have 2 fans.. LOL..
I have to finish fabing the bracket for the new 2nd fan, since my other ate poop last yr..
finishing the fueling tommorrow, cranking hopefully..
I don't think I will have any oil drainage issues, as previously thought..
-
One thing I just noticed... do you have a 45 degree fitting on the bottom of the turbo or do you have the center section clocked towards the rear? If it's clocked to the rear you need to do something to get it clocked more to the verticle or you might have smoking due to poor drainage.

bad ass setup man! Very impressive! What are you doing for a fuel setup? Secondaries or what?
-
Running factory Injectors & RR, till I get the money to upgrade my plenum to h20 & secondaries..
The Gates 50mm, the BOV is 50mm, pulled the gate spring, mixed 50/50 C16 & Premium, road 5 miles low speed to bike night.
Mapping is @ the Cheese factory Next month.
The Map I have is nowheres close to my turbos setup/ability.
Thanks for the Compliments Fellows, I got a ton of them tonight also.

Was definately a blast to feel what I had been drooling over for the last 4 yrs, hooked now.
Hope to get her Dyno'd before the end of the year, just to know where she is on power.
Wife's medical/health problems, have put everything on hold.
So it might be awhile before any charts, etc.
Peace,
Ron

Charts wacko, will be redyno'd soon.
tire hop on the start, an lil slippage up top..as Dennis mentioned he did not hold it to redlne, he was scared he was gonna hurt it..
af was lean, but found the issue :P

Hell yeah!
What "Bigger and Better's" are ya doing to it?
welp it was a stocker just shy of 50k when it took a poop.
spit #4 rod bearing, lucky nothing else was hurt :thumb:
8 wets valves (need valve stem guides)
ruined the crank
cams had some flaking on 1 lobe, so I bought a set to replace them.
here's what's in my boxes right now, waiting to be molested.
New crank
Carrillo H-Beam Rods
JE Turbo Pistons w/big pins
Billet Shift Shafts
MCXpress Mech Sump (to run FULL OIL)
Dennis's 1/2" monster bolts
.090 spacer
Cometic Head gskt (w/ 1/2" holes)
New cams
Carpenter HD Valve Springs
Santo's one off Billet Sprocket Carrier (bad mofo)
New hot side for the turbo, for testing purposes.. :vl:
50mm BOV still in the box
Piggy back Controller waiting on me to pay for it..
Will probably go h20/air, w/2ndaries if the standalone on large injectors doesn't pan out.
Body work is leaving for painters as soon as replacement cowl gets here this wk.
Wheels and frame are more then likely being done translucent blue (p/c)
Want to have arm modded 0-4, but unsure yet.
I cannot do didly to the motor till I find my manual, or get one on CD from someone-
looked for it today, and of course it is not in my CD case.
Will manage I am sure, always do.
Peace,
Ron

Have you found someone to do the valve guides?
-
Have you found someone to do the valve guides?
No not yet, haven't had time-
Just got the go ahead from the Mrs to get it running or bury it in the back yard.
I have the referral's from Dallas, from my post last month, just haven't followed through yet.
Why you have someone "Capable" in mind?
RK
-
I don't know him personally but I've heard good things about Scott at Cyclewerkz in White Settlement.
He fixed a buddy of mines ZX-11 a couple of years ago and treated him fair.
You might try him.
-
Plastics are ready for the painters :thumb:
Front cowl arrived today-
Pics soon as parts are painted :vl:
--edit--
Started locating all the internals and stuff today........
Still need to find my MH 1/2" Big Bolts, & Carp HD V-Springs...

I finally found a GOOD crank.... :?
Should be here in about 4 wks or so..maybe 6.
Then I will have to order another set of bearings etc etc etc/ You guys know the drill.
Re-injured my back (remember my wreck in 02?) so things are a little on the slow side at this moment.
Making damn sure to nurse it back slowly and stuff.
Body work is being messaged on, preppin' for paint @ the Lexus Dealership.
Just waiting for the money tree to bud again  :thumb: :vl:

Good looking color!
How's progress coming?
-
Slow Progress on the rebuild, due to the recent storms (service Electrician) :thumb:
Leaving Monday, for a trip around Texas doing Surveys and such for upcoming work.
Picked up the new Perfect crank (finally,,, is th 3rd one)....
Ordering bearings asap, then see where I am when they get here (oil clearance checks etc etc).
Hoping to have it all back together this year.... :?
Tank and inners are being finished in next week or two..
Then has to be installed for the color sand buff etc etc..
Slowly but surely, it is coming alive again.
:vl:
-
uh oh
-
The storms have been bad this year. Make all the money you can!
-
Hmm that badass color looks familiar!
-
Hmm that badass color looks familiar!
Hey MOVE that shit on down the road  :thumb:
-
Just asking? Why three diffrent cranks? Bearing problems?
-
Yes, out of tolerance- had some .002 the most you want is .0016 on your crank running boost.
So I have been told, Tighter side of the specs on the Crank, looser side of spec on the rods.
Crank bearings will be here next wk/
In the mean time enjoy another pic...

Thanks! Have you had to do any transmission mods on your bike undercut ect.? My 05' with stage one just ate 2nd gear. Going to break down my first busa motor. By the way very nice build, bike looks sweet.

No, probably going to up the shift forks to the newer style '03 up (supposed to be better more durable) and replace the 2nd gear set.
I have billet shift shafts.
I am not a hard core drag racer, nor does my busa put out 600+ hp, so I am worried about a billet HD output shaft.
Leaving the Tranny upgrades (back cut etc, till this comming winter when I pull the bottom end apart to check bearings.
-
Time for some body shots-
Tranny parts are being handled, then assembly of the motor starts next wknd I hope :thumb:

Old man winter done came and gone twice since I broke this thing - he ain't catching me laying down this time. :thumb:
-
How much HP aaaaand stock wheel base!?!
-
that looks like a bucket load of fun :thumb:
-
hey Jerry!
Was 238hp with wheel hop on 6psi in 2005, graph's on page 1 or 2 I think..
I just know me an T ran in North Carolina, him on a Velo St 2, me on my home brew-
We took off around 70 mph, mine stood up, and T's eyes were like :bah: through his helmet.. :thumb:
Snoop was behind us on his St 1 Velo 6psi, and he got drug and left for dead by both of us.
We were neck and neck through 203 mph, was a great feeling 8)
Anyways, hoping to coax around 320 hp from her at about 10-12 psi ? possibly tad bit more dunno/
This T61/T4 was setup to support 575 hp, my fueling is setup for around 350 hp, damn controller and stuff have not arrived yet, and I am out of time for the Tx Mile.
I was impressed at just how well the turbo does flow for the size really (setup really well).
Thanks for stopping by
Ron

Took her to the Dyno last Sat, broke her in good, then attempted to make a pull to get a reading on my MAP/
She wouldn't go over 7k oil was being slung outta the comp housing, the MCXpress Sump wasn't doing the job with the -4 feed I switched too.
I came home and over the wknd found the original -3 feed, redid the lines and the pump seemed to be able to handle the oil flow now (wasn't a gusher like before) weird because it has a .090 restrictor per Turbonetics techs...
Anyways swapped out to the Stock injectors last night, shit wasn't right, even tried unplugging my PC, wasnt the problem, buddy suggested because they setup for 2 yrs probably stuck or clogged, so I tapped on #2 the one not working, and viola working again.
Took her off the lift and said fuk it,and RODE THAT BIOTCH@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAMN I MISSSSSSEDDDDD BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSt!
Don't have any??????????
DAMN YOU REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY NEED TO GET SUM........

-
Cool! Are you gonna try to make it beck to the dyno?
-
Yes, but not this wknd too many commitments already- like RIDING!
Might be going to our Gun range too dunno yet...
BTW the C16 we got was old.... :x
They did that to me once before- gotta watch Bates when you get it from them, learned that in 2005
Did ya notice my avatar changed from the Broken Boost Gauge ? to the now BOOOOSTed one? :thumb:
-
How do you tell if C-16 is old?
Yeah, nice avatar! BOOOOOST! :trb:
-
Many different ways, simplest of all- smell, or lack of intensity of it for one.
1) I noticed when I was pouring it into my tank at the dyno- didn't burn my eyes or nose.
&
2) The smell or lack of it out my exhaust dump...
As it ages and the drum is opened and opened and it is allowed exposure the the elements like theirs is, it will loose oct rating.
Anyways I will show you the difference soon-
FRESH C16 will burn your eyes and nose, even the exhaust out the dump will do it, it is VERY distinct when being burnt-
-
Yeah, that makes since.
Fuckin Bates.
-
Hey butt head answer your phone someday-
I rode the busa 3 days this wk already...
you got my cell-
Ron :thumb:
-
Get that thing on a dyno already Ron. I want to see what it'll do! :thumb:

hehe I will soon I promise :thumb:
Working my rear off and lovin it, prob gonna be a weird winter, not sure if we will slow down at all this yr.
Will get it Dyno'd before xmas maybe :P :?:
-

what kind of horse you think ya got with 6 psi?
-
what kind of horse you think ya got with 6 psi?
I was putting out 250 hp w/6psi using the large frame turbo because of the air flow on Stock CR/
Now I have no idea to be honest, because of the JE turbo pistons and lowered comp, prob around 210-220?
I am trying to be conservative :P
-
(http://www.busafied.com/197.jpg)
Daaaauuuum! :D

Have you put the secondaries on yet?

Bike looks great! Picking up my bike this afternoon. Had the RCC stage one with full pipe, ported head, new top end, smithabusa gear indicator, RCC billet case saver, RCC stainless throttle blades, and a few other things done.
-
Have you put the secondaries on yet?
yes awhile ago I think it was November
That's the main reason I am redoing my lines, replaced the OEM rail with he billet one in the pics above, redoing wiring to the Microtech, doing a little bit hear and there, no rush-

Looking good Ron! For Chrissakes, clean those damn wheels! BTW some chrome wheels would really set that paint off well.....I mean I know you are a man of bling and all.....LOL  :thumb:

LMAO!
I know man, I clean the damn things, they get dirty after one ride..sheesh... :thumb:
The secondaries are badass 8)
yes stock Injectors and runs like stock (of course slightly down on power) but I run 19/40 gearing...so it is normal to me.
Some of the crappy steady state surging, hoping it was my un-insulated pump mounted to the frame near the motor- possibly vapor issues...
Matt sent me a Map for a PC2 that smooth it out he said , 2000 models obviously we have some slight mapping issues / differences compared to the newer ECU's...
I have not tried it yet honestly doing too many things right now to it..
I have it torn apart in my office right now-
1) added the 06 flash to pass controls (using for 2nd stage of boost since I run HID).
2) Rebuilding my Clutch Slave cyl, parts should be here tomorrow..
3) Installing my Raptor Shift Light
4) installed my Billet Oil Blockoffs- but debating on mounting my Laminova Oil Cooler
6) looking to Mod my MCXpress Mech Sump Pump...
7) Installed the new undertail
8 ) Cleaning up all the wires in the nose section, and around the complete bike
9) Remounting my gauges
10) Trying to find some Glycerine to refill my Boost Gauge, found the cause of the leak fitting in the back vibrated loose.
11) Installing a PMR Tether Kill Switch
and some other shit I cannot remember right now....

I flipped the shaft 180* , now I can rotate the pump tight to the cover :thumb:
Probably replacing the lines in a few wks, they seem to be "wet" around the spiral seam it seams to have, it is weird really....

It was a surprise to me, really don't know what to think man...
It is still at my friend's house I am still too pissed to mess with it right now.
I did however go by my brothers and pickup my KRL650 this Sunday.
Time for some off-road & possibly some motard action for a little while....

Will be awhile before it is on the bike, it is not a priority right now-
it logs internally I believe, or maybe to a laptop via the serial - will update it probably jan next year after these holidays.....

Just been doin the do bro. Haven't seen you on here in a while so I thought I'd investigate.
How's life treating ya? Is the bike running or work in progress? I finally got mine all together and am trying to square away the MAP so it's more cruising rpm friendly.
-
Bike runs/boosts fine -
never was the issue, it is the MCXpress Mech Sump setup never has worked right...
debating on buying the Pimp pump or having Richard redo my setup...
Will pull the trigger in the next few wks one way or the other.
Once the bike's back in my sight, it will motivateme plenty  :thumb:
GL on your map woes-
I am sure I have some Gremlins who've have made camp on mine, time will tell-
Peace,

You put that beast back on the work bench yet Ron? Hope you get the oiling issues corrected.
-
Nah been too busy with life etc.
-
well well wellllllll
Let's breath some life back into this mess shall we???????????? :bah:
After much debate and thinking and him hawing etc etc..
I purchased a Cycle-tech electric scavenge pump since I had not been able to get my MCXPump taken care of.
I Gutted the MCX Pump Housing and cut the suction line to the Catch can mounted to the bottom of the turbo, and installed the tiny electric pump.\
Through my OWN error the pump couldn't keep up, I resolved that today and made several "on the lift" tests.
It will take a thorough over the road test to make sure it is capable of the volume of oil the Turbonetics flows with the .060 restrictors.
Per my conversation with the Install tech & Turbo Engineer via 3 way, they have to run no smaller then a .060 for lubricating.
I will Void my warranty if I chose to run the smaller restrictors..
So points made problem is being handled, here's a short video of the initial test, need to post the mew one from today showing results from fast idle to holding at 5 k for extended period of time.
Pump was apparently keeping up today on the motorcycle Lift-
BUT a road test will need to be done to be absolutely sure.

Here's the test from today once I figured it out and made the necessary changes:

Hey Ron! GLad to hear from ya. You've been as much of a stranger as I have! Good luck. :tu:
-
Ron,
I have the same set-up that you do and mine always worked fine. I recently put a high volume oil gear in it and now I have oil seeping into my catch can breather line and it dumps oil out of it. I used to run the breather line to the top of my cases and it was fine. I extended it to the throttle bodies and it still leaks. Now I've extended it to the top of the plenum and when I get out of work I'm going to see if it leaks again.
Here's my question:
Did you put a restricter in the oil feed to the turbo? If you did what size did you go with?
Do you have the high volume gear or valve in your motor?
Any other suggestions for me?
Jason

Jason you and Jake both worked with me a few years ago when the problem first started with mine.
Originally I ran it back to the sprocket cover area then up around the back of the motor on left side to the front of the motor, for months I had no issue what so ever.
Then out of the blue it started puking on a ride, had to cut it short and head home.
I ran it to the breather per Jake and had it "T"d off it to the front of my plenum, just made it worse.
You tried to help me, but that didn't work either.
I had determined that running it backwards let it lay too low and the trickling oil splatter inside would eventually pool in the low spot of the vent line causing it to build up and puke.
SO- I rerouted it to the front and up.
With the hose running from the front of my MCX catch can (on turbo) behind the rad zip tied to my up pipe to above my motor then facing forward is how I have it today.
I had it laying on the ground and it would still trickle even with everything fixed so to speak.
so I know going straight up was optimal, in assisting gravity and hoping that would keep the oil down low where it belongs. I dunno just keeping fingers crossed till I can road test it.
**YES on Restricter, per Turbonetics I am required to run a .060 no less or it voids my warranty.
I have 2 actually inline now.
I was told by my friend that sold it to me (builds exotics in Fl, Supras, Lambos, Ferraris < etc) DO NOT cut the flow down further then the .060 like they recommend.
1 AT the turbo inlet, 1 AT the Line side tap at the motor, both .060
**NO on the HV oil gear running standard internal (oiling wise.)
** Pull your cover on the MCX pump and check the gears, found mine to be boogered, something made it from the engine through the turbo and into my pump.
My shaft is tweaked and the gears have a nick, wished I could find SOMEWHERE TO GET THEM !!!!! HINT SOMEONE!!!
anyway- sorry just bent a little still after no one responding from the appropriate company's...
** ALSO I recommend if you have no nicks in your gears to get a inline filter to put ahead of the pump as a precaution, yes I know it's another pain in the wazoo to have to check it but I have tried for 2 yrs to get MCXPress and Richard at RCC to help me get another pump, NOTHING- NADDA- ZIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
here's the one I recommend or find one similar from one of the vendors on the board, good luck on that....
part numbers and pricing is at bottom of page.
http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/oilsystems.htm
Sub Micron filer for inlet of pump :
03-1046 Sub Micron Oil Filter on the pump's inlet port.
I was also looking at a pressure limiting inline pc from same people :
We also can supply a 1/4" female NPT, 25 psi viton seal check valve (03-1047) for high pressure oil feed lines on Garrett GT series ball bearing turbos to drop oil line pressure 25 psi.
also they have this, I had though about putting it on my vent line facing where incoming air (suction from pump) pulls it open , but closes when oil starts to come back out vent tube..
A 1/8 NPT, 1 psi viton seal check valve (03-1039) is available for the turbo oil feed port. This prevents capillary bleed-down of oil in the engine from entering the turbo after engine shutdown.
So for now with what you have though..
Only suggestion is to run the line from the front of the catch can forward and straight up following the uppipe and securing it to there.
Then test to see if that helped, use something to catch the oil though because it can puke and make a mess.
I made that see through catch can out of a "self tapper container" from home depot (needed screws).
Just used some flared pipe (2 - pcs) and jb welded it into the lid, 1 to fit the vent line onto, and 1 to vent to atmosphere.
It was a cheap solution (free because I had the container on the shelf and flare tool and some brake line laying around)) to let me view my oil prob and find the source, I did that in 2007/2008 and it worked then still using it today for tests, comes in handy when bleeding brakes too LOL.

Thanks Ron. :tu: I talked to a rep from Borg Warner today who told me that it's hard to determine if the turbo needs a restrictor or not. The only real way to determine that is by putting a pressure gauge on it and making sure it has 35-60 PSI. I'm guessing since I've got the HV pump that put mine over the edge and it's backing up into the breather line.
In a week or so I'm going to set-up a pressure gauge and check everything out. The guy from Borg Warner gave me instructions on how to do it so I'm confident I'll be able to take care of it on my own. I have a feeling mine is going to need a restrictor. Well see!

Sweet if you care to share this and give me some insight I will listen.
I need to make a similar setup and test mine, to just see what is going on down there.
Let me know what you find as well on your pressure readings, and which restricter gets you the needed drop to <60 psi
I am guessing a .060 just guessing.
I have a spare gauge somewhere and a "T" fitting I can put inline
after the first restricter and after the second need be.
