I'll even go as far to elaborate on the above statement. the bike that went those #'s , there is a picture of it on here! these bikes are purpose built, and different racing is for different people. Some like 9/10's, some like turbo, some like N02, and some with all the money like All Motor. i know what it cost to build an all motor bike, I used to build them but I'll be honest with you, unless you are independently wealthy you better go N02 or Turbo. I have seen one of these all motor bikes go DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPP in the sevens.
What most aren't telling you is there are now custom 90mm blocks, 10.5 mm stroker cranks, slider clutches, and 4,5,6 speed auto transmissions,and the bikes only weigh around 400 pounds.
Now if you ask me, Trae (AIRTIME MOTORSPORTS) has the nicest bike in the Grudge Field. it's always well taken care of, all carbon fiber, 68 inches with a street tire, and I'll even overstep my boundaries a little and tell you that his bike is in the 7's. I won't tell you how deep in the 7's only a few "G's" will give you that information.

Jeff Nordeen went 7.22 at the last Rock race and is now the quickest Busa in the books. Bary still holds the MPH record at over 202 in Outlaw trim.
I've been high 7.80s on motor with a 1540CC busa. No auto trans or mixed fuels. I figure with an auto and some steroid fuel it would go 7.60s. I can duplicate that motor for $7,000 including labor. The crazy thing is that the newest grudge bikes have almost 7K in just crank, rods and bearings...can anyone say COSWORTH...

If you weigh 180 or less, you can go 8.60s on motor for just about $4,000. If you have a clean bottom end that does not need bearings, you will have about $3,800 in a motor build. Use the extra 200 for minor mods. It's alway nice to have nice wheels and bearings, but I still think 8.60s is doable with stock wheels...

If it's E, then his stock motor setup goes 8.90's and will do 9.0's all day on cold at night when the track has less traction :wink:
Last time I spoke with E was at he Rock and he claimed 200-205lbs.

Yes it is Ernest. I haven't seen him since this summer, but he said he weighed 195. Danny has told me time & time again Ernest's Busa weighs 465. If you know Ernest, you know he runs 8.60s and 8.70s like most people run their fingers thru their hair.
Point is ...... not hard to go 8s with a 1397, need a little weight loss from bike, need a little wb, if you pull 1.43s on stock wb more power to you, I guess.

Yes it is Ernest. I haven't seen him since this summer, but he said he weighed 195. Danny has told me time & time again Ernest's Busa weighs 465. If you know Ernest, you know he runs 8.60s and 8.70s like most people run their fingers thru their hair.
Point is ...... not hard to go 8s with a 1397, need a little weight loss from bike, need a little wb, if you pull 1.43s on stock wb more power to you, I guess.

Anyone watch ESPN last weekend? I went to a poker night at a buddies house last night and there was multiple people asking me about a 6.9XX @ over 200mph streetable turbo hayabusa. I told them I was not aware of any such bike. I do not see anything on this forum about it either. They said the bike was blue and the rider was a black guy. I did a search on espn site but the last report about motorcycle racing on there is Matt Hines winning the NHRA title in early November.

I think he has run over 275 miles per hour top speed and 6.67" in the quarter on his weekend grocery getter, it has a Shandy Turbo with a 2.7mm inlet and a progressive weight distribution setup that allows full throttle launches (weight in front) and as he runs down the track the weight slides to the back so he has the best traction available. Prostar and NHRA will no longer allow it. :wink:
