Title: Best motor mod
Post by: Treysbusa on December 16, 2005, 08:54:54 PM
What is the best and most powerfull motor mod for the buck. Not nitrous or turbo. I dynoed 181 rwhp with no motor mods but want more. Should I go with the intake cam on the exhaust side or go with a complete different set of cams. If so what cams should I use?

if he made 180 hp stock no motor mods (that means the fairings have never been taken off the bike)I wanna see that dyno sheet. Please post that dyno sheet and your list of non motor mods....

I see a motor mod he did in the avitar, you have to take the exhaust off the motor to get a sidewinder on don't you ,he must use NC Crack Fuel  in his tank.....

Ok I could not get it to scan good but here it is. What I mean by no motor mods is that I havent changed anything in the motor other than clutches.(http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d34/Treysbusa/dynosheet.jpg)

I also have short stack on the throttle body, airbox mod and pair valve blockoff plates. The guy that dynoed it at Cooper said he could do some head work and the exhaust cam change and get 220

no way in hell

mine made 174 with a full pipe,pc3custom map,filter and intake cams.no way a stock busa will hit 180hp.however a 12r will.
go dyno it on a dynojet and see what happens.dynos are different.no offense, man.but 220? :hellno:

his busa will prolly make 165 on dynojet.gonna be emarassing.

it was funny when i dynoed 160bonestock wich is pretty strong for a busa.there was that honda cbr 900 fag who told me:hey i tought busas were stronger then that.i told him that i was all happy with 160.and asked him what hes expecting out of his dumb cbr.he explained me as following:the 900cbr makes 145hp stock.but he gutted the can  made some home made airfiltershit
and played with the carb settings.he told me hes expecting 160with those mods.and therefore his bike should be faster cuz its lighter :roll:he was so clueless he tought a busa has like 160hp at the crank.

HE DYNOED AWHOOPING 110RWHP :lmao:

went the shit out of there witou saying a word.i bet he still thinks theres something wrong with the dyno.what an utter ricerhead-faggot :duh:

that longass swingarm and 18ohp should be enough to go 5.99 with a hella rider.

you should trap like 150 in the quater.

you ran a 6.0 with a zx9.so you know thats a bit a stupid question.depends on gearing, rider and other things.
but if youve ran a stock motored 9r to 6.0 then you should hit 5.99 on the busa

The definition of a stock motor = untouched, no bolt-ons, stock exhaust, no pcIII, Stock motor = NOTHING done to it! Why is that so hard for people to understand??? I just love the way people think. :bigfu:

Stock motor means exactly that STOCK MOTOR. My busa is not stock it has some bolt-ons, it has been touched. The inside of the engine is STOCK.It has not been touched. But is does have a pipe, pc, short stacks so I guess in ur eyes it may even be a pro mod.

there are alot of opinions.i hate the stock clutch setup.but never tried a cable on a busa.they work great on the 1000.

Its just that your first post was alittle misleading thats all. I am in the same situation you are in. I have not touched the interior of my motor at all but, I have added just about every bolt-on, and (less weight) aftermarket part there is to put on the bike. It has made a tremendous amount of difference to the performance of the bike.
I appologize for the rude reply to your post but, it just seems that there are alot of riders out there that are either afraid or ashamed to admit what all they have had done to their bikes. Experienced riders can simply read / listen to said dyno numbers and know for a fact that there has been something done to the bike, thats all. I didn't mean to hijack your post so....Good Luck with the info you are trying to find out about.

Cooper is good people but 180 is high for a stock motor ( and to me that is defined as a motor without valve cover off regardsless of exhaust, air box ) IMO the best motor mod is Pipe, 1397 kit in that order.

A stock motored bike is one that is just like it left Suzuki.A Stock internal, lightly modded bike is just that, not stock.I will say as a matter of fact the first oil change you do the bike is no longer stock.call a spade a spade and there won't be any misconceptions.

 I give. But ur saying any bike with 1500 miles on it that has been maintained properly is not stock  I am going to call cooper and see if he knows if the bikes motor has been in to.

if you have done more than changed the oil or any fluids it's no longer stock.anything done to add any type of performance makes it no longer stock, even adding 93 octane gas as they are spec'd to 87 octane.

I talked to Jeff at Cooper Performance today and he said that my bike did dyno 181.2 rwhp but he did have mr9 in it.Is that sound better. He said that mr9 will add 10 hp. I do know that the dyno he has has a ram air on it.

if everything adds up mr9,new,oiled chain all short stacks,a new overinflated tire and the a/f leaned out to the max, then it could happen.the busas strenght is tq all over the place anyway.ive seen k5gixxers with airfilter, can(not full pipe)and tune dyno 180rwhp.try to race that one from a roll.
man,go turboand the dyno will show great numbers every day off the week

highest ive seen from a stock busa was 165.lowest was 143in summer heat.

Mine dyno'd at 183.3 hp with 111.1 rwt on a "stock internal" motor, and on spray it dyno'd at 261.2 with 170.9 rwt. Now...the only thing on my bike that is stock from the factory are the handgrips on the handlebars!  Also, my motor has not been broken into as of yet. It is equipted with the same internal parts that it came from Suzuki with.

That dyno is a known "happy" dyno.  And light weight wheels as sm2w said "show" HP on the Dyno.  What is your body weight unsuited and what were your MPH's in the 1/8th and the 1/4 on all motor?

Stock motor INTERNALLY with your mods, a mid 130 sixty ft and u will see low 5.70's at 124-25. That is if u weigh If u weigh 170 or less suited. I know and have slips to prove it. Now if you don't have 180-85 with mr9 u won't see it...close though

So, from all the - feedback i see I should have about 161 rwhp on pump gas.10 for mr9 and 10 for high reading dyno. If all is true I got a piece of junk. The dyno is a cyberdyn superflow dyno.

Superflow's read about 8-10 hp higher than DJ's on an average.  And your bike internally stock didn't get 10rwhp from MR9 but i am willing to bet on a DJ with MR9 you would make about 170-172..  But it is only my gues and i am FAR from an expert...

You bike certainly isn't junk at all and probably does run very well...

My cams have not been touched if those are the ones in question, my stacks are short now...how short, I have no idea. I can measure them if that will make any of you happy? Happy dyno or sad dyno, I know what my numbers are at the track. I am not considered fat, old, slow or whatever else the reasons are for someone not to be posting good times at the track.
Please post some of your track times on here and we will see if they are considered good for the work that you have had or haven't had done to your bike.  :bigfu:

I'm not grouchy at all, I was actually sitting here with my brother and wife laughing at the possible responses that the post would get. Its all good Nuke....I am planning on being at those events for the extra seat time for sure. I am a firm believer that it don't matter how many ponies your pushin', how good the bike dyno's.......it don't make you a good rider. I would like to think that I am a "better than average" rider on a "faster than average" bike which eventually will result in some "better than average" times.
Nuke, I don't think we have ever had the opportunity to ever run beside each other before have we? If not, I am lookin forward to being out there with ya!

It's not a challenge.  I go to tracks and race.  Many times i win and many i lose but it's never a challenge.  My life is busier than most as i am gone about 3 out of every 6 weeks on aircraft carriers.

Were are you at.  I am trying to do some traveling this year to do stuff.  May even try to make the LONG drive to Goliad this fall....

Trey...I am in Jax, Fl. also.
I have been to Albany, Ga. thats my home town! I will make a 4 hour trip to do some running with ya!!!! I'll run beside ya whenever ya want. I am going to do some traveling this year also to run on some different tracks and trya and meet more people from the boards. The last 2 times that I have ran in Albany, the tracks was not prep'd very well and was having a hard time hooking up.
I am definately going to hit Valdosta, Gainesville, Bradenton, and more of the surrounding tracks this year.
I am also messing around with the idea of organizing a "motorcycle" only track day. I have just got to find out what all is involved.

Why you always a bitch?  Word on the street is your dyno reads high.  Don't get mad at me - i didn't start the word.  I never claimed to be an expert.

Because i can't what?  Remember - you made 178 / 103 on mine with degree'd cams and NO PC.  So mine would have made about 182 on your dyno with 2 intake cams and a PC...

PS - you DO NOT get 31 RWHP from a Pipe, Marvics, Box Mod and PC.

You can do better than that...

Not sure what MPH i will pull now - finally got it tuned and it feels much better now on the street.
It feels good considering a ZX12R you guys built with an 80 shot only out MPH's me by 14mph and it also feels goo since the 260rwhp Busa you recently built only out MPH's me by the same.  Hell you built a wet shot Busa last year that only MPH'ed 154 consistently and after many, many issues you realized that with the bottle upside down in the hump the syphon tube was screwing up the N2O delivery.

I've already been mad about my issues and how i felt you didn't handle them properly.  It is good to see you on here though as people read this all the time and when i see them they say "damn that Ryan really is an arrogant prick".

No matter - it doesn't concern me one way or the other.  Seems like you are the one who is stupid since you get all worked up over my opinion.

I know yo have built bikes that run good and i know that you are a good rider - it still doesn't mean you are the man and certainly doesn't mean your shop is the best.  Come to grips with that and you'll be okay.  You obviously are getting good business so why don't you worry about that and not me.

I will continue to voice my opinion, just as you will.  I will also continue to ride and try to improve my times and mph's with tuning and combo experiments.

I have a low paying government job so i can only afford so much at a time and have to make do as i can...

Well when you go over 160 in the 1/4 then you can sey its not fast but 14mph in the 1/4 is an ass woopin and by the way that 12R is only a 1260cc and 11:1 compression the rider is 220 with out gear so that is inpressive. Rays bike there was problems with it wet systems suck no more problems with any of our dry shots and if you would have talked to like a man face to face about your so called problems that you said you did (BUT DID NOT) I would have made it write we stand behind all of our work but the minute you started talking shit you burned the bridge and if you didnt talk shit you and I would be on good turms it would be stupid for me to do business that way all of my work comes from word of mouth, and Iam honest and fare untill you cross the line(then Iam done doing work for you ) witch you chose to do.Its funny all the people that we both know and go fast around here we do the work on there bikes is it because I  ripe them off no I dont think so.

I know the 1260 "pro lite" balanced assembly well.  John used to run 148 consistently on it and last time i raced Kevin on it i beat him 2 times despite his better 60'.

Then next time out it had spray...

I called your shop 1 time and i spoke with you about it 1 time as well.  It's no biggie as that no longer matters.

Here is the motor you are talking about...

MTC ProLight 1260, Falicon SuperCrank (with Zhooligan on it  ), R&D NO2-Modded Tranny Cryo-ed, Carrillo Rods, No Balancer (all 4-cylinders bal. within .2 grams  ),
Oversized Valves...
This motor has LOW Compression...close to stock...
200.8 HP 106.9FtLbs...

And BTW i never said you guys don't stand behind your stuff - i like Kevin very much as he is always enthusiastic to talk to ANYONE about cycles and racing and is a very upstanding person.

Stock compression on a 12R is 12.1 - Johns is closer to that than 11.1

Nope but I would love to set up something with your boy for $$ and not for fun when I get it back from Tracy and the 12 is at 11 to 1 the piston pockets where machined to deep from MTC and the compression was 11 to1 insted of 15 to 1 with chamber work and like I said you never called and talked to me befor I would have made it rite end of story.I will ask Kevin for sure about the compression but it was way lower than it was supose to be way lower.

You should have thought of that befor you opened your mouth you challenged me and I accepted. Do you even have a lockup clutch because your clutch cover doesnt look modified for it and how much power does it put out(if you want to tell) but trust me you dont want any part of my turbo bike(when completed). By the way I like your bike its nice

I am sure we will run into each other this coming year as I plan on doing alot of traveling to the different tracks, and don't want to run into anyone that I have offended and get jumped by angry board members.  Its all in having alittle bit of fun thats all.

The reason i didn't get a liter bike is i would have tried to start drag racing it as well.  That is why i like my SV1000S...

The only reason I got it was for street riding. I have already been told by the wife.....no drag racing it at all! Plus, I have way too much into the busa to continue to use it as a street bike full time. I had to get something else to putt around on. Thats all, low end torque was not even an issue at the time of purchase. I have plenty of that in the garage. 8)

Wanna take that R1 to Jennings sometime?  I Like the low end of the SV but it is real slow after 120.  But it is fun...
