Title: Fatsest 1000 ever 7.90 @ 180
Post by: WICKSBUSA on December 21, 2005, 07:17:21 AM: Mikey Slowe just took Johnny Turbo's velocity equiped 04 1000 and went 7.90 at 180. That thing hauls ass. Mikey said with some more seat time the bike will go 70's. Great job all involved.

With todays technology I don't see where running 7s on a 1000 would be an issue. Lee Sheirts was rumored to have gone a 7 second pass on his bike testing somewhere, as where I saw the bike go an 8.02 or something. Let's see the numbers in competition. By all means not taking anything from Mike Slowe's accomplishment, though. Great job!!!

I understand that the bike had no bars but I bet his 60ft was a low 1.30 something or maybe even a 1.20 something. Without taking anything away from Mr. Slowe's ability and riding skill, it is a great number by all means. I just know that though it was a different setup a smaller cc engine has been quicker and faster. I wouldn't call a mickey a DOT tire either, it's just a dressed up slick built for the job at hand. Mr Slowe could put up a number on a big wheel from what I've seen. Not saying that it was easy at all but I think many would agree that it would be done sooner than later and that there are other bikes and setups that will be doing it this upcoming season. The technology availabe now leaves little to the imagination these days. Setup is the key to it all. Horsepower hasn't been a problem for many racers as of late. When NLR is making 700+hp you should know that it is all about setup because there is more hp than one can utilize out there. :lol:

A 1K powered dragbike can't go a 6.99 or better? :? I wasn't referring to stock 1K motor with turbo strapped to it. How much HP you suppose a 1K can make? Sure it's less than a busa but the 1K is much lighter. I'm talking out my ass anyway. I have no basis for my claim, only assumptions :wink:

You have a 1397 with about 200hp and alot more tourqe then me and you are going to spray so say about 240hp. I have a 988cc 1000 with 200hp on spray and not much torque.

I would only be spraying a 28 shot (2-#18 nozzles) and i am only at 195rwhp.

My bad runs right now are 9.40's - hoping for 9.10 on motor on Jan 14th or 15th and if so i am looking at a ported head and/or N2O.

My money would be on Slowe but I will be silently cheering for the motor nos bike to win if they both get clean passes. I am a sucker for the underdog and love too see when turbos get whooped up :D No offense to turbos(Mav)

Not too much Chad what's up. Too bad you guys won't be able to be here on the 15th. The weather wasn't the best the last time but everybody was here. I have not seen Swerve's bike in action but there sure has been a lot of talking going on 8)

I think they are going to need all they can get against that turbo. They probably would have been better off to just show up and issue the challenge. Now you have warned them and they (I am sure) are going all out now with that turbo 8)

No one will beleive it but it has gone a 7 something pass with a 40 shot sometime back. He has a good chance of winning depending on if his jock can get it done. The guy has a machine that is very capable of getting the job done. Mike Slowe is the man and a proven champion but never under estimate your opponent. He will try it because he does have a real chance at winning. Remember the first streetbike to go a 7 was on NOS and whether people beleive it or not the first 1000 to go a 7 was on NOS! :shock:

A very dedicated and genuine person. Swerve cannot win switching from one jockey to the next. A rider needs passes down the track to make setup and tuning adjustments too get the most out of the machine they are riding. I am very doubtful anyone will beat Mike on the hope of one good pass with a rider who doesn't have many laps on that bike.

That is true if Mikey makes a clean run and Swerve still outruns him 8). This is definitely a good way to make a name for yourself but bad if you're trying to get anymore races :? Either way best of luck to both of them. I am sure Lee will step up and run him again also

Valid point Mav, but either way he definitely has guts to step up and issue this challenge. I still say you should walk softly but carry a big stick 8)

IMO I would have asked for the break against that turbo and if you get away you come back and run him heads up. At least if you get away the first time you are gambling with their money on the second race :P BEG BEG and BEG some more LOL

If the Ganns set this bike up like Blake usually does the turbo will have a much bigger job than first thought. Should be a good race. Better than what many would probably have imagined. I still do not agree in changing riders, though.

I weigh almos 200 - i would bet Swerve is almost 225 or so... They had a midget on his bike - Shawn Gann? Those bikes fly!!!

Just an uneducated guess. The were quick but the turbo bike was the one that looked fast. I don't think it went 7's but maybe - it's pretty had to tell sometimes with cycles.

The race was a great one with Swerve running his all motor bike aginst the turbo equipped bike and losing by a very small margin. All there say that if the NOS worked he would have won. Henson stated that Slowe won by 3 tenths, but I doubt that from those I have spoken with. Kudos to all for keeping our competitive spirit alive during the off season.

I seen that Serve 1000 run on Sunday, very impressive with a nos system that wasn't performing to it's best and a new rider. I didn't get to see the gruge match between Mikey Slowe and Gann's but I was informed that Mickey got the nos 1000 with the gixxer 1000 turbo on Sunday. You guys say racing is about setup, I really would like to see what the nos 1000 would do with a turbo 1000 if everything is flawless as far as performance. according to the spectators, the nos 1000 lost by one bike, that shows me that if the system was working like a Mona Lisa, then it really would have a dam good race to witness. MAD PROPS!!!! to both of the riders for their performance in Bradenton, you can rest assure there were people all over the track to see that one. I don't know if I'll ever go to Bradenton agin the wait is alittel to much for me driving from JVille and then only get in two runs, but that track is the stuff in my book. Well you riders in Bradenton keep the need for speed and ride with no fear.

It been stated before the He sprays it all the time, but this time it dont work? Most well tuned nitrous bikes with riders of that caliber will out 60' and even out 1/8 a turbo. So why wouldnt he say he would run all motor to the 1/8? And i don think its out of the question to think that there might have been another bottle there somewhere anyhow. So Swerve pulls "the bottle", they race to the 1/8, Gann wins, and Swerve gets all the glory for running on nuts....or so we think.....Fucked if i know!!! just wondering if anyone else thought the same thing, still wish i was there.

dude thats not even barrys bike. he wasnt involved with bike at all from what i understand. its Johhnys bike that he built and tuned that has a velocity kit on it. i dont beliieve its a factory supported velocity bike. u can say what u like about barry, but i dont think he has a whole lot to do with this particular bike. dont be hatin on johnnys bike with Mikey riding cuz u dont care for barry.

Im not, I got nothin against Johnny or Mikey,,, but readin physco bikes post Barry talks shit like he had somthing to do with it in some twisted way but then again he twist every fuckin thing that comes outta his little mouth.I respect Mikey and Johnny.I cant help they have dealings with an idiot.Good race tho for sure. :smokin: :thumb:

It ran a good number faster than you think. If you think there is another turbo 1000 that would like the shot at it. Get it them.
