Title: Power commanders
Post by: Sir T-Rex on March 29, 2006, 03:27:26 AM
I have done some research on this board and haven't found anything about this topic. What is the difference between the PC3 USB and the PC3R? Both are listed as being compatible with the later model Busa's. I know the USB is a little less expensive, but which one is the better model for the Busa?

The R has the ability to adjust ignition timing.  With the USB you have to buy a seperate ignition module to do that. The USB has some other add ons where as the R doesnt.  The R is going to be discontinued.

USB is the way to go,lots more add ons for it .......and will soon have the option to download and store a few maps for switching
Maps on the fly .  Atleast, that's what I've been told.

Also the R used the serial port, and usb use the usb port. But usb is better because of the add on's that you able to put on them. And very easy to loan maps. Go with the power commander USB III

USB MAKES IT EASIER ON THE MOTOR ON THE DYNO. SWITCHED FROM PC11 AND THE A/F IS MORE STRAIGHT LINE

I put a PCIIIR  on my '02 and set one of the maps that's already in there. And well honestly the thing falls on it's face at about 8,500 rpm and that's not good. I'm from Corpus and nobody around here has a moto dyno which I think is a must when you want to tune your machine right, the closest one is in san antonio ( 2 hr drive). I need to find out where these maps come from and where there at as far as sea level goes. I've been battling with this thing and it really sucks. Anyone knows of a place to get more maps just to try out instead of investing another $150 for dyno time and the cost of traveling 4 hrs. round trip.

One of the most important features of going to the PC III USB is double the fuel/air setting/sampling points. Quasar touched on this but I thought it warranted a little more notice.

Stock and up to PC IIIr was mapped every 500 RPM.

PC III USB maps every 250 RPM - Twice the number of measurements and adjustments throughout your RPM.

It smoothed things out big time on my bike.
