first...a little history...
i got the bike new in 01 and instantly did a few minor mods:
XX mirrors
dual HMF hi's
PAIR removal
full box mod
painted inners
Motek undertail
reaper risers
3-hole dogbones
lighter bar ends
clear turn lenses
clear double bubble
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/busa-side.jpg)
that lasted about a year, and then i dumped her in a gravel driveway (never ride with a dislocated hip, kids). so then she got:
new paint job
a polish job
Magical Carbon mirrors
Gilles Rearsets
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/polishedexhaust1.jpg)
that lasted about another 2 years...then:
stage 1 GHETTOFIED w/blow off
TMH case saver
fully adjustable lowering links
Magical carbon fiber shield
Carbon front fender
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/bike2-1.jpg)
That lasted 1 year....and now we are up to currant time. The bike is under a major overhaul right now. its an ever evolving process...but after doing alot of looking around and research ive compiled a huge pile of parts...and still waiting on some more. so, here is the list of things under the knife right now
Ultra turbo kit (water-air IC, t-61 turbo, full pipe, and all the internal treats)
Full carbon fiber body work (with custom paint to be done by Rob Kelly)
Catalyst carbon inners
Ohlin forks
Ohlin rear shock
Ohlin steering damper
BST carbon wheels
Speigler 8-piston front calipers, rotors, lines
Speigler radial master cylinders for front brake and clutch
AP racing dual circuit/4 piston rear caliper w/ custom hanger
Speigler rear rotor
AIM MXL full digital dash
AMS-1000
custom aluminum dash
THM triple trees and bars (hard anodized black)
Woodcraft stator cover
im sure thing will be added or changed along the way...but, to date, dennis has the bike and its damn near done...

i should get it back by the end of the week 6-23 (hopefully)

carbon inners...

dash mounting
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1010737.jpg)
ive got the paint job worked out...i have silver carbon body work...and its gonna get a candy over top of the carbon in some places and have the raw carbon in others. think "AC Cobra". the sides will have a BIG logo that i designed for this project. ive got a graphic design degree...i guess its good i use that useless diploma for fuckin something. lol!
it kinda mocks turbo veins but incorperates a spiders body to tie in the bikes name "The Poison Idea"
-
LOOKING GOOD!!!! :D
-
very cool, now finish it up and post some pics/track times
-
lol...i dunno about track times. im a pussy when it comes to the 1/4. i prefer top speed stuff.

that a flower lol Looks good :D
-
rob, you an i need to talk paint...im waiting on one last body piece and it will be ready for you.
-
Nice
couple things:
CF front fender: Catalyst?
dash mount: mounting the AMS1000, what else? Thinkin about gettin 1, but bigbore kit. no AMS. So I'm thinkin of digital tach w/ air/fuel ratio.
just need to know who makes it?
nice list too
-
it had a black catalyst from fender on it, now it will have an OP sivlver carbon fender on it.
in the dash im mounting the AMS and the MXL digital dash. Indystreetracer made it....and i know he can do custom ones as well. look him up in the site sponcers section.

check your pms :D
-
i got the pics....and thats PERFECT!!! i mean...exactly!
-
You sell or selling the carbon front fender?
-
ya, i sold it a few months back.
-
did some switching around of rear braking components this week. i got a Speigler rear rotor to match the fronts, and i had got the bracket for my 4 piston rear caliper machined out.
still dont have the bike in hand yet. wheels should be here tomorrow or weds, so with ANY luck ill have it by the end of the week....*fingers crossed*
-
Thought you were bringing those wheels to the shop? Its running now and due for the dyno first thing in the morning. We got you a "Turd Net" (patent pending) for your first ride!

About time  Let 'er rip :D
-
wheels are locked and loaded now! big brakes are on the front, and the turbo work is done.
damn i cant wait to ride it. hell, im even excited to try out the Turd Net (patent pending)!!
-
i posted these in another thread....but i figured id drop them here as well.
I got the bike back from MOTORHEADs and W...O...W! unreal...the bike is smooth, quiet, strong, and runs like a raped ape. the bike still has an aluminum sprocket on it, so i have to be real careful not to get too crazy on it. Hopefully, ill have some steel sporckets on it by next week.
Im gonna give the bike a massive bath and clean up...try and tidy up some misc wiring and install my carbon inners.

ive still got a pile fo stuff for it:
MXL dash
AMS-1000 (on its way)
custom aluminum dash
Ohlins forks
Ohlins shock (on its way)
Ohlins damper (need to sort out mounting)
Tobin Seat (need to send out)
full CF body work
im also going to get a ton of stuff powercoated, anodized, and Ceramic coated....but i just wanna ride right now, so until the snow falls or we get a really rainy week...im just gonna ride!!!
-
UPDATE-
ive done a few things here and there on the bike...nothing real major. i got my Ohlins shock installed and i LOVE it...major improvement. i also dove into the OEM radiator plumbing. ive always hated how it looked peeking thru the fairings...and i have an overall dislike for hoseclamps. so, 2 trips to Summit racing to get the parts, and a trip to my local fab shop and that OEM radiator is looking much better ;)
radiator with a fresh coat of black, tabs moved around to proper mount 2 fans, and 2 -16 AN fittings installed.

im going to finish swapping over to all -AN Aeroquip fittings this week, and i hope to have the oil pan off so i can get an -AN bung welded in it also. im also in the process of getting my boost control all dialed in. Dennis gave me a rteal basic set-up cause we knew i was going to do something more elaborate down the road.
-
I saw that in the other post
I really like that setup!!!!!!
??on the temp sensor relocator does that mount up w/o any mods??
I've only seen it in pics
if u don't mind me askin
how much for that right there?
-
the temp sensor relocator is a super simple mod:
-cut the rad hose
-hose clamp in the relocator
-unscrew temp sensor from radiator and plug hole with provided plug (altho i had mine flattened, welded shut, and smoothed)
-lenghten wires for sensor about 24"
-screw temp sensor in relocator.
i have about $100 in fittings and weld-in bungs and a $30 Outback lunch bill and bar tab (the welder said he'd do the work in exchange for a good lunch...lol)
a bit extreme? ya....but wait till u see what im doing for vac/boost lines...
-
SWEET SETUP.......
-
well, its been a bit since i updated this post...had some personal/family stuff going on, and i also had a lot of parts out getting various things done (and still do)
-ive got my new pump mounting figured out, and ive got the quick disconnect dry-break fittings to mate up to a modded NLR fuel plate. I had it modded to still use an OEM fuel pump bracket. ill have pics of that once its back from the machinist.
pump mounting-
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1010880.jpg)
-8 AN and -6 AN dry breaks for supply and return lines to the tank
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1010905.jpg)
-Ive got all the pumbing redone on the bike...made a few changes, ill snap some pics when the bike is back together more
things im still waiting on:
-exhaust and header to come back from ceramic coating
-Custom exhaust can from HMF
-oil pan, up pipe, radiator, ultra plenum, and ultra heat exchanger are getting a heat dissipating coating
once i get that stuff back, ill have a huge update with tons of pics.
-
how low is it front and back? i love those bst wheels..... :thumb:
-
front it 1" down...back is about the same...maybe a tad higher.
-
:thumb:
-
here is somemore pics of some parts, mods, and other little bits i have been working on.
here is the billet bottomed Davis pump from NLR....very VERY sweet piece.
tucks in out of the way really nice and looks like a million bucks
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1010868.jpg)
i was going to use these adapter to run all -AN fitting for boost lines, but i have since found weld on 4-AN nipples....so, minor changes needed here
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1010871.jpg)
this pic still looks a mess cause i was test fitting boost stuff (which is all gone now in favor of AMS1000), but it shows the aux fuse block i added for all the non-OEM add-ons. its a nice inexpensive piece of mind. im going to add a second battery and upgraded stator for some added juice!

Andersson Boost Compensated Lock-up...mmmmm

yep, its stilling here in the box. MCBUSA is going to help me install that and the AMS1000 in early Jan.
-
cool :D just keep posting pics. and keep us updated :thumb:
-
here is a couple pics of the new Rizoma rearsets on...just for a quick test fit. im going to hunt down a nicer rear master and get the frame raked before i keep em on for good.
sooo sexy...

Very Nice :thumb:

That some kind of new "Slider Blue Rag" Clutch?
-
Its a Boner Exclusive Shop-towel Compensated Lock-em-up. good up to 800hp. patent pending
-
i can't leave SHIT alone for very long. i dunno why, ive always been like this. Just about eveything i own i have modded, tweeked, changed, painted...something.
The exhaust that came on the Utra kit i got from dennis was fine. big pipe, cf can, fit good, looked good...but eveyone with a full exhaust on a turbo has one almost identical. so i called Hans at HMF and dropped the bike off...
2 1/2" pipe onto 2-2" pipes with shorted CF cans and billet machined endcaps.
i picked up a Vibrant V-band interlocking clamp to join up the pipes. i know the old slip joints work fine, but this is quick release, seamless internally so it wont add turbulance, and just trick as hell imo. sure, not cheap...but all the fun stuff isnt.
a nice smooth bend from the outlet so ensure good flow. Hans is an amazing fabricator.
from the back
(http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a307/bonedust213/P1011001.jpg)
and im leaving at 4am to drive to Macintosh for a frame raking. im going to stay and take pics during the process so i can show everyone whats involved in doing it!
-
Ya, Hans is no joke! He not only an amazing welder, but the guy is just full of good ideas and design suggestions.
-
so, i made the 4 hr drive at 4am this morning down to McIntosh Machine to get my frame raked. As soon as the bike was out of the trailer, Terry started tearing into it.
500+hp unicycle anyone?
now, i have the UTMOST confidence in Terry's abilities, but still, its unsettling to watch a sawzal blade sink thru the neck of your bike.
with the new Billet neck tacked in (Terry asked that i not show his locating rig...trade secrets!)
and the finished product. complete with all OEM mounting locations and new steering stops.
Mac has given me 2 fantastic experiences so far. They are super nice people and do top notch work. :thumb:
Next up on the chopping block is some custom bracketry to finally get all my fuel system organized properly...and then SUSPENSION!
-
no that's some good welding... :D :thumb: what made you decide to rake it?
-
Sweet pics!! Awsome job!! :thumb:

M.SHANK spoke really highly of just how much the 3 deg rake increased high speed stability. if i had to ship the frame cross country, i probably wouldnt have done it, but since McIntosh is in driving distance, i went for it.
