This one is for Kurt,
The LED's I have in here can be red, blue, or green depending on how I wire it up. Kurt chose green for gear indicator and blue for the shift light.
Adjustable from 500-12,000 RPM in 100 RPM increments.
In the garage video so you can see it better

Longer version (about 10 meg)
www.boostbysmith.com/Videos/kurts1.wmv
Short Version of the video, just a couple of gears (about 2 meg)

This setup could also be used to trigger your air shifter for autoshift if you like. There is a switched ground when the shift RPM is reached, this could easily be ran through a relay and used to shift the bike instead of hitting the horn button.

WTF
you're doing shift lites now too :!:
you're sick
looks bad ass :thumb:
good job
LOL, thanks Nem!
Just figured I could integrate it into the box, sounded like a fun project, this one is Kurt's, sounds like i may have interest for a few more so we'll see LOL.

Yeah something I learned is that all LEd's have to be clocked in the same rotation if that makes sense, didn't realize this, have to turn them so they all are rotated at the same angle. With 3 colors in them they look different if you turn the LOL.
Yep I can wire a GPS sensor to activate whatever you want, boost control, NOS, timing retard box etc.
You could also use this shif tlight setup for an autoshift. Just run the outlet of the RPM activated switch box to your air shifter and let it shift itself.
I can wire a sensor tp provide 6 ground outputs (1 for each gear) for $40. I have to wire in a full time TRE mod, or any gear you wish, but only 1 going back to the ECM. 6.8K for 5th gear is what I have done most as, done some 3rd gear ones also for MH, ghetto King etc.

Thanks guys, I think it's kinda neat. Might have to make one for the wife's and my bike and sell my raptor light and old indicator etc.

That is lookin sweet Greg :thumb:

Once I get this from you do you want my old shiftlight(for the internals of it)

Hmm, will have to look at it, assuming it works the same we could do that.

Glad to see the idea is working out well :)!
how do you set shift points? seems like yours set at 7.5K ?

You set the shift points by using dip switchs, then pushing a button. He had his set that low just for the video :D

It was like midnight out and dark as hell, didn't want to draw too much attention to myself.
Setting the shift light activation is very easy. :D

take a vid during day light, i want to see how it looks at day time :D

Order one up and see :D
Daytime doesn't exist except on the weekend LOL. Was almost dark at 5:00 PM today.
Looks like this during the day (the blue one I made first).

Atoyf, per your request, 50 mph on the rear stand LOL.
Haven't had a chance to clock all the LEDs in the same rotational direction so they look completely uniform, but here it is.

That's really cool. Do you think you will try adding a face plate with numbers for each gear like suggested in the other thread? That would be nice for night riding.

Not in the immediate future, but willing to look at it. You can always stagger the colors to help that out.
Run 6th gear a different color, or run something like
1 Green
2 Blue
3 Green
4 Blue
5 Green
6 Blue
Shift Light - Red
Something like that would make it easier if you ride at night a lot.
-
Oh yeah, forgot to mention that this could also be used to work as an autoshift if you have an air shifter. The switched ground that comes on when shift RPM is reached could easily be ran through a relay and then used to shift the air / co2 shifter at the preset shift light RPM.

Thats awesome. :thumb: I'm very interested in gear indicater with shift light and hooking it
up for autoshift. I'll contact you soon.

Smith, this is a neat concept, and honestly I had this idea ages ago (but no bike that I wanted to chop up, and no money to attempt it!)
However, I kept going, and here's the idea I came up with.
Now that you're using multicolor lights for shift and gear position, wouldn't it be interesting to use them for other things, in other places?
My thinking was to replace the guage lights on some black/white guages, with 3color LED's, and then have them change color under whatever circumstances. For example, the whole dash would flash blue at shiftpoint, red if oil pressure under <x>, and would be normally green. Or whatever. Couldn't figure out how to get a LOT of colors, but with some work I'm sure it's possible... i.e., green dash lights turn amber when the nitrous is armed, etc...
I was thinking of applications other than bikes, too, but it'd depend a lot on how the instruments are lit on whatever you're working on at the time. It should be possible to feed fiber optic lines to replace surfacemounted LED's, and have a common area to pick up for source, but that'd be probably terribly involved and customized.
-
Yikes that sounds like a lot of work LOL.
Just thought of something else though, if you used 2 RPM switches (they are small, 2 would probably fit in the same enclosure I have now) you coudl use 1 for shift light, and use the other for launch light.
You could set say Kurts up with green as gear position, blue as shift light, and red as launch light. Launch light would have to be powered through the clutch switch so that it will only work with the clutch pulled in.

Sounds like I have some wiring to do in the near future
-
Bee-yoo-tee-ful!!
-
Here is the RPM switch.
it has 2 push buttons, push button 1 sets numberof cylinders, push button 2 sets the shift RPM 500-12000 RPM in 100 RPM increments using the supplied table for dip switch setting, very very easy to do. The LED flashes back your settings so you can check settings without revving the bike to the moon.

I can do a core cahrge if you like, I think i have 1 or 2 more spare sensors at the moment. As long as you could return your stock one to me in a timely manner I will refund 100% of the $35 core charge :D

I like the harlan rpm switch.
that is sweet.

Oh yeah, smithabusa,
where is the gear position sensor on the busa?

right fairing
clutch cover
pressure plate
Clutch basket
then the sensor
about a 20-30 minute job, not bad at all

Going to clean up some of my wiring, but have all winter to do that
maybe get another gauge panel from Tiger Racing so I can put the toggle switch's how I want them. Sent back my AutoMeter gauges that's why they aren't in the panel

that one has been sold sorry. The launch / shfit light will work on your bike if it has a clutch switch, if it doesn't we can just wire that signal to ground and the launch light with window will always be active, or run it to a toggle and just shut it off when riding on the street.
