Ok I've been thinking about installing a turbo over the winter or going 1390 or both.
Please tell me what upkeep or problems you may have with the TURBO motor for those that have one.
Does anyone have both 1390cc and the turbo setup wonder what the benefits would be versus the disadvantage.
Need to do something getting bored with the stock motor.
Oh and I will be using this bike for both street riding and at the strip. (http://images/smiles/converted/kickass.gif) (http://images/smiles/converted/beerchug.gif)

Keep your stock motor and just turbo it
-
if you plan on going to turbo pistons then i believe that 2mm over or 1363 cc is the biggest bore out there from either j&e or mtc. running
a spacer .080" plate & turbo pistons is truly the
way to go . you get alot better quality piston to hold up to the boost . also a cometic head gasket is the only choice to. just my opion.
-
I believe that is what motorhead runs, try asking him.

(http://images/smiles/icon_eek.gif) Dam!
I thought I read that someone on this board had a 1390 motor with a turbo installed.

MotorHead are you out there, your input would be great. (http://images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif)

Building one now,not much help to you...sorry
-
Well for the best streetablity I'd say a stock motor is great.
Also 300+ hp is easily obtained with a stock motor as well. I mylself did 8,000 miles on a completly stock motor last year. Only thing done was a spacer plate under the block.
I'd just turbo what you've got, maybe throw in some pistons. And when and if you get bored with that, then do a 1390 later.
But really it's all in what you want to do. If you want to make big hp, do pistons, rods, springs, and a new cam chain
-
i run and have built 6 or 7 1390 turbos this year
much faster spooling
alot more off boost grunt
more hp per # of boost
-
Now thats what I want to hear.
What kind of turbo do you recommend MotorHead, Oh and I don't want to rake my frame.
What typ of HP would I be looking at without making it an all race bike only.
-
what turbo requires raking?
only 1390 motors that will work with a turbo are prepped by me
my motors are the strongest busa motors on the planet
bar none
-
Going 1390 does not leave very much head gasket between cyclinders, not a good thing!
Hey but what do I know? just my opinion!
-
there's plenty if prepped properly
real question is what is enough gasket
-
I thought the MCexpress did (Raking)
-
IF YOU PLAN ON LOWERING THE FRONT END FOR DRAGRACING YOU WILL NEED TO RAKE THE FRAME. UNLESS YOU GO WITH A INTERCOOLER THAT IS BUILT INTO YOUR PLENUM!! (CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG MOTORHEAD) (http://images/smiles/converted/beerchug.gif)
-
Motorhead are The 1390 pistons turbo specific, or are they the ones you use on the normally aspirated motors? Thanks.
All the way.
