1 bottle for spray and shifter
« on: February 01, 2007, 07:07:34 PM »
I am making a few changes with my nitrous and co2 shifter, trying to keep it simple and light.

Here is thought i just had.

Mount my 2 or 2.5 lb bottle on the arm,a # 4, T right into the bottle. the right side would go to the nitrous solinoid, that is to the right side of the shock, just behind the motor. And the left side would go to the regulater / solinoid, that i think i could mount to the left of the shock, above the chain (or possibly under the fuel tank) either location would shorten line length a bunch, from what i have now. Braided line from the solinoid to the shift cyl. also.  What do you think ?

Sounds like a plan Tee to N20 selenoid, other end to Regualted Air selenoid via -2 SS line.
Shorter line=less kill time..... :thumb:

just ordered a swivel  T so bottle swaps will be a snap,i think he gave it to me at cost

i don't have enough room for a weld on bracket (not enough w/b) i will drill tap (5/16 24) 2 of the bolt on brackets

To be honest, ive got everything but the HP fitting CO2 fitting to N20 bottle....to get it buttoned up .
Matt has a HP fitting that would be used directly to bottle ,then Hp/lp reg.

I got he Hp regulator from Doug 3000psi  http://www.spencercycle.com/product_p/sp-2900.htm

High/Low Pressure regulator would mount directly to bottle,Low side for shifter, then out of High pressure side of regulator, usually where HP gauge would go..... you would attach line going to N20 selenoid.

What i'm trying to get across is..... have the  HP CO2 Reg. mounted directly to 2/2.5lb'er instead of using a Tee.

HP side ....(normally,where the HP gauge would go) of CO2 Reg..... to N2o selenoid.
LP side to... air selenoid.

But the pictured fitting would be needed first ....to mount CO2 reg. onto n20 bottle.......

i don't see why the tee off the bottle wouldn't work as well   :?

Not saying it won't work.
Just another option.

If you are using the shifter just for racing I don't think you would notice a difference unless you have a
small bottle.

Not at all,the shifter uses very little gas. A 1 lb. co2 bottle would last me a couple of months.
i think i was over paying for c02 at 4.00 a lb. but it was local and convienient

I did some light testing of the new setup, earlier this week. I just wanted to try out all the things i changed. So far so good.

I rode it like i had just gotten out of court a few hours before....SLOWLY !!

Waiting on the m/h undertail, and a few other things in the works. Sorry about all the reflections.

I had the bike out saturday and sunday. Stepped it up a little bit,2.5 lb bottle,.040 jet,17-42 gear. Along with some very good air !
The first 2 hits from 2nd went perfect. On the third try it broke the tire loose at 10 k in 3rd gear  (just churned it)

On sunday i dropped the t/p 3 lb's and went i click softer on the compression damping. Filled the tank, and wacked it at 7500 in 3rd,it hooked and ripped. A few miles later i tried it in 2nd and ended up a little sideways

I ordered a couple of ultra soft's this morning....

I installed the m/h undertail and int. kit, lots of tire clearance now.
