The track is definitely the safer place to test your skills and I agree that the set-up can make a "world of difference". I have a TRACK PROJECT that will be "testing" this week. Can you say 62"/5.60s   ALL MOTOR !!!
I told you guys that '04 would bring some surprises.  Any Takers $$$ ?

Naw Sir,ALL MOTOR,   A TOY for my son. I need to keep him "off the streets" and I think that this will do it. It's been in the making for some time now but after some preliminary testing I'm comfident that low 60s aren't going to be a problem. I guess a chip off the ole man !!!
FORTIES WITH GAS !!!

He won't be taking over,he'll just be a participant. A lot of work has to be done to keep the attitude in CHECK! Being too cocky is a dangerous thing.
I hate to have to "bench" him before the season starts good.

i love the track but have yet to go with the busa and only raced my vmax 6 runs  totally stock and didnt know how to really launch it good and got a best of 11.30 at 119. 1/4 not 1/8mi. e.t. my busa is a '02. its got the full akro ti system, pc3,k&n, just installed lowering links for the rear, and front tie down strap. i want to run it in nj's raceway park on the last wed and fri of april (28 & 30). ive got some plans for a 4-5k launch in 1st slipping the clutch to get it to nearly 10k then hitting 2nd and 3rd flat out.
any of you with experience launching the 'bus can give me any tips would be well apreciated. i have done no mods to the clutch and would like a rough estimate from those with similar setups as to what she'd run.

Silva, the bike Kadar will be riding is built, lowered, lightened and stretched.
Plus he's 135~140,I already know what the outcome will be. Totally out of my league. Black Betty IS READY !

Ripinitup,I don't know your weight, but try to concentrate on leaving with less RPM and getting the clutch released earlier. The 'Busa has a "lot" of bottom end torque. Also what gearing are you running, along with your weight?  Stock arm or stretched? So many different factors to deal with.

im about 225 lbs and the bike has the stock swing arm   its not stretched. i also have the stock gearing. what rpm do you suggest i leave at? also what rpm do you suggest i shift it at? you think i might need 4th to complete the run? im also running the stock  bt56 tires that i just put on the bike.ill probably lower the rear tire pressure to 32 pounds and keep the front at 42. ive also heard or read in magazines that if say i hit third gear after the 1/2 track i might want to arch my back and come off the seat more as it could lead to higher mile per hour. true or not im not sure. i think for the reasons of turbulance. launching this thing with the front limited with the strap is new to me so well have to see how it goes. i took off work this friday and might try to get it to the track if not it will wait till the end of the month. thanks for any help or suggestions

Ripnitup,at 225 lbs. you definitely need some gearing changes. The cheapest way is going to a 16T on the front ( gives you a little more wheelbase also). If you're running the 1/8th then you should be going through close to the top of 3rd. You need to try to get your bike as low as you can and soften your shock for weight transfer. Strap it,lower it and run it. Don't expect good results with the 17/40 gearing and your weight. Practice, practice, practice!

i live in new jersey where most tracks run the 1/4 not the 1/8mi.
be fore i race it i will have a new titanium chain installed so i might just go with the 16tooth front sprocket. can i change it back to 17 if im unhappy with the mis calibrated speedo w/o going with the yellow box, without changing the chain to a longer one? ill probably be guarenteed two timeshots on it. so ill run eliminations to get a few more passes. i wont brake before the thousand foot so i can dial off that time  compared to the time shots if need be. ill leave on the third yellow expecting low .500 lites, 500 being perfect (i/2 a sec from last yellow) thanks for your interest

1/4 mile run you should be at the top of fourth. I would definitely go with the 16T or 42/43T rear if you're going with a new chain,I like going up on the rear better.
