I know here on the east coast you have to be running 7's on big motor fully dressed busas about 66-68" long if you plan to grudge race, anything less you will get your money taken quick.

well thats what I hear but starting not to believe it..  I know the cut up grudge busa's are deep in the 7's...  just read somewhere about a msp (fully dressed) Busa going 40's on motor at 64'' and seemed to impresse lots of folks.

Yeah but MSP doesn't have the fastest all motor busas either. I know Trea (Airtime motorsports) has got to have a couple of fully dressed busas that will go 7's all day. Everyone knows that most of the big dog grudge 1000's are running low 8's and some might even slip into the 7's every once in a while, so what do you think those big 1500cc+ busas are doing?

Oh and people was impressed by those times because they never get to see what a grudge bike runs.

You also have to take in everything you see and piece everything togther like a big puzzle. Look at it like this you say all those people are impressed by MSP running 8.40's on a 64" motor bike, what do you think those people would have thought when Ed Murphy went an 8.60 on Spaz's stock wheelbase 1397 busa (Virus)? I think Spaz's bike could have went very low 8's at 64" and it was only a 1397.

Hey I'm a nobody in the drag racing world also  I'm just lucky to know a few people that I can get inside info from. You might be right Virus could very well have a crank in it, I was just told it was a very high comp. 1397. Most of the grudge 1000's are around 66" and like you said they are light but they still will not race most grudge busas around here.

2 years ago my buddy had a watercooled outlaw bike at the Rock doing some testing and it was running 7.80's -- 7.90's all day and it was posted on the board every pass and we had more than one offer on a heads up race with a couple fully dressed 68" busas that we turned down. We knew they saw our times so they had to be faster and we were not going to be anyones fool.  :)

Hell most 1397's running 220rwhp at 64" with Rickey Gadsen type drivers only run 8.60's on motor.  Look how much RWHP it takes the SST bikes at Prostar to run 8.20's - takes 280rwhp or more with some guys cutting 1.36 60' times on 64" bikes at full weight.

When my Busa was a 1397 it ran 8.48 and 163...65 inches with a hand clutch, 1.33 60ft. Fully dressed too down to stock wheels. 472 lbs...  Don't believe all the horsepower hype on some people's site. You would shyt when u know how much mine  dynoed too. I will just say it wasn't over 225. The times are legit on some of these grudge Busas and 1k's whether people believe it or not.

For the inquiring minds that wanna know. Virus was a run of the mill 1397cc bike. stock crank, it wasn't lighten balenced or anything. It was just a factory suzuki crank with carrillo rods and my custom flat top wiseco pistons. The cams where not even bigger then a 385" lift.
Stock valve head and stock throttle body also.
So someone's good source was wrong, sorry to disappoint everyone.
It made 228hp and 126ft torque stoc. I can build anyone that same engine.
