i start it and set the rpm at 3k till it gets warm then shut it off for a total cool down . then repeat twice more at 2k rpm... then beat it up .

Will be in the same boat very soon.

Are you using regular dino juice or full synthetic oil for the break-in?  Which is recommended?

I was always told you should break in with Reg oil so the rings seat well.

I am a big beliver in seating the rings with load. High load low rpm break in's, if the roads are a mess I would not even start it till u can ride it for 20 minutes. Then ride on back roads varying the load and the rpms but keeping it under 7k.

Ive always heat cycled engines for break-in. I only use dino oil after the first heat cycle varying the rpm but keeping it under 4500 for aprox 20minutes
then change oil and filter cut filter open to check for metal then I heat cycle twice more same regment then last thing is taking it out for under load cycling. followed by couple short blast's :)
Engine break in is so subjective everybody has there own method But just about everyone agrees that rpm should not be steady nor load.

Gonna be in the same boat in a few weeks (1397 kit goin' in).  After the heat cycles, how soon can you put it on a dyno to do the map?

if the dyno guy is cool you could use the dyno to run it up on load and cycle it again before you tromp it  :P
