.....FINALLY GOT TO THE TRACK WITH THE TURBO BIKE.....
« on: July 04, 2007, 02:46:43 AM »
Well guys i finally got to make my first couple passes ever down a drag strip with my turbo bike.........and this was my first time ever down a strip period with a bike..........ok for starters i weigh in at a hefty 240 suited and dont have more then a months seat time on the street with the bike........so here we go......

Bike is right under 3 over prolly around 2 3/4's on the arm and it was hand clutch and foot shifted down the track

First pass.......            I forgot to take air out of the tire this pass so i made the pass with almost 34psi in the tire.....
spun out the hole and got squirrly at the back end and the times dont lie  :?
Reaction......    .2740
60 ft...........    1.6158
330 ft.........    4.6251
594 ft.........    6.3431
1/8 et........     6.7211
mph...........     119.96

Second pass........          between 11-12 psi this run in the tire so needless to say it hooked better
so much so that off the line it jumped out the hole hard and floated the front tire almost
a foot off the ground so again wasnt the best run IMO but better
Reaction.......    .1081
60 ft............    1.5672
330 ft..........    4.1387
594 ft..........    5.8498
1/8 et.........     6.2191
mph...........      121.93

Third pass.........            this was my personal best for the night and from what i have heard from just about everyone that saw me
run said i left pretty dam hard and that the numbers are pretty impressive for a first timer with no seat time

Reaction.......     .2418
60 ft............     1.4894
330 ft..........     4.0129
594 ft..........     5.7947
1/8 et..........     6.1604
mph.............     126.11

For the regular drag guys out there let me know how i did as im new to the whole track thing and dont know a super lot about the numbers i ran........do any of these times net 8 second passes on the back end of a quarter mile track with a 320 hp bike????.........2 stages of boost off the line on a 8 pd spring 252 to the wheel and towards the back end i flip the high boost on and im at around 320 maybe a tad less.....dont see much high boost at the 1/8 mile strip so i know the bike will make up alot for me with a quarter mile strip on the back end.........any comments or tips are welcome and i appreciate it..........i leave the line around 7 grand and come out of it pretty hard.......id say at my 60 ft or a lil less im wide open 100% throttle.....is that good or do i need to get 100% faster??? ...........i know i can go alot faster and i will next time round and bet on that      :thumb:

Comment please and let me know......i know im about as hooked as that 1.48 60 ft even i had to double take that one      :D

Those are great numbers for such a small amount of experience. A few more passes adn you will be in 8 second territory. your 60' is excellent. If you can get the power down just a little earlier and make it move in 2nd and 3rd, you will be 8.70's in no time.

i was told by a few people that the last run would have easily been an 8 second pass because of how much i would make up on the back end with 320+ hp........is that true..........i have heard that 5.99 for a motor bike is capable of an 8 sec pass so with a turbo bike a 6.16 at 126 should be able to squeeze it out to right??

On high boost at the back end i wasnt seeing a lick of traction ......it was breaking loose pretty bad and i went sideways a few times.......the track sucks beyond the 330 IMO cause i saw 2 accidents past the 330 and just about everyone there complaining about the back end so yeah when i turned on the high boost it broke up pretty bad and im sure thats why all it mustered out was a 6.21 and 6.16..........thanks for the replys and theres always next time..... :thumb:

NICE RUNS CHRIS....!!!

1.46s are unbelievable for first time out....Congrats..

As you make more passes your ETs will drop.  Just got to get WOT as soon as you can and get it into boost.

Your 60's is excellent at 1.48, your 4.13 330' is pretty damn good to but no where near 8s. 126mph is pretty good for your weight and low boost.  You need about a 3.90-3.95 330' and a 5.80-5.90 1/8 to go 8.90s.

Assuming you gain 30 mph on the back half you will be running 156mph in the 1/4.  Once again good for your weight.  Adding boost on the back half will help mph some but won't make a huge difference in ET... Even if you gained 3-4mph I bet its barely a tenth in ET reduction.  Just keep practicing, get consistant, then turn it up.

Couldn't have paid for a better first night out then that!

those times are awesome for the first time out, your knocking on the door for that 8 sec pass. what are you running for gearing ?
5.80's 5.90's in the low 130's will put you there no problem. I read that if you multiply your 1/8 mile times 1.52 it gives you pretty
close what your 1/4 mi time would have been. I've tried this and its pretty accurate.

im stock gearing.....17/40.......either tire spin or spinning my clutches is why my time and mph is where it is.....i no doubt would have gone faster had it not been for one of those reasons........11 psi was to little air pressure in my tire and weighing in at 240 that hurt me too.........next couple of passes ill get that 5.??? for sure.........
