ok guys know wires ,,,but heres problem...EDITED
« on: July 18, 2007, 12:02:54 AM »
ok right by the starter relay and where the plug comes outta harness to find out what codes ur bike is throwing is another plug with 6-8 wires in it...anyone know what it plugs into...comes out of harness same exact spot as the code plug...

thnx for wire info

heres what bike is doin...its starts up fine, some black smoke, pops fire when reved and when it gets warm it get a low end knock cause by detonation i think...its not a consistant noise just once in awhile when it idles then eventually bike dies and wont start again till its cool....

any ideas?

According to the Repair Manual's Wiring Diagram (7 wires) - It is left unconnected and capped off (Top Left Corner) next to the ECM & Module Selection Switch Coupler.

Looking at My actual Wiring Harnes - It is only capped off.

It would appear to be used when needing to tie into the ECM (ECU/Black Box)...

I'm sure Dave O or Quasar could provide the info...

It is the factory tunning port for the ECM this is where the Factory pro teka tool plugs in to reprogram the ECM  i suppose the factory has a way of tunning  the e-prom the same way only much better.

It's a '99 right?!

1st - Check for Clogged Injector Filter Screens - Most just removed them because they would clog up and not even give a code...
Next, Check Fuel Pump Screens - It really sounds like a fueling issue...

Let us know and we'll go from there.

That or it jumped timing... maybe broke the tensioner between the Cam Sprockets.  Just enough to give varibles to confuse you...

Yep ... plug to reprogram ECU.  Don't screw with it.  :)

I agree that you should check the cam timing.  Sounds like it could have jumped a tooth or two ... mostly if there are "knocking" noises.

What cam chain tensioner is in this bike?

Check everything , probably just the vac signal to std map sensor check valve etc , but 1 tooth out will give the same symptoms and cause much damage  .... do't ask how i know  :(

It IS Definately TIMING... I went through this last year.

Pull the valve cover and check the marks on the right side of the Cams with it at TDC.  (Verify at the Crank sight hole it is lined up.)

It has jumped timing 1 tooth, I'll lay money on it.

it shouldn't be detonationg, i've been running some octange booster for extra safety since i bought the bike, i had a case of this stuff in my garage from my lightning, dennis said the tune was safe for pump gas, but i'm big against overly safe tunes and fuel,

the stuff i've been using is the torco unleaded accelerator, a can mixed with 5 gallons turns 93 into 108 i believe, i usually put a half a can in with a fill up. i figured better safe than sorry on that kind of stuff

edit:

heres the stuff

The Unleaded concentrate when blended with a 93-octane super unleaded makes up to a 107-octane race fuel for many of today's race cars, streetcars, motorcycles, watercraft, ATV's, and many other motor sport applications!

Great for two and four cycle engines.

Accelerator works as well as any performance unleaded fuel within the limits of compression and RPM's per application.

Yeah, but stock 99 vintage tensioner or has it been updated to the oil/ratchet 2nd Gen tensioner?

see that i dont know

Look at the tensioner and see if it has an oil line hooked up to it.  If not, then it's the original first generation tensioner, which is not a good thing to have on the bike.
